The player, I beat was butthurt, but why since Kasumi (well, everybody) can beat Alpha easily?
LOL - You have no clue what that term means! (It's a joke between friends of mine)
The picking a ninja:
What I mean is, (knowing how is can be flipped, I am aware of this), regarding matchups (this isn't me saying this), when many see Alpha, they think speed (ie: "I picked Bass! This is going to be a tough fight!") Yes, she has a definite speed advantage, but I've beaten Phase 4 and Christie, too. (Aren't they faster than Alpha, albeit slightly?) However, I've been beaten by Bass or have beaten him by not relying on speed alone! Nor, have I been beaten by him though he lacks advantage in this area - nor did he always rely on his power game to beat me though that's what he's built around!
What I'm saying is (and I can flip this) - the mentality is: "I need a faster character to beat a fast character!" aka "Ninja for ninja!" So, I've used this logic myself! (ie: Helena is slower than Ayane, but I'm cheating if I use Alpha! How aren't you since you're using Ayane?) IOW, I can't play MUs, but you can? I see!
Many have a problem with seeing mostly ninjas used online and offline - DOA tourneys, you just see top tier characters - not all are KARAHM - Christie and Helena are top tier for non-ninjas! A generalization, but making a point!
Someone over LIVE said that the ninjas can win by themselves (Alpha included) and I'm inclined to agree! Is this why you see them often, but characters like Eliot, Bayman, Tina, Leon, Bass - you have to do a ton seemingly because they lack what this game exerts and builds itself on: Speed! Of course, they make up for it with Throws/Damage output from them - which is something else that bothers me regarding Alpha - her throws (especially HiC), but everybody can HCT - everyone has a throw that does insane damage - even though they have to execute it more. (2 75HP HCTs from Bass, = One HC BURST from Alpha) yet, Bass can't win as he lacks speed? I don't buy that. He has throwing ability, yet Alpha cheats when using hers - and she doesn't have to utilize her most damaging one either.
I can't bitch if it's an Alpha mirror (unless I'm seeing some unsatisfying stuff in my eyes; iow, I don't just fight you, I watch you!), but I will be amazed if I'm having a bitch of a fight - win or lose! But we have the same strengths and weaknesses as characters, so it comes down to how the player is utilizing the character. More often then not, there is a definite contrast! Yet, MU wise, aren't things even? But I won't dare say: "You cheated!" cause in reality, I guess, both cheated since both of us used Alpha! (
@deathofaninja can attest to this! I've had wonderful fights with him, but I notice he's gauging where I am with Alpha as well; we've had lots of mirrors and sometimes no mirrors)
So, my question is: "How does Alpha 'cheat'?" Her moves are different, yes; however, she plays the same game! She can do all the same shit everyone else can: Strike, Throw, Combo, Mixup, Poke, Rush, Turtle, Condition, Bait, but dat damage! What does this make Bass, despite being heavier & slower - and he gets dat damage, too; yet, it's not a problem nor is he "cheating."
Again, the person I beat was butthurt, so he used my main as an excuse to why he was beaten. Worse, I've had players play shitty in mirrors, telling me I'm shit. Go lab it up only to show me up five minutes later. I don't mind if you lab it up to get better, but I can sense when you are trying to show me up, too. (Sometimes, this is a bad assumption, but this is why I hate mirror matches. I know where I sit with who I play. You needn't rub it in my face!)
@Argentus: hahaha ... no! XD
