Itagaki can't simply waltz in to do whatever he pleases with DOA. He is no longer a part of DOA and TN. I'm sorry, but as far as I'm concerned, these are simply empty words from him. What I've gathered from the comments so far:
A lot of you don't actually understand Itagaki's main practice: making high quality games. Don't let DOA4's patch and Devil's Third fool you... he makes great stuff.
The main concern here should be that he is interested in coming back to DOA... that's a change of heart if I've ever heard one. After all he did say he was done with DOA and that is should be finished. I don't see this happening, but if Itagaki comes back -- it will be a game changer.
The world will explode. We will finally see if it's Koei's lack of quality products that's bringing Team NINJA down to lower scaled levels, and less charm as quoted from the comments.
Personally, this is how I feel about Itagaki coming back:
if it means quality coming back in the areas where it's lacking -- go ahead. But if it means getting a mechanically stupid game... I would pass on him.
I literally just did this the other day LOLWhen I look at DoA4 & DoA5, I love DOA4's stages and charm, but once I actually start playing game, I go "what is this shit?" Then go back to DOA5.
My biggest issue with DOA5 (if it can even be called an issue) is the seemingly lack of contrast and brightness in the stages/characters. The game overall, while beautiful, looks a bit dull as far as colors go. I feel like DOA3 was similar in look (though obviously more Anime-inspired), but the characters had SO MUCH more animation to them. Bangs moved, clothes rippled, even the females thighs jiggled. This isn't as prevalent in DOA5, and while not a huge deal, I feel it takes away from some of the beautiful animation and graphics that the series is known for.
The interesting thing is that when you compare DOA5 visually to any other competitive FG out there, It looks pretty much miles better than any other fighter besides Killer Instinct. People downplay DOA5's graphics too much. The game is still visually appealing and catches people's attention. But yeah, DOA4's stages were pretty gorgeous...
I think it's unfair though to bring up the "4's stages were more colorful" argument. That was the stylistic choice for the game. 3 was almost the complete opposite with the darker and more dull colors. And then in DOAD (which was not made by Itagaki) many stages were vibrant and colorful:
Although they were nice to look at I personally I found many of 4's stages to be annoying as hell. The only thing I miss is the stair mechanics.
