Not quite either. Kwiggles had Christie for 3 matches, more than enough for Steady to make an adjustment, he switched to Jacky and almost took 2 games in a row, Steady allowed his nerves to get the best of him in the last match (I'm not the only person that said this) going for a simple 1P+KP > 6P > P > CB setup in EVO Grand Finals? Are you serious?

It's still a mix up. There's no reason this combo would be any less viable in grand finals.

You missed the point I made, entirely.
Did i? So you were still referring to that match in particular? Meaning Steady didn't knew the Christie matchup? Or that Kwiggles didn't knew the Jacky matchup? Because in my opinion, neither was a factor in that match

It's still a mix up. There's no reason this combo would be any less viable in grand finals.
I wrote the "no mix-up, mix up" post a while ago, trust me, i know that mentality. But going for the CB? Kwiggles probably though he was going for the 66K (for the wall combo) but what's that? Both those options are mid kicks? Well too bad. He had her against the wall, could he not have spared to do a 46T to end the game?

That's just how DOA works. Of course he had multiple options, it's just a mind game.

Exactly. Character choice doesn't matter, the player who picks the character does.

Character choice does matter, if I were that desperate to win a tournament major so badly, for example, I would just play Genfu simply because he's easier to play than Ayane for the same reward. USF4 Grand Finals, Gamer Bee outplayed Momochi's Ken (his main), and was forced to switch to Evil Ryu, a better character since he wants win so badly.

The player playing their character well matters, of course, some times character choice also plays a role as well.

Haijin is right. All those things make a difference.

But sometimes tournament pressure gets to players and they make some odd character choices..... I'l never understand what the hell went down in TFC 2013 Grand Finals.

You're beating your own logic a little here, if that were to be the case, why would Steady willingly switch from Sarah to Jacky? A clearly worse character? Another example, E-mann vs SweetRevenge at FR18, Kokoro beating Gen Fu? Whaaaaat?

If there are things someone knows that someone else doesn't, it can be utilized as an advantage. No one at Final Round knew Kokoro. However that didn't play out well for him at EVO against Kwiggles because he was more prepared for it this time. Character knowledge, character choice and the player all play a role.

It's also about who the player is most comfortable playing with, not just how good the player is alone.

He always does that..... thats the weird pattern I mentioned before..... I would really like to know why he does that.

My point is that character choice matters, as much as a player's skill. You are trying to argue that it's about the player. It takes both, along with the facts I've mentioned.

Ok fine i will give you that, character choice matters, but not to the extent actual skill does, players who claim to be "decent" with all characters in the roster are perfect proof of this. But for the sake of not derailing the core subject of this thread, we'll leave it at that.

To the underlined, never said that.

Plenty of people at FR knew how Kokoro worked, Sweet Revenge just happened to not be one of those people.

Well he did have that one Input Error..... I honestly thought he had that one in the bag.... and I'm sure he did too.

He worked so hard to get that far......

The learning curve. That's why.
Well Sarah didn't seem hard when I mess around with her. Hoodless tells me Akira is the hardest but if you get the knee down you'll learning the others. I don't think I will be trying to learn anyone. Maybe Sarah or Pai if I'm bored.
