Team Ninja shares additional details on the next Dead or Alive 5 patch

Team Ninja.jpg

While a solid roll out date still hasn't been nailed down for the next upcoming Dead or Alive 5 patch, director Yohei Shimbori was kind enough to share a few tweets on some additional features that we'll see, noting that the next patch will be a major update.

One of the cool additions Shimbori mentioned is that we'll be seeing the popular demand to save replays of lobby matches, along with the ability to now kick unwanted players from your lobby as well.

Here are the additional patch details from Shimbori:

[D-YS] I was able to check some stuff about the next patch this week, so I'll tweet a little bit about it.

[D-YS] First off, you will now be able to save replays of lobby matches.

[D-YS] A lot of people were asking for that feature, so we worked hard to put it in.

[D-YS] Also, the host of a lobby match will now be able to kick a waiting player out of a lobby, even while they're watching a match.

[D-YS] Also, you'll be able to search for lobbies by connection quality.

[D-YS] There are lots of other improvements and additions too. The next patch is going to be a major update.

[D-YS] I'll fill you in on more details as soon as I can confirm them myself (including the patch release date...)

Update for December 29th
[D-YS] The next patch is named "Ver.1.03". The name might be boring, but it has a lot of new features.

[D-YS] One of those features is uploading movies of replays.

[D-YS] I tested it by uploading a movie to YouTube.

[D-YS] Ver.1.03 will allow uploads to both YouTube and Facebook.

[D-YS] Facebook uploads are available to both Xbox 360 and PS3. YouTube uploads can only be performed from a PS3.

[D-YS] So now, even people without video capture equipment can upload fight videos.

[D-YS] Fighters from around the world can now watch others' fights.

[D-YS] And did you catch some of the little tweaks to the fighting game itself?

[D-YS] Now that we have this feature, maybe I'll upload another movie soon...

Update for January 10th
[D-YS] Happy new year!

[D-YS] I'm starting the year off with another upload of Ver.1.03 footage. This time to YouTube. #DOA5

[D-YS] This time, we have La Mariposa vs. Hayate, and I'm sure you'll notice changes in this fight too. #DOA5

[D-YS] We haven't practiced the new moves enough to use them well, but... #DOA5

[D-YS] I'm sure all of you will show us what these moves can do! (video uploads ftw) #DOA5

[D-YS] There are lots of new features in Ver.1.03 for all players, not just hard-core fans. We'll post the full list of changes soon! #DOA5

There's a news thread on this already, so they'll probably lock your thread.

Although from my perspective, we should have a thread in the DOA5 forum. I ignore pretty much any other forum on the site, including the main page and the news forum.
Yeah same here, well might as well make the most of it while it lasts. How do you feel about Helena's changes? I was hoping for better sit down stuns, +13 is hot garbage...

Also, i didn't even know about the update notes until i visited Eventhubs, this should be the first article at least on the front page, imo.

It is, but it was added to the big patch article that's been going for a month.

I just responded on Twitter, but I'm not happy with Helena's changes. 66P and the like getting fixed to DOA4 frame data is nice, but she didn't get what she needed beyond that. With the big Mila nerfs, it looks like I'll be a Rig main now. It's sad, because while Rig got buffed, it wasn't what he needed. He's still not very good.

Can someone clarify what "Helena's stun on 3KK is invulnerable, just like other stuns" means? Does that mean it is a natural combo, and that there are more in the game?

Does Helena still have her force tech nonsense? Cause the buffs she gotaren't enough to compnsate for its loss.

Universal health bitches. DOA5 is getting Obamacare early!

Seems like the ground game is still intact, but may be too early to tell.

I *think* it means you can't loop those attacks anymore and keep the opponent stunned. Not entirely sure...

3kk allowed her to keep the stun going, so maybe something to do with that.

I didn't really understand Mila's changes, any chance you can give me the gist of them?

What does added half hit attribute mean?

I really hope we can keep this thread and discuss the general changes to DOA5 as a whole with civility and peace.
Here hoping, I'm absolutely gutted at Helena's changes though. Her sit down stuns are still absolutely worthless. +13? What am I meant to do with that? Oh I get a free 3P... Yay!

My hope was that every character was going to get access to guaranteed set ups like the current top tiers but Team Ninja seem to have by passed that idea.

Here's to 7 more years of playing DOA4.5 my fellow Helena players...

It is special properties on "tip hit" (max range hit, when attack barely reaches). On tip hit some low attacks do half damage (on normal hit) and have different properties.
So that would be a nerf? Lovely... It's not much of a nerf but still.

At least they patched the "teleport" quick back dashing glitch that a handful of characters had.And the VF characters got buffs.

thanks for clarifying this, this explains why some of Lisa's lows don't do much at max range.

Never stop posting.

Oh, yea, and I won't lock this right now. I'm in a state of bliss over Bayman's buff.

... yes, singular. He got one real buff. But my god, was it a buff...
What potential dmg can you think of with his sit down stun Rikuto?

P+K is a 19 frame mid punch that grants a sit down stun on a standing opponent, but only on normal hit. It has no range so this only happened if you got them really scared of offensive holds after force techs.

It guarantees.... 3K, which is an attack that that grants a CH sit-down on crouching opponents, or ones that are already in sit-down stuns. This guarantees a launch.... which guarantees a juggle into ground throw, or juggle into force tech.... which resets the whole situation.

After the patch, P+K works on CH. This increases its viability tenfold. The only thing that remains to be seen is if it works inside of stun as well. Common logic says that it would, but you never know. They do some crazy things.

If P+K works in stun then Bayman is top tier. No question about it. It'll be E3 all over again and I will be laughing upon my throne of skulls.

I feel sad for Eliot players. Don't know why they shit on him with those changes. Reminds me of T. Hawk 2012 patch notes

Without low tier characters how would we know who the top tier characters are?

Kokoro got hit with the nerf bat, absolutely delicious nerfs.
