Played through the Dragon Age Descent dlc and expected it to look kinda boring without much variety but I was definitely wrong

BTW does the new dragon age suck ass at actual gameplay like the original? That Kotor system is what kept me from really getting into the series.

I never played the original so idk how similar the gameplay is but I like it in inquisition. R2 basic attack, 8 ability slots. Abilities cost mana/stamina and have cooldown times. There's a short-haired "tomboy" character you can romance ;)

That is one masculine face but still cool lol.

But in the original its like Kotor where you pause input an order of commands, then unpause and watch the game play itself. And it wasn't even cool to watch.

That's an option but you're not forced to do it. They call it the tactical camera in this one and it's if you want to be more... Tactical I guess. I only ever use it to pause and use healing potions. You can also use it to scope out the field.

What would you call this mixture of influences? :/ I see fantasy, science fiction, steam punk and post apocaliptic influences.

The designs are way too cluttered. Too noisy with junk tossed on there for no reason. Its details just for the sake of details without considering if they actually look good.

Robot girl looks virtually the same though so she comes across fine.

Apart from the hideous outfit I really dislike that his body proportons and stance remind me very much of a gorilla.

His head is too small, neck is too large, his blank expression makes him look like he has no clue what going on, his arm looks misshapen and bulging and pretty much everything draws you away from his legs...WHY

Steve and Alisa have the best new costumes IMO. Hwoarang is just.....and that unnecessary eye patch, and the shirt that barely fits him.:confused:

This probably fits in better here than in the DLC thread but @werewolfgold tempted me. XD

Are you going by look? How do we know how many polygons are in the T7 models?

Yes and no. ;) The polygon count of the DOA models are of course long known. The usual count is about 30k for the men and about 40k-60k for the girls. Kasumi's Ninja Gaiden-esque suit is one of the highest in quality:

For any PS3/Xbox360 game this is an already huge amount of polygons! Soul Calibur IV/V models just have about 20-25k polygons but they still look fairly good in comparison.
Ayane's default costume is a slight alteration of her Ninja Gaiden model which had over 100k+ polygons.

This is even today a big amount for a game. You clearly can see the high quality by the very few visible edges the model has in the game. It looks very smooth.

For comparison: Street Fighter V's models have about 60-80k polygons, Marius' model in Ryse has about 80k polygons (they once wanted to use 150k but had to downgrade), Final Fantasy XV models have about 100k (20k just for the hair, the total amount of a Soul Calibur 5 model) and with Tekken 7...I actually have to guess. ;) But that's not very difficult for a trained...or rather a very nerdy eye like mine. XD You literally can count the polygons on many parts of the model (which is already a good sign for low quality) and thus make a fairly good estimate for the rest of the model. Lucky Chloe is a good example:

Alone the hair with pigtails has obviously less polygons as for example Marie Rose in DOA5. See, you can count them by the visible edges? Now look at the paws which I would argue are even made up of less polygons than many DOA2U models on the original Xbox. They didn't even model the buttons here, they are just textures...
Even if you take one of the character models that were revealed after the big makeover of Tekken 7, when it became Tekken 7 Fated Retribution, you can still fairly easy make out polygon edges on the hair (very low quality for today's standards), the veil (easier visible in motion in the trailer) the arm and shoulder and last but not least the edgy boob, lol.

In Fated Retribution they mostly added fancy post processing effects (more contrast, tinted filters, film grain, chromatic aberration, depth of field etc...) to make it look more impressive and stylish. It definitely works but the actual character models were hardly touched and are imho very disappointing for this generation of games.

After all these ramblings let me try to give you an estimate. ;)
I would say they are made up of about 50k polygons. That's the double amount of the polygons TTT2 had, which is definitely an improvement. The character bodies are less improved (if improved at all) but the clothing probably got most of the extra polygons so they flow and animate better. And they definitely do if you watch footage of the game:


But impressive for today's standards? Nope, not at all.

I'd be lying if I said that I always scrutinized games enough to try to guess at how many polygons a given model has. I especially don't want to stare too hard at Lucky Chloe. lol

Though I do notice when things are particularly...lacking, I'm not a 3D modeler. Took some classes on it back in the day, but not really my field.

I think that Tekken 7 can "get away" with most of what they're doing, but the hair is wtf-tier. Like, I dunno what's going on. It looks like alpha channel problems or something. It didn't look this bad in TTT2. I've heard people say that UE can't really do alpha channels all that well. And it would kind of make sense given how the hair looks in a lot of games that use it (SFV, MKX, T7). But, you'd think that that'd be something the UE devs would try to address with time, and they're on their 4th iteration of their engine.

Anyhoo, I don't know why Namco felt the need to hulk out all of their male characters. It really became noticeable in TTT2 and they seemed to have mostly copypasts'd the models into T7. The proportions seemed relatively okay in T4-T6. But, they seem to really be gunning for that 80s Fist of the North Star look.

And Hwoarang... *sigh* I mean, he might have a story reason for the eyepatch, and I like the shirt design. But, that jacket...should not be there. At the very least, it did not need to be a weird baby blue that is found nowhere else in the outfit. If it was black like the pants, I think it would up the cohesion levels greatly.

Wait, that's a jacket? I honestly thought it was a cape-thing with a chain collar or something. Looking at it again, I'm not sure if that makes it better or worse than my first impression...

A while ago Arkham Knight was updated with even more models to ogle at in the character model viewer. :D So, I thought I'd make some photos of the incredible detail the developers were able to put in this game.
People often like to throw around "OMG, this looks like a Pixar movie! O:" and I heard lots of people say that after the most recent Tekken 7 trailer and I thought: Oh, please... >__>' But in this case I'm saying it myself: These models look as if they jumped straight out of a Pixar movie! O: And you play with these models without any downgrade whatsoever in the actual game:

(I unfortunately still haven't found any sources about the exact polygon count of this batsuit. But I would guess it comes close to a 200k, which is insane.)
