wtf is wrong with these people. I go into ranked match and if the match is lagging I wont try my hardest to win because its LAGGING for christs sake. the whole match is pointless. I even let the other person im fighting win if its lagging too hard (without letting them know so they dont stop and waste time). then these retards will taunt when they win.

if ur gonna taunt, do it in rounds 1 and 2 aswell otherwise ur just a big pussy who isnt sure if youre going to win. if im taunting someone ill taunt them every round because i know i have a good chance of winning.

im deciding if im gonna have no respect to anyone online and just taunt everyone because it seems like 2/3rds of the online community is really angry especially when they win, theyll smash ur body when they just stood still for the 1st 2. id bet my life id beat all of these kids in a 1st to 5.

There's actually a thread on taunting etiquette but in response to your frustration I guess just don't let it get to you. Also not everyone taunts because they think they're going to win and it does depend on the actual taunt (Ayane's "loser" is always disrespectful imo). For example if I versed you and you stopped fighting b/c of lag I would use Eliot's "Quit fooling around" b/c I'd rather you at least try and fight me rather than throw in the towel b/c you don't want to try in a lagging match.

And you're not a moron.
they teach u educated guessing in school, learn it some time. u can easily make educated guesses on what move the opponent is going to do next based on the advantage theyd get from it. i always know when to pre-counter high, especially when the frames are even because i know theyre going to try pp low attack.

Probably the best comparison I've read. I'm tired of hearing about the stupid "rock-paper-scissors" theory that people won't shut up about. lol

Gonna be honest, I near enough always taunt at the end of a close game, but I only ever use Leons taunt where he crosses his arm over his chest and shouts. I don't really do his thumbs down one. But I don't really do it to prove a point, or to deliberately piss my opponent off, I just do it because it's a celebration of a good match to me, but I'm 90% certain that nobody else will agree with me here.

Don't take offence to this, but it's just a game. If somebody taunts you, taunt back. Letting things like that get to you will only make the game worse for you. The taunts are in the game, so people are going to use them whether or not you care for them, or not. Just shrug it off, or don't accept matches from laggy people that way you can have your revenge! ;P

wow thx a lot man. Yeah you're right. I wish I knew in advance who's going to taunt me lol. I dont want to disrespect someone who doesn't deserve it ^-^

If someone absolutely destroys me one round then taunts me I step up my game, go super aggressive, and do my best to win. Once I do win I taunt as to say "I let you win that one," or "I am better than you." I only taunt if someone else taunts, no point otherwise.

Edit: Here is an example at 2:05.

I've actually mapped my button layout so that I can't taunt because I got tired of doing them accidentally. If someone taunts me then like XZero, I get super aggressive. When I win, I spam Ryu's 9P to hop over them, use his 3P+K P+K teleport or do floor grabs if it's Leon.

And if they're Alpha I just spam Ryu's 2P+K 6P+K over and over. 'cause fuck Alpha

My personal philosophy is-

taunting, teabagging, tapping guard, dancing, overkill (e.g. running all the way across the screen after a knockback KO and 2King), etc., etc...

is OK when you're at a tournament. Especially so the more people are watching, especially so if your match is being streamed.

It's a tactical decision then, to enrage your opponent and prevent them from thinking. Also, you run the risk of your opponent physically reaching over and knocking you the %^&* out so it's a balanced maneuver. No patch needed.

Online, where you don't know people, where nothing is on the line, which is only supposed to be for training and matchup experience because of the inherent flaws... Doing it online is just disrespectful. There's no need for that.

The taunts in DOA can't even be cancelled and must progress through the full animation (unlike other games, where taunts can be used as bait or to make the opponent flinch) so... literally their only purpose is disrespect.

Now like I said before, don't get me wrong- in tournament, disrespect is good! If you respect your opponent too much they might run all over you. You can lose easily by "being nice".

But online? We're all friends (or at least civilized people), we're here to have fun, it's online casuals. Why do you have to antagonize people you don't know a thousand miles away?

That being said when people do it I just shrug it off. Some people don't see it as disrespect, and even if they do, it just means that if I'm on the receiving end of it I need to get better.

Im just hearing a whole lot of bitching and this is coming from a guy who only uses the "good luck" taunt at the beginning of matches.

So how many taunts does Helena have ? I have just seen one new.
I couldn't find a video featuring of all them clearly...

Oh okay, thanks! i wish she had a reverence/bow like in opera/ballet instead of all these taunt "swaps".
This really pissed me off with Kasumi. They were like "now she has 4 taunts!" but all they did was add one and then stuck 3 phrases on it. I would love it if all the characters were like Lei Fang with a good amount of taunts and no repeat poses-

"Easy!" "Easy, too easy!" "Getting tired?" "Up for more?" "Your move!" "Gotcha!"

are all completely different.

Yeah, and now they will probably not take them off or replace them, because some angry fans would be yelling that they want them back.
One new taunt was enough for both Kasumi and Helena. Now it just looks like muddled and lazy.

Helena (DOA6) :
- BKO transition 464
- "Oh dear" 646
- Opera bow 236

At least your characters got new taunts.

Sorry, I didn't want to sound capricious, especially since that's just a small detail. Helena only had one taunt (without an actual quote) for 4 games and one "good" would have been enough.
Okay shut up Kwon.

Gen Fu should have one where he stroke his beard slowly with a deep quote like "the Changjiang River waves behind drive the waves ahead." (the energy of the new generation inspires the old).
