And is that really sweat and white paint around the buttons? *somethingmind blown*

So in March of last year I bought myself a Chun Li TE S as a birthday present, right? I figured "I'm finally going to learn to play some other fighting games and I'm going to learn stick at the same time." It didn't work out, something felt off about the stick and I didn't like it. I thought maybe it was the square gate but that didn't change my feelings and the stick just sat around.

A few months later I ended up buying the limited SFxT Pro Stick and I noticed myself liking that more, maybe it was because I was using it for playing DOA++ but something felt "right." Since then, the few times I have played something, I've been using the SFxT stick, the one that felt right. Just recently I've really gotten into VF5FS and I've been using the SFxT stick. I've managed to more or less get some difficult stuff down like Akira's knee and Jean's guard break follow-up but I've still been struggling with diagonals. Hell, I have an easier time pulling off Akira's 1 frame knee launcher than his :3::3::P: launcher.

The Chun stick still has the octo-gate in it so I wanted to try that out just this very moment and I noticed that the entirety of the stick is loose as hell, all of the buttons and the actual stick itself. It feels mushy and off. I can't even get the knee to register on this thing without slamming on the guard button and then it'll register more than a frame. No wonder I couldn't play on this thing.

How the hell did my brand new, stock TE S get so loose out of the box? This put back my learning fighting games for almost a year and I'm kind of disappointed to learn that now. Maybe I could've been at Evo competing for something this year! Not likely, but still, haha. Short of replacing everything in the stick, what can I do to fix this thing?

The Chun Li TE S is sexy though. While I'm not a big fan of Kasumi, she'd make a perfect replacement piece of artwork on the stick and I put something together really quick. Does anyone want the actual PSD? It actually has Kasumi, the various cherry blossoms and background all separate so you can still arrange them as you please.
Sometimes different batches of the same parts will feel somewhat different depending on seemingly random environmental factors when making the spring. It's seems kind of weird until you realize that these things are built more for endurance than feel.
And is that really sweat and white paint around the buttons? *somethingmind blown*
I guess this isn't really the time to tell you guys the old SRK Tech Talk meme of "6-buttons is cool and 8-buttons is dick."

Yeah, for just getting a case from him with no parts in it's like $600... stupid british pound and the fall of the dollar.

They're highly worth it though. Aside from being works of art, the build quality is just solid.

That said, if you don't want to import, there are a shit ton of other quality custom builders in the US (GiantSword, RoninWarrior, Godspu, Kasucode, etc.).

Yeah, that's what I was most impressed with. My local stick builder does great work, so I'm set there. I want one for the showpiece. My problem would be deciding the character/theme of the stick.

Oh, I bought the VS, and yeah, it's awesome. I prefer the size of the Fighting Edge, but I'd be hard placed to say which one I thought was better if I'm trying to be objective.

It looks great. So in terms of art, when you mod your stick, do you just put the art under a clear sheet and screw it back on? Or is the entire top piece the art? I am new to sticks and would love to work on a personalized DOA or VF stick.

Anyone know a good place to get some good wiring of various colors and some quick disconnects? possibly some mesh to contain wiring?

If you're just doing something like what Emperor Cow or I did, you need to order a replacement panel from either the manufacturer or a third party like Art at Tek-Innovations, then get your art printed which you can either pay someone for or you can do it yourself if you have a local place. Once you have that stuff, yeah, just pop the original cover off and put the new art and cover on. Pretty simple.

Basicly I Remove the dashboard and replace it with clear plexi glass and put the artwork under it.

The beauty of the Qanba Q4RAF is that the original dashboard is already a plexi inbedded into the stick to avoid any sharp edges. So when you get the clear plexi it simply fits like a glove with no problems. For this stick in particular There was an offer from gremlinsolutions.co.uk where they offered the plexi for free so I went for it. But, If you want to get the same stick from somewhere else you can usually find the Plexi being sold at the same place for like 10-12 bucks anyway so its worth getting.

As for the artwork itself, you need to make sure you have a template of the stick first. You can find this all over the place online. The reason you need it is so that when you print the pic at 100% resolution you get it to fit exactly with the proportions of your stick. It also shows you where the buttons and stick shaft will be so you can arrange your art to fit there accurately. Once you play around with photoshop and you get your art done, Plug it onto a USB and go to your local print guys and tell them you want it at 100% resolution. Dont go for thin paper. I would recommend using paper thickness of 250-300. It keeps it alot more stable and alot easier to manage and cut.

The inside of the Qanba is fairly easy to manage as well .. its just a matter of snap-on snap off. You dont need to do anything complicated. Just simply disconnect the buttons and reconnect them when you're done :)

Heres the reasons why I Like this stick in particular over the rest and particularly over the Madcatz (and believe me I have a shit ton of sticks in London alone not including the ones in Saudi .. LOL >__>):
- Full Sanwa just like the Madcatz.
- It comes Dual-mod (PS3-XBOX-PC) out of the box with no need to do any adjustments. This is a life saver in tournaments.
- Unlike the Madcatz this sticks dashboard is already a glass with a print under it. This makes it very easy to clean and maintain and very easy to replace without dealing with glue and gunk.
- It has a nice resting area for your hands under the buttons and on the side of the stick.
- The screws on the dashboard are acctually ubmerged under the level of the glass unlike the Madcatz where the screws are sticking out and sometimes get in the way and are irritating. Also, there are stoppers that fit right over the screws which you can glue on to make them exactly flush with the stick surface. (very smart design)
- The compartment for the wire is big enough unlike the Madcats where you have to tangle your stick like crazy to get it to fit and it would still bulge out.
- The bottom of the stick is this nice fabric over the metal base that you see on other sticks. This is fricken awesome, especially if you wanna play at night in like yuor boxers your leggs wouldnt freeze from the cold metal. :p (in my opinion ove of the coolest features of the stick.
- Comes with a cloth to clean it up
- Comes with its own headset.
- Unlike the other sticks, this stick allows you to plug in any 3rd party 2-in-1 Headset and mic because the socket for it is like a normal headset socket and not an XBOX headset socket. (you can see this as a downfall I suppose since official Xbox headsets wouldnt work on it if you're lazy but I find this quite an advantage)
- Has Turbo functionality like MCZ. (Not that I ever really use it.. but its there)
- Has a Handle on top to carry it like a suitcase, Arguably one of the smartest things on the stick.
- Like I said before, very very mod friendly.
- When you place the plexi you don't need to worry about sharp edges or the picture sticking out because everything is nice and submerged under the outer plastic shell which ends up flush with the plexi glass :).
- Is the same price as a MCZ so its much a better deal at the end of the day.
