Team Ninja shares additional details on the next Dead or Alive 5 patch

While a solid roll out date still hasn't been nailed down for the next upcoming Dead or Alive 5 patch, director Yohei Shimbori was kind enough to share a few tweets on some additional features that we'll see, noting that the next patch will be a major update.

One of the cool additions Shimbori mentioned is that we'll be seeing the popular demand to save replays of lobby matches, along with the ability to now kick unwanted players from your lobby as well.

Here are the additional patch details from Shimbori:

[D-YS] I was able to check some stuff about the next patch this week, so I'll tweet a little bit about it.

[D-YS] First off, you will now be able to save replays of lobby matches.

[D-YS] A lot of people were asking for that feature, so we worked hard to put it in.

[D-YS] Also, the host of a lobby match will now be able to kick a waiting player out of a lobby, even while they're watching a match.

[D-YS] Also, you'll be able to search for lobbies by connection quality.

[D-YS] There are lots of other improvements and additions too. The next patch is going to be a major update.

[D-YS] I'll fill you in on more details as soon as I can confirm them myself (including the patch release date...)

Update for December 29th
[D-YS] The next patch is named "Ver.1.03". The name might be boring, but it has a lot of new features.

[D-YS] One of those features is uploading movies of replays.

[D-YS] I tested it by uploading a movie to YouTube.

[D-YS] Ver.1.03 will allow uploads to both YouTube and Facebook.

[D-YS] Facebook uploads are available to both Xbox 360 and PS3. YouTube uploads can only be performed from a PS3.

[D-YS] So now, even people without video capture equipment can upload fight videos.

[D-YS] Fighters from around the world can now watch others' fights.

[D-YS] And did you catch some of the little tweaks to the fighting game itself?

[D-YS] Now that we have this feature, maybe I'll upload another movie soon...

Great stuff in the new patch.
Common gameplay improvements like the life adjustment, sidestep active window increased and recovery reduced, Wakeup kicks only small stun, slip stages only slip on counter hit (fixing eote), many smart little changes
The. There's the new moves and tweaks plus the general usability improvements like ranked mode and that exhibition mode will make it the most tournament friendly game around

These patch changes should get their own thread btw there is a lot here

This makes Doa very solid and more than worthy for Evo - get those donations in
 
@Havik: You better believe I did.

Now for the characters, I'm happy with a lot. Jann got a damage nerf which is fine by me, and YES to his sidestep P being disadvantage now. Lei got a few good changes, some nerfs too, most notably to 1P+K. Certain chars got faster, most buffed, some nerfed. Kokoro got some hefty nerfs herself, sad but true. Mila's takedown speed was nerfed but the damage was buffed a little... I can live with this.

...Why did Sarah and Pai get buffs when they were already ridiculous? They're disgusting now. Shoutouts to Pai's 66H+K losing it's ground bounce though. Alpha is probably the most retarded of the changes though. I did not expect her to get hit so hard with the nerf bat, or get nerfed at all... at least give her a wakeup kick if you're going to nerf her that hard.

Oh boy now let's get to the 5 characters I use from bottom to top. From the looks of it.. all my mains got buffed.

RIG: Buffs out the wazoo. He's much MUCH faster. 10 frame jab, 13 frame mid punch, he's safer, gets advantage off his F.Stance throw now, buffed sidestep speed, a CB from his stance, 2KK in F.Stance is a natural combo AND he's safer? Dude just went up a tier, real talk.

ELIOT: Not much to say, he got less safe, a little more damage on his sidestep. I'd be more inclined to say he got worse actually. Sad for him, it'll be a tough road for Eliot mains. Sorry to say.

HITOMI: She got a lot better. More safety, more tracking which was one of her weakpoints. Her best gap closer is not only safe but has advantage now. Buffed throw damage and her combo kick enders are unholdable now on top of being -1? Sick. Oh and her SS kick is safe now, awesome. Hitomi players should be happy.

HAYATE: This guy... oh man did he get better. My GOD did he get better. Let's see... new transitions into his wind dash allowing for new mixups, combo extenders and higher damage juggle combos? check. 4P stunning on normal hit and it's mid punch followup being a GB with advantage? check. All his GB charge finishers actually being useful on block AND having faster startup? check. Sit...down stuns... from his P+K and... even his 3K and 214P on crouching opponents? And the P+K sit-down is on normal hit? check... Wind dash K is -5 like it was in DOA4? check. Oh man he may be a threat now. 236K could be a little more than +1 on block and I was hoping some of his pokes would become a little safer but I'm pretty happy with his changes, I will continue to 2nd him. Hayate players, rejoice! Oh yeah and he got the Raijin back and it's slightly easier to do now, that's neat too.

AKIRA: Heh... heh heh heh... oh yes let's see... A new sidestep, can't wait to see what it is. Easier inputs on some of his awkward moves... a P+K buff.. a juggle buff to his 6KP.. tracking on his 214P+K. Wh-What's this? a faster sidestep?... heh heh.. heh. Wait we're not done?... a damage buff... to... every... single combo finisher he has? Jesus Christ.. oh and look a 2T buff for good measure. You all better watch out, Akira players just got a lot more dangerous. I wanted a bit more advantage on certain moves and a few stun changes, but this definitely leveled up my main. Get ready, I'm coming for all ya'll.
 
Yes the Vf characters were so lwo tier and trash. They needed everything....Akira didn't get buff he got performance drugs Zeo. You like Zack's changes? I Also think Eliot is actually a mid tier character.....

But I'm kind of mad I can't call Hayate the low tier ninja anymore....but I expect 3 out of the 4 ninjas to get more love....

I was hoping a buff to her sit down or something. The only thing I'm confised about is the high kick parry thing. I think its saying that string ender is hold resistant now.

I think it's BS the patch is coming out a week later on the 360. Fortunately I have both versions, unfortunately, the ps3 version is shit.

I just started reading through it and I found this pretty funny but also very good.

"Changed default health from 300 to 270 for all modes except Story."

It seems they certainly do pay attention to this forums as the health thing was a pretty big debate.
The changes of Hitomi are amazing but I wish she had sit-down stuns, new moves and her :K::2::K::P:: from DOA4 :( but I'm very happy the Ryu's 8T and his Ongyoin teleport throw is now a OH :eek: and finally they increased the crouching speed, I've been waiting for them to address this issue for a very looong time :). Most of these changes are quite pleasant, but unfortunately some of these nerfs may piss off some fans :(


Edit: Don't worry Raansu the PSvita version will shit all over the PS3 version ;) lol. Well at least TN is showing some love for the PS3, unlike most game companies out here :rolleyes:

Christie gets an unholdable limbo stun from her 6p poke on counter hit, a deadly faint stun from P+K on counter hit, and an unholdable sit-down stun from 3k on counter hit while the opponent is crouching (that's like a second option to punish low holds). She also has zero advantage from 9p and her back-turned p. I wonder what she'll be capable of following up with now that the disadvantage from those two attacks are gone.

Wow, Christie gets a faint stun... a friggin' faint stun that tracks and another sit-down stun that tracks. I can't get over that. This is like Les Miserables... I'm crying now. I'm crying my ass off in happiness.

Sadly no BGM Customization included, which is a load of bullpoop. But I can ignore that now that Akira sits back on the high tier throne like he was in VF5. Don't care about tiers at all though. I'm just glad he's much stronger to make up for his lack of mixup variety :U

I was. Good eye my friend. I know they were already good...why did they give them drugs? This isn't cool man. I thought they were good, since day one....I didn't expect them besides that baby Korean backdash to change.
 
They just became stupid. People though Jann Lee's damage was too much? They just buffed the shit out of Akira's damage AND the default health got lowered to 270. Have fucking fun.
 
Hitomi, Kasumi, Ayane, Akira, Hayate, Ryu, Lisa aaaand Hayate are buffed.....Thank You TN :)

Edit: Hitomi is more safer this time around, :6::6::h::+::K: becomes a guard break, her damage output is upgrade and her 6kkk ends with a ground bounce?!!? FUCKING AWESOME!!!!!!! :eek: I reall HATE to see other characters suffer from the neft bat, very unpleasant :mad:
 
I really love Ryu and Hayate's changes! So glad that Hayabusa's 8T is and Offensive Hold even with the damage nerf. I really like the fact that he got an expert mid kick hold too in order to make him more grappler-like. Great job Team Ninja!
However, I'm a little upset with Alpha-152's nerfs. :7::K: no longer being a guard break was already enough, but the damage nerfs on her offensive holds and on 33T were unnecessary. I can understand :8::F+P: and :214::426::F+P:, but :3::3::F+P: and :6::6::F+P: :5: :2::F+P: were just unnecessary. I don't even care about the damage buff to :236::236::F+P:. However, I am happy that :6::6::P: is now high. Oh well...at least I might be able to play Hayabusa again now.
 
This patch is awesome, they really addressed alot of issues. Love the buff to sidesteps, it was a mechanic rarely used, now I hope it will be used more.

I'm in the same boat with Awesmic, crying with happiness. Especially Hitomi's 66P+K becoming a guard break, I'm gonna abuse that to no end.
 
So what's the summary on character changes? (characters Buffed, mostly the same, nerfed)...

What about Brad BTW?
