I'm drunk right now so bear with me but isn't that what I said about not being able to play that stage if player X didn't buy it?
You were wrried that nobody in the lobby would be able to play the DLC stages at all, which in fact you could and even with the player who doesn't have said stage they just wouldn't be able to choose it themselves, much like how playing a DLC character vs a player who doesn't own said character.

Which is why I said it's not fair if I had to pay for the stage and pick it while the other player gets to play it for free. There is a difference between characters and stages. Not paying for a character means you don't get to play the character. Not paying for a stage based on what you're saying is getting to play it only when the other picks it (but you still get to play it nonetheless).

They only get to play it if you pick it though, if its up to random or they have to pick they cannot play that stage, that how CF stages that are locked works.

Okay think about what I'm saying. Pretend you're a player who solely fights online. You decide not to buy the stage and it turns out that the majority of players have bought it anyway. That stage is put in the mix of possible stages every time you verse a player who bought it and you get to fight on the stage fairly often since it has just a good of chance of being picked as any other one for online fights. You are getting to play for free what other players had to pay for which is why I do not believe stages should cost anything.

On the other hand if it can't be picked at all because one player didn't buy it, you as the player who paid $5 has to bank on the fact that the other player had also bought the stage otherwise you won't get to play it. Meaning you paid $5 just to hope to be able to play that stage online.

Either option is shitty imo.

Well, everyone I play always chooses random so I don't play any of the 5U stages because they're all locked, I only get to play Forest, Lost World etc. IF they manually choose it which practically nobody I play manually chooses stages they just mash X on random and we just play the boring vanilla stages instead.

That's what I'm trying to say, the player who does not have that stage cannot play the DLC stage UNLESS it is manually picked which not many people actually do in my experience so that player still does not get to play that stage, this is a system that is already implemented in the game via Core Fighters and works quite well.

But I don't really see what the fuss is anyway because if they were going to sell stages they would have done so by now.

I do not regret coming to this. To answer why you are still wearing pants, it is simply my boy: You are drunk and need to sober up in order to be done with such trivial things like clothing. I personally walk to the store fully nude everyday. I mean, who doesn't?

I miss the stage from 3 that had the breakable title floors like those old 70s kung fu movies. As for stage exclusivity it doesn't work I played many games where stages were exclusive to A) pre orders or B) collectors editions. And I never played these stages even when they were released still dead. I'd rather suck it up and play with moochers. Or like grunt said have be selectable only by me. This issue was in every genre from shooters (Lost Planet 1-2) to fighting games (KI) but mostly prominent in shooters.

Why am I still wearing pants

I'd make a Herbert joke about agreeing with you, and taking those pants off and snuggling by the fire. But I feel kind off today. Also if you wanna hear about scumbag dlc practices Square Enix cut out JP voices from Drakenguard 3 and sold them for $4.99.
