The Art Style and Graphics Discussion

That comparison video was really well done. Kens hair looks like plastic stuck to his head in V but his face looks better. Its still hideously ugly but its better. I have to say I do think V looks better in every expect but I don't see the intricate things like shadow dithering.

The shadow dithering can hardly be seen in Youtube videos due to their strong image compression but in actual gameplay it's very visible and really jarring. I have to sit very far from the TV to not notice it as strongly.

Here's a good example. Just look at Nash's face. D:

In the past I have often complained about graphical discrepancies in games...but this somehow puts everything more into perspective for me. We actually can be glad this is the first and hopefully the last time we see something like this. I take aliasing, washed out textures or missing anisotropic floor texture filtering any day over this ugly mess. For me (and apparently many others) it completely ruins the game's visuals.

Okay yeah I saw it on that image if your talking about the little black dots on his face. Considering they will probably ( definitely ) release a Super Street Fighter V they could take the complaints into consideration and fix them. Obviously they should do it as a free patch but... Its Capcom.

The game releases in less than two months. :) (Not much time for a surprise graphical downgrade. XD)

It looks incredible! I'm guessing your getting it? I've never played uncharted but it does look fun from what's been shown.

I did only play the demo of the Uncharted Collection and to be honest I found the gameplay and handling clunky and odd...but to wash away the very bad aftertaste in my mouth of Street Fighter 5 and to experience what that console graphically is actually capable of, I guess I have to buy it. Uncharted is THE Playstation exclusive after all. :)

Regarding Street fighter 5 I got in touch with a tech expert (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC7Jo0VTzeyYbZ8cVk3k-EhA) and he confirmed to me that Street Fighter 5's graphics engine (based on Unreal Engine 4) is unoptimized on PS4 and was probably very hastily ported to the console. The PS4 should have no problems handling high resolution shadowing and texturing. As it stands now the PS4 only handles low to medium settings for SF5. And there are even parts like the awful shadow dithering and some background textures that are not even to be found on the lowest settings on PC. Normally the Playstation is able to handle up to high settings and that in graphically far more taxing games like The Witcher 3 or Arkham Knight... Everything about that mess of a game is rushed and unfinished. :( I wished I could fully refund it. Ironically on PC (Steam) I could of course. The PS4, even though Sony funded that game, got the short end of the stick. I won't touch that garbage again until it is fixed. That's the one good news I got from the tech guy. It should be possible to patch in graphical updates and he thought it was pretty likely to happen.

Well that's good that if Capcom decide to put in the effort they should be able to make the game look better. Considering this is the latest street fighter game and there life spans are huge they should be supporting this game for a long time.

And when it comes to uncharted I also played the demo for the collection and instantly stopped because the controls were so terrible so I hope they've fixed that for 4.

Lol, I'm somehow glad you felt the exact same way. They have to fix it then. ;)

And finally they revealed some of the new dlc outfits for DOA. Uncharted really looks great in those gifs. I love how video game characters can have a bomb go off right in their face and fly 50 ft and still be completely fine!

I watched the trailer and I somehow didn't realise its like the final game in the saga. I always like villainess femme fatales so I think I'll like the woman strangling (what ever is name is I've seriously forgotten it). The thing that always held me back from playing the games in the past was the main characters (sonic the hedgehod syndrome) trademarked jadeinchains. Which is when a character is constantly a cocky douche and the creators are under the illusion that makes them likeable.

OMG, at first everyone was all like "Ahhhh! *A*" and "Ooooh! *o*" regarding the new trailer, now a shit storm is brewing. XD Naughty Dog apparently illegally used an Assassin's Creed illustration in the trailer and people quickly caught onto that:

I'm just at a loss for words how this could even happen... I imagine professionals are working on a game like this. And every professional knows you can get into deep shit for copyright infringements. No professional designer would just take a random image from somewhere and put it in/on some product. If it's not your own you have to buy the rights to reuse it in a commercial way.
When I published my Eliot design in that one book about character design I had to ask Team Ninja for permission first and when they allowed it the book publisher still demanded a signed, legally binding permission (which Team Ninja was so kind to give) to really make sure everything is alright with the copyrights. That's how serious this is normally taken in the industry.

That's just embarrassing. Never take another person's work without permission, they're gonna sue a hole in your wallet for pulling stuff like that.

It really is a serious criminal offense. Lets see how Ubisoft will react... Naughty Dog and Uncharted is practically owned by Sony so I can't image them really going to court over this. That would be very unwise for Ubisoft. I can imagine them laughing it off...if they want to or not. ;)

Edit:
They already edited the trailer:

Moving this in here:

Looking back at this (because reasons) it kind of bugs me that there's no change in his pecs with his arms raised. A person irl raises their arms and their pec muscles stretch sideways and up. Games besides those current gen UFC ones need to start implementing that it's extremely important D:<

Lol, is that so? XD Street Fighter 5 is actually doing a quite good job in that regard too, especially with the very bulky characters like Zangief or Birdie.

It's probably no easy task. It's basically DOA5LR/DOAX3's Soft Engine on the hole body.

There's just no bounce there...yet. ;)
