The Art Style and Graphics Discussion

Have you watched one of the videos? :) It all looks so smooth and fluid. The last jump 'n' run that I bought was Super Mario Galaxy many years ago, lol, but this game makes me consider if I shouldn't give another jump 'n' run a try:

Here's a great direct comparison video of the original PS2 Ratchet & Clank and the PS4 remake:

Super Mario Galaxy was great. ( to bad I couldn't finish it before my Wii dead ) when it comes to Rachet it definitely looks much more polished on the PS4. It actually still looks pretty presentable on ps2 as well though.

Also when it comes to the pictures being in spoilers topic it would probably be a good idea for this thread from here on.

I don't think you did. You can't fool me. lol

You said that his sleeveless look was his "original" design in your posts. It's not. Just to clarify for everyone. If you like the sleeveless look better though, that's cool.

Seriously? I called the other designs "original" too and Kyo (especially) and Andy have also changed their designs constantly throughout the series. I picked designs that they had "originally" in KoF12 or 13 because my point was the KoF 12/13 designs were more recognizable than the KoF14 ones.

Andy too for example had this dark grey/black shirt underneath his garb at one time:

And even this version looks more interesting and recognizable than the pretty similar KoF14 version...

It looks great although I've never really been able to get into these sorts of games myself because there's not really a goal. Better wording being there's not a goal in the game sense like complete this objective etc its more like a calming game.

Also is it just me or were the developer and interviewer on completely different wavelengths throughout that entire interview?!

And the closest game I can think to compare this to is Endless Ocean that I played back when I had a Wii.

It sounds like the goal is uncovering the story through finding drones and stuff about some ancient underwater civilization

Yeah it was kinda hard to listen to lol the IGN person was like "that's some badass kelp!" and the game developer person was like "um yeah, so,"

You'd think ign with their dozens of interviews would have got someone a little more interested in these types of games to hold the interview?! The idea of exploring the remains of a civilization actually does sound interesting so maybe I'll keep tabs on this game for the time being.

Fool around long enough in the lab in lorelei and you'll eventually get the infamous glitch, really glad they've never patched it out. Found out a few things

The castle across lorelei is considerably larger and the water seems to be reflective unless there's some other trick going on there

Even the water all the way at the end of the river is animated which you have to be this far away (pic below) to see. From what I can tell only the lit parts are animated while the dark parts are just solid grey.

And one last thing, the Helena roof glitch is still alive and well and since azuchi has a roof I'll be testing that tonight when the patch drops to try to get some faraway pics of the stage

Well they fixed the roof glitch in this stage. >:/ But through the power of izuna I can see a bit outside the playable part.

Woulda been cool if you could go past the wall and play through there.

I actually really loved how even if it's not the best graphics they added details that most people wouldn't see like the buildings and boats in the distance. It definitely helps making the world and stages feel more real instead of just empty abandoned places!

There are also three cats on different parts of the stage and I believe they're all different. :0 The one on the roof is an orange tabby, the one at the top of the stairs on the bottom level is white, and there's another one walking along the top of a wall I haven't gotten a good look at yet.

I can't wait to see the stage for my self! That's cool that they added cats to it. I wonder if this will be the last stage in the game? If it is I'd say it's a good send off though.

so has anyone taken notice of Vanillaware? im starting to become a fanboy for once not because they're masters of gameplay, but because their art style is gorgeous and it ages absurdly well. im waiting for their release of Odin's Sphere right now, but i bought Dragon's Crown on a whim and was blown away when my reward for beating a simple side mission was some of the best looking art i had ever seen in a video game.

latest

currently contemplating buying a Vita TV just so i can buy Muramasa Rebirth.

For some reason I've never played a guilty gear game. Then again I've only ever played one old school 2D drawn fighting game "Capcom Fighting Jam". That game looks great though.

yeah it does, but the idea im paying 60 more dollars for essentially the same game with subtle lighting changes doesn't sit well with me.

Alright, why not revive this thread? I'm often thinking: "Oh, this would be an interesting find to post in The Art Style and Graphics Discussion!" But then I never do... :/

How Geralt of The Witcher changed from one console generation to the next:

Quite impressive! Not just on the technical side but also in art style. I wouldn't want to play with that...thing...on the left through all of Witcher 3 and it's expansions. D:

Glad to see this Thread's running again! I myself played Uncharted 4 recently from RedBox and I have to say that I was blown away by the detail they had put into the game.
