New stage is very likely DOA3's Azuchi

One little thing about this stage that I always really liked was how your characters made a loud clunking sound when they moved around when on the rooftop section since it was such a nice attention to detail. If not the reflective floor, hope that bit is brought back.

Strange they boxed in the bottom level. Looks incredibly small, especially with the three torches in there.
I'm looking at pictures of it from past games and at looks like the exact same layout to me. It may be just the side view camera angle foreshortening it.

Well that Image is from the 3DS, the wooden barriers were added in that version making it very rectangular instead of allowing you to fight near the side of the stairs and in the gates.

Also, not a fan of the matte wood in the starting area, could have at least had some specular shine to it if not mirrored reflection. Also a little bothered that they didn't keep the 3DS improvement to require two wall hits to be knocked to the roof top.

This is a PS4 exclusive stage, so you'd think it would look better than the original in every way... and yet, this new TN -_-

It does actually look kinda nice and atmospheric...even without floor reflections. ;) here some more pictures that show off the stage at least in the background:

In the stream I clearly noticed the clouds moving in front of the moon. :D It's DOA5's only stage with moving clouds!

No reflections...but at least not pixelated or blurry... :)

Now you might say: "Wait a sec, but there were also real time reflections in by now very old games! O:" No, these games did actually cheat the viewer.

Crazy, but they actually took the time and effort to build fully modelled and textured rooms and character models twice, just a little less detailed, to have them pose as reflections... Cheating but still looking awesome to this day. ;)
my mind = blown

Stage itself looks good, kinda a shame about the reflective floors but oh well. I'm more disappointed about the walls not being two hit anymore and the strange stage transitions.

I am actually curious if this dlc character would be the last one for the doa 5 series or they will be bound to do more.

I'm gonna keep throwing people into those barricades in a strong attempt to get to those walled off torches.

It's coming out for PS4, Xbox One, Steam, and Arcade, so it'd be using the DX9 graphic engine for both the character and stage.

Come on, even if it still runs in the same old DOA5 engine and has to run on different plattforms it still should look considerably better than a 15 year old game. There's really no excuse for that.

There's a similar thing going on with Street Fighter 5 right now. It looks amazing on PC but does look really poor on PS4. Now there are people trying to find any excuse for that from "It's a stylistical choice that the shadows are low resolution pixels!" to "Well, the PS4 just isn't strong enough!" That's all bollocks! I spoke with a tech expert working in game development and the Unreal Enine 4 and he confirmed that the game is just poorly optimized and was rushedly ported over to the PS4. The PS4 is able to render medium to high PC setting any day of the week if it is just properly optimized. Unfortunately this is not often the case anymore. Consoles aren't as important as they were 15 years ago, so they often get the short end of the stick when at least the PC version can look amazing and is used for all promotional material.
