Idgaf about story I'm sold on the combat and graphics. :p

The game apparently got another graphical boost in the final retail version:

The version with the extra mountain details being the retail version.

This game is the the only game that I know of that actually considerably improved it's visuals in the last couple of months before release. Elsewhere there's only ever downgrades. Kudos to the development team of FFXV. :)

That never stopped Final Fantasy 5 from being awesome, and it had a lighthearted story that was comparable to a campy, action-oriented Saturday morning cartoon show, complete with cheesy villains you can't help but love to hate.
I personally love FFV' story. It's not the same type of serious story of a typical FF but it's perfect because I think it complements the gameplay well and and it has a lot of fun and adventurous moments.

I have yet to play a FF with a story that is so bad it ruins the whole experience, but I can safely say that Fire Emblem: Fates had such a bad story it ruined my overall enjoyment of many things in the game.

To add to this, I think it also matters how much the developers want you to care about story and dialogue.
Fighting games just have the bare minimum, so the quality of the story really does not matter.
A racing game rarely has a story.

JRPGs are almost always moved by a narrative, but even then it depends on much they want you to care about it: FFV gets shat on for its story but the game wanted a simple heartfelt retelling of the four warriors of light. It does not give upon the player hours and hours of dialogue and super well made cg cutscenes.

While, on the other hand, can we say the same for Final Fantasy VII? I don't think we can.

If the story does not matter that much in the end in a JRPG, then why do the developers put that much emphasis in it?
It's as if when we remember the memorable things of VII we only talked about chocobo breeding, the Ruby Weapon fight and the enemy skill materia, and we left moments that touched our hearts and made us want to continue the game there.

I still don't get why people say XIII was convoluted. XIII-2, yeah maybe. LR, idk I didn't play much. But XIII had a great story.

The story, the main characters and the villain made no f****** sense?
Here's a great, lengthy but entertaining critical review that should explain everything:

There are more parts to it on Youtube. Says it all imo when you can make a 3 hour long review of everything that is wrong with the plot. ;)

What lol the two people just talking to each other? That was really cool seeing the size comparisons! The Adamantoise is huge!

He mentioned Leviathan... o__O I think they will show us some Leviathan battle gameplay. To watch or not to watch...that is the question. :/

Don't have the attention span or desire to watch these but I know the game I played made sense and had dynamic characters that reacted to tragedies like real human beings so...

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

btw I just heard what XV's ending is from someone and all I'll say is this- lmao

Let me add a lmao that goes beyond space and time to that. But I need more context so I"ll just wait for someone to upload FINAL FANTASY XV THE MOVIE.

Can we stop with that? That's imo really shitty behaviour. I don't go into the Pokemon thread or any current game thread and start ridiculing it's ending. What for? We can't really discuss it yet one week before official release. Only thing it is doing at this point is discouraging fans who are really looking forward to this, thanks.

Damn, snapped! 0_o I myself am glad I've been selective of which FF trailers to watch and I've been able to avoid any spoilers on my YT channel, probably helps that I mostly watch music videos and fight/funny vids, but I won't go into that. XD

Agreed. I understood pretty much everything in XIII as I played through it and liked the characters.

Agreed really, I'm keeping an open mind.

Also I'm very curious, why did you both spoil yourselves? Do you not plan on getting the game?

Lol on YouTube I've just been watching Rachel and Jun a J vloging channel, and I've been avoiding spoilers constantly. Which makes coming onto this thread stressful at times! XD

Also I stopped watching that thread Tyaren when they were about to show the boss fight because I don't want to see it.

Edit: It will be good once the games been out for a while so we can just openly discuss what we like and don't like about the game.

I think you are exaggerating. It was just a lmao. Enjoy the game when it comes out, form your own opinion and it's already more relevant than mine since I only saw cutscenes.
Heck this thread is mostly a hype train. A few bumps in the road should not ruin anything.
But if that's how it came across then I'll keep low on the story until a week has passed since release.

Dissidia Arcade Update:

The stream earlier this morning had some interesting balance changes, and Sephiroth got reclassified as a Heavy Type character as opposed to a Speed Type, which makes a lot more sense considering his range and just-frame cancels...

But despite their acknowledgement of the game's one-year anniversary, they STILL haven't announced a console release date or window. So I guess we'll know something after November 26, if not during the PlayStation Experience event on the first week of next month.

That being said, the new patch is out on Thanksgiving, with Sephiroth available for early access for those that are able to unlock him through credits obtained during the Battle of Gods event battles.

It's hard to completely seperate your opinion from someone else's expectations can damage an experiance just as much.

I'm not saying they'e not allowed to have an opinion, but people should kindly shut their goddam trap when a week before most get to play it.
