True that Rikuto, but for those who care about Rank and don't want a casual match with a friend to directly affect their rating is understood why there should be "options". Like in SFIV, you get BP/PP points and a Grade for playing Ranked and if you lose, they deduct those points, so by playing endless battle, your "Grade" and or "Points" aren't affected towards those set of matches. Lol, I myself don't care about "Ranked" matches per-say, but I notice in FPS and Fighting games I spend the majority of my playtime in non-ranked sessions.

Anywho, regardless of what Team Ninja decides to do, this African American will be all up in DOA5 like Drugs were in Amy Winehouse...oh and no offense to the now deceased n talented singer...

So, wonder if TN will be showing that trailer later today?

Instead of using their own flawed ranking system, they should just do what Namco did and gain the rights to use VF's ranking system. It's well though-out and it's balanced.

The DOA4 ranking system could do with some tweaks if they were to use it again. The point gain and losses could be a bit extreme, and if you run back against someone who beat you from a lower rank, you don't get a balance of points back from what they took off you.

If equally skilled players were A and C, for example, trading matches off one another, would result in the players ranking moving more reasonably to the upper centre between the two and not punish the A so much.

Whatever though, people like to have both Ranked and Player match options. I hope they expand the online game modes a lot more creatively and integrate youtube uploading.

Supposedly, but no one was really sure, thus making me feel that Team Ninja should make the effort to translate their posts in English to lesser the confusion.

I don't know about that. The online mode could definitely use some improvement. I really like Soul Calibur 5's method of ranking where you get points whether or not you win, you just get significantly more if for winning and they aren't taken away from you for losing. DOA's method seems kind of harsh and discouraging towards newer players. I think giving players even something for losing and telling them they can get more for doing better is much more of an incentive to play than just punishing people right out the gate. This really isn't the thread for that discussion however.

I completely disagree. If you got ranking points for losing, within a year, everyone would be SS and there'd be no way to determine skill (not that ranking ever determined that anyway). You should lose points when you lose to someone of lower rank. Also, if you disconnect, the person with more rounds at the time of the disconnect should get the win and it should keep the loss server side so that when the "puller" logs back in, the loss is added to his record.

You should also get 0 points for beating someone more than one/two ranks below you. Granted, that encourages people to avoid playing lower ranking players, but it also prevents people from scamming points by beating up on low ranking players.

You pretty much described VF's ranking system (minus the issue regarding quitters), which I still think Tecmo should get the rights to use.

And it gives higher ranks a reason to not fight lower ranks as they are given no reward.

今日はDEAD OR ALIVEの「かすみ」の誕生日。皆で苺のミルフィーユを食べてお祝いしましょう!
"Today is the birthday of Dead or Alive's Kasumi. Let's celebrate by eating strawberry mille-feuille everyone!"

え?DEAD OR ALIVE 5での彼女はまだ公開しないのか?確かに…。もうちょっとお時間下さい!!
"What? Why isn't Dead or Alive 5 released yet? Surely... Please give us more time!!"

ヒトミの好きなスイーツである「ザッハトルテ」って皆さんご存知でした?私は知らなくて、お店で見つけたときに、「これがヒトミが好きなザッハトルテか!」と試してみた事を思い出しました。
Something like "Did you know that one of Hitomi's favorite sweets is the Sachertorte? When I found a Sachertorte at the store I said "Hitomi likes this?!" And remembered that I should try new things."

At least they didn't forget Kasumi's birthday. I think I'll get some strawberry millefeuille myself.

That said, Happy Birthday to Kasumi in advance.

Happy Birthday Kasumi!

Team Ninja should show us a DOA5 exclusive picture of her, but that's asking for too much. Dammit, NG3 needs to get here already.

Even though "statistics" are always kept regardless, I feel a player shouldn't be forced to put their rank on the table ever single time they fight online. Having choices for said players is always welcomed and fighters that has that is Street Fighter, BlazBlue, Mortal Kombat, Soul Calibur, Tekken, so on and so forth, hell, even Capcom, vs Snk 2 had it. Anywho, I really don't see it as a big deal, but I do feel it's a rather basic feature that is the norm in fighters today such as Spectator mode which every fighter from here on out should continue to have.

I don't think thats a good idea. Even around year 2 of DOA4 it was some what difficult to find someone who had more points that me ( I was a low S at the time). What will end up happening is that you'll have all these players who are really good but have very few opportunities to advance because the S and SS players have cordoned themselves off (As it happened in DOA4 before the mass exodus.)

You have to get points for betting lower levels, no matter if they are F-'s, you have to get something from playing these guys - otherwise people won't play them and you'll be doing a disservice to both players (I won't get my points and the bad player won't get better.)

Then again I think most of you want a more modern online component (I.e Ranked and Player Match modes) and if that is indeed the case then what Dr. Dogg proposes could work as long as you can't filter or see the rank of your opponent - Because if you can see the rank and you can filter and you DON"T get points for beating lower levels then, again, why would you ever play them?
