My plexis and panels just shipped from Art at Tek-Innovations. Pretty pumped. d3v did some pretty great art and I can't wait to get these onto my two Fusions. Pics probably Tuesday or Wednesday if the USPS doesn't fuck anything up.

This is going to be my secondary stick. I'm likely going to opt for clear Sanwa buttons shortly here but decided to leave the normal white ones in for now. Fusion Ebony with a bat top stick and custom art. My second Fusion Ebony, which I haven't even opened yet, is going to be bat top, all black Sanwa buttons, and the other bit of art that d3v did. Turned out really fucking well and I'm pretty pumped about it all. Highly recommend hitting up d3v at his thread over on SRK's Trading Outlet. Art from Tek-Innovations.com did my plexi and clear panel. You can't really see it thanks to my awesome camera work, but the button labels are laser-etched into the panel so I don't forget which buttons are which when setting up my controls at a buddy's place.

Thanks. I like the other art a little better even so that one should look pretty awesome whenever I get around to finishing it up.
Anyway, you just need to force yourself to use it for a while and you learn as you go. After you get passed the learning phase you'll typically find your execution is a bit better than pad. Just start on a game like SSFIV or UMvC3. They have layouts that ease you into it as far as the buttons go. Learning the actual joystick part takes the longest but it's mostly about avoiding riding the gate. A lot of people go for octagonal gates because they don't like the feel of a square gate, but that's been talked about in this thread already.
Going to be uploading a video later that's a tutorial on replacing the stick (balltop to battop), buttons, and art for an eightarc Fusion, though the process is mostly the same for the Qanba Q4RAF. Just a heads up. Didn't see any tutorials for that kind of mod for the Fusion on YT and it's pretty simple, so I figured I'd toss a quick one up there.
Alright, the video is gonna take a bit because the file size is huge and I have to do some serious editing before I can put it up. So here is the finished stick in bad picture form:

I like that art, CyberEvil,.

I'm addicted to buying sticks. I've got the new Hori Fighting Edge on the way. Currently playing on the Hori SC5 stick, which is my favorite stick. I'll probably end up buying the latest Mad Catz stick when I go to EVO, and I've got about 7-8 customs. My favorites are these two:

Hah, arcade sticks are a very expensive item to collect and use. Your customs look absolutely sick and if I wasn't so used to having a dual-mod that I don't have to spend a ton of extra money for then I'd be in even worse shape than I am. In total I've had my two eightarc Fusions (both Ebony), a PS3 MadCatz TE Round 2, a 360 MadCatz TE Round 2, a MadCatz SFxT Fightstick Pro, and a MadCatz MvC3 TE. Couple that with replacing the balltop on every stick with battops, swapping out buttons, and most recently my art mods and I've dropped well over a grand. I'm assuming you have me beat, but in my defense I've only been using stick since around the launch of Marvel vs. Capcom 3 (not Ultimate).

I'll probably run into you at Evo as well so maybe we can get some games in. Money match, maybe?

I don't do money matches, but I'm always down for gentleman's challenges. :)

What games are you entering?

I'm entering KoF and SC5.

The only reason I've gotten so many customs is because there's a local stick builder here (http://www.foehammershop.com/) who has been giving me pretty good deals on boxes. They do amaaaaaazing work.

Yeah, I really like the DATEL shells (pretty cheap too) . The PCB is already dual modded for 360 and xbox.
Sanwa parts simply just snap on, hardly need to adjust anything, and you have good resting space for your hands.

The only downside is the lack of a mic jack. which is why I had a friend place a seperate XBOX PCB in my mayflash .. so you cant partychat (unless you have a wireless mic .. which I dont have)

@Emperor_Cow: No modders around here locally, so I go with the eightarc Fusion to avoid tracking down a dual mod. I happen to love the sticks so it's all good to me.

I believe you still have to widen the button holes in the Datel/Paewang shell.

Yup. But not by much. Since its a plastic shell and not metal, you can easily do it with some rough sand paper. :p

As for the stick shaft. you need to buy longer screws to accomodate the Sanwa stick. If you look inside theres like this little white base (detatchable). The sanwa base acctually fits right into it like a glove. However this reduces the stick height by around 4 mm when you compare it to the madcatz height. But for some reason I find this good as in theory you get slightly faster inputs cuz your circle is now smaller (I'm just assuming :p). Kinda feels like the old neogeo sticks in height.

Actually, the best way is still to use shorter screws from a Fanta stick and then shave a bit of the JLF body. This'll get you to mount the stick at the correct height.

See I considered that, but I was worried that I wouldnt get it flat properly.
But I'm quite happy with the result I got. Its not perfect (lengthwise), but very responsive and it was alot less hastle. :)

I'd much rather have a slightly shorter stick than a slightly longer one... (that almost sounds pornographic .. LOL )

That's AWESOME, d3v.

Good shit. Would look nice with some clear sanwas/seimitsus :).

Do you charge for your services? I'm thinking I want an Ayane themed stick.

Kokoro piece:

If any of you are wondering where the base template comes from, it's from my old Capcom Vs. SNK 2 design.

EDIT:

You can switch the button labels from XBox to PS3 in the PSD file.
