Picking random, then after rematch do I get a new random?

Monica wasn't the original one. If I recall correctly, she was added in DOAU. The original "Get Ready...Faaaah" voice you're referring to is called "DOA" or "DOA1". I can't remember exactly.

IMO, online needs to give you extra exp if you win a battle when you pick random.

I always pick random, and like when others pick random too. I like to call it random respect!

I have characters I am stronger with but have always picked random since DOA2U.

Ha ha, yeah. I think it's really cool that they implemented that feature. Same for the stages too.

Why in God's name would you pick random at all¿

You kidding me? I random in most games I play. When I feel like having some fun, nothing beats the rush of hitting random. Hell, I've been known to hit the ? in SSIV online from time to time, and pray I don't get guy...which I always do.
