Here's something interesting (if you care about hair), found a way to get the wind glitch reliably and it gives a new perspective on Kasumi's hair which is extremely important
You can see 3 distinct layers here. Compare it to Leifang, who only has two right on top of each other
But take a look whose hair looks thicker
With more opacity they could have put less work into Kasumi's hair and the end result would have looked better.
Just thought of that. The hair in that game was pretty well done. Now that I think of it I think they merged the DOA2U and DOA4 hair physics to make DOA5's, it seems to have properties from both games in a way.
That's a really interesting post @Chapstick! Thanks, and you were right after all. It was really not clever to take so much care modelling Kasumi's hair with several layers but then ruining it by making the hair much too see-through. Well, they didn't repeat this mistake with Phase 4's eye lashes. They are probably three times less transparent than Kasumi's. XD
(You're lucky you get no "obsessed with hair" and a "who looks at hair in a fighting" game digs. )
I've actually come in here to share more of The Order 1886 with you guys. OMG, this game is graphics porn! XD At first I just thought: "It looks great alright! But not that much better than Arkham Knight to be perfectly honest. :/" Now, after a few changes in settings though...wow. I'm more and more just blown away. This game looks like a Pixar movie.
The environments are so detailed and beautifully moody:
I also found out how to do much closer close ups.
The textures and shaders in this game are of such a high standard and look so realistic. Could you imagine such a floor in DOA6? No? I neither! XD
Here a close up of the eyes looking into the flame on the previous picture. Hard to believe these are not cutscene but normal gameplay character models. You normally wouldn't even see all those details if you didn't activate the free photo mode camera. O:
Speaking of the camera...you can freely fly with it through the levels. In this case the whole room, up to the ceiling. Which is an amazing experience...
... and not for once is the framerate stuttering nor do any other errors appear.
Honestly, seeing that this game looks and runs so great on the PS4, whereas other much more limited games (like fighting games for example) look kinda poorly, I really won't let the excuse pass anymore that the PS4 is just not powerful enough. These games are just really poorly optimized and the game developers should be called out on that!
I used to in different threads. Then I made that hair thread so people who care about hair could talk about it with no one who doesn't complaining. But then people came to the thread to complain it existed. Then it got a small mention in the encyclopedia dramatica page someone made about freestepdodge.
Surprised I haven't really gotten any of those complaints lately

The photography mode seems really cool! More games should have it so that we can see every last detail of the world they created. I know if I'd put that much effort into something I'd want people noticing it. Photography modes and model viewers are always great editions.
Flower's a really pretty game and I'm surprised I haven't posted anything from it here yet. If I have, I forgot.
^ignore the watermark and "resume" there's a cinematic mode at the end of each level. The "resume" goes away if you leave the controller totally idle but pops up if you even brush against the controller ruining any picture you were about to take
The game totally shifts tones and gets pretty dark for one level representing pollution
Me too! D: Oh well, I hope you don't mind me still posting some more of the Order. (Your Flower images are really nice!)
(Lol, coincidentally I flipped all the pictures to the right here.)
If I had a Neogaf account I would go showcase my pictures there. They do appreciate good game photography there. But unfortunately membership there is sooo hard to achieve. :/ But I know that at least @Jadeinchains does appreciate my efforts in here, thanks!
Yes, unfortunately it does. :/ Though after playing a while it is hardly noticable anymore and you simply forget about them. Just in screenshots I'm always reminded of them again. They said they wanted the game to feel more cinematic. Well, it basically is an interactive movie. The game also has a pretty stark film grain effect (starker than Arkham Knight for example) and tons other post processing effects to give it that cinematic look. The good thing is: You can deactivate these effects (except the black bars) in photo mode, or switch additional ones on, and then keep on playing the game with these settings. Actually, that is kinda cool. If I want to play it in black and white or really colorful or with heavy motion blur, I can do that, which shows how technically capable this game is because post processing effects like this are very taxing to the system.
That reminds me. I wanna bring up Akiba's Trip real quick, not because it has particularly good graphics (it was originally made for Vita, so that's not too surprising), but because the PS4 and PC versions have a cool little visual effects thing that you can use to mess with how the game looks. A lot. It mostly involves changing colors and such, but there's a surprising amount you can do with it, and it's fun to mess around with. The game takes place exclusively during the day, but you can do things like make an artificial night or sunset, or make everything look like a flashback sequence in an anime.
I hear quite often of that game... But I have no clue what it really is. Is it an open world/sandbox style JRPG? And it is pretty lewd, right? Or am I mixing it up with another game? XD

And it's really not that lewd especially compared to most JRPGS nowadays which are like "here's a half naked girl, she looks 5 but is reall 9000 years old, also she's your sister."

It's sort of an open world-ish beat em up where you walk around a, by all accounts, very accurate game recreation of Akihabara in Tokyo. The plot of the game revolves around things that are sort of like synthetic vampires, which you defeat by ripping off their clothes to expose them to the sun. I suppose it is a bit lewd, but it's more like silly lewd than erotic lewd. For example...
Lol, I must have played none of nowaday's JRPGs. XD I never came across a half naked girl, looking 5, but being 9000 years old and being my sister. o__O'

Its a bit of slight exaggeration of the state of anime type culture in general. Tons of incest undertones or more overt, tons of immortal loli's, and all the girls wear ridiculous outfits.
Hey, let's take a look at the upcoming Gears of War 4, exclusive to the Xbone (but very likely eventually coming to PC too. ). The first HQ screenshots were released just a few days ago:
Gears of War games were always graphical showcases on Microsoft consoles. The screens do look good...not spectacular. I like how much more colorful the art style has become though. Gone are all the ugly, desaturated earth tones.
They claim the framerate of this game will be a solid 60. If they manage to do that with this look and in 1080p, then call me impressed.
By the way, I always loved the architecture of this game series:
It's very unique and really hard to describe or to compare with actually existing architecture styles. It is some mix of Art Deco, Art Nouveau, Neoclassicism and steam punk influences... So beautiful and imposing with this flair of a ruined once thriving culture.
