They all scream DoA4...Hitomi needing 4-5 hits to get a CB...screw that. Low holds out of stuns...to hell with that. I'm fed up with the game and it's not even out yet. I'm fed up with defensive holds in general. Should only be able to use them in neutral and the stun game should of been completely reworked. Maybe DoA6 will be good *rolls eyes*

Except for the wall game, guaranteed ground throws, holds doing shit damage, stuns being harder to attain, limbo stuns, non universal offensive holds, etc. . . it's DOA4 for sure.

Yeah, it's DOA 4.2, which NO ONE wants to play.

I was exaggerating because everything I listed goes against anything DOA4 represents. Right now we have players playing new build of the game, and not being properly used to all the hit property changes, frame data changes, and all the other nuances that signifigantly alter the way the game is played. So they rely on the game they've played signifigantly more.

With these matches, no one was afraid to go on the offense. Because relying on the hold system in this build is too much of a risk and completely not worth it. Damage is heavily skewed toward offense, and that's nothing like DOA4.

Those are enough changes to be a different game. But if calling it DOA 4.2 makes you feel any better why not?

Unfortunately, that doesn't make it a decent game. I still can't figure out why they make the decisions they do. It only hurts the game, and the community.

I've been really trying to keep interested in this game, but they're making it very hard to do so. I hope they can make some positive changes before it comes out

Inmedialty holding after stun and thus bypassing stun and being able to block after is still in, which completely fucks the game up. Low holding is still a way tooooooo strong defensive tool WHILE in stun.

I think because of those 2 things alone, the game is too similar to DOA4 in Raansus eyes, to be honest in mine too, although i do like the changes to other system mechanics that take doa5 away from doa4.

I wonder though... have you guys ever asked yourselves why does holding return you to neutral state after being stunned? Like i never asked myself that question until today. Like once youre stunned, if you hold and your opponent does nothing, you just go through the hold animation and return to neutral... shouldnt you return to being stunned if the hold didnt hold anything and you werent hit while holding? Holds work like fast slow escpaing in a way... they werent even designed for that. Holds were designed to counter (their name is counter holds right?) an opponents move, so why do they just interrupt stun status and bring you back to neutral?

I think there relies a huge problem with holds

You can't bypass stun by holding out of it, it's extended and goes deeper if you hit them while in stun.

If the attacker stopped attacking completely then his "turn" should be over.

From what I've seen, DOA5 is more like 2/3 than 4.DOA4 was very limited (read:practically non-existent) in the guaranteed damage department.

Also, it's not like that low hold shit was exclusive to DOA4. I have limited experience with 3, so I can't speak for it, but that shit was definitely in 2. The hold system itself is faulty, and it's likely that you will just have to accept it.

Low hold can be changed signifigantly with a little amount of work. Adding more recoevery frames, making their hitboxes bigger so that highs hit them, etc. ..

I'd just be happy with them changing it so all moves get you hit, and not being able to avoid highs. It just rewards the defender more.

You can bypass stun by holding, thats the problem.

If you hold the first few frames after getting stunned, thanks in part to being able to hold inmediatly after stun, in part to the 13 frame hold recovery, and in part to the attacker having to go through the recovery of his OWN ATTACK, and then his next attack having an X ammount of frames of startup, you end up in a situation where the defender succesfully bypassed stun by holding inmediatly and is able to block the next attack.

That fucks the stun game completely over

I also wonder why he won't hide the display ? Just a quick push on Select should do the trick from what I can gather.

It hides the entire HUD, so you wouldn't be able to see the life bars.

Are there any videos of people who understand the game system? It's all videos of people just blocking strings back and forth, no attempts to throw punish at all.

Even the people who made the game don't seem to know how to throw punish, it's so weird to watch.

Did you ever consider the fact that A LOT of the moves you think are punishable are not? o_0

Yay less punishable moves. I hope this applies a lot with Kasumi then.

I agree that holding out of stun and CB being so hard to obtain is stupid but calling this DOA4.2 is completely wrong. These players, while much better than the scrubs at Tougeki and Gamescom, are still very new to the game and obviously not doing many things the game already has.

DOA5 has too many new mechanics and fixed things. It looks more like DOA3 to me than anything.

Keep in mind none of my mains are in the game. Lisa is my only hold over from DOA4 and she basically plays the same, with a few new tools of varying usefulness.

Although I enjoy Bass, he's not really my play style. I just like the fact that I can ignore the stun system for the most part. Wait until Season's Beatings, then you'll see me at full power.

everyone is pissed about the low hold and i understand that but adding an oversized hit box is strange to me.Why not simply add a rise animation during the recovery?

In any 2D fighting game ,between the crouch and idle animation you have a rise animation.if they made it like the sit down stun ,where the opponent is struggling trying to stand up it could be more fair an realistic visually.Or simply consider the stun a CB if you hit middle on a low hold, rewarding a good read.In vf5 stagger was dangerous. Why not doing something equivalent?

thanks for the new set of vids Master_Thespian.

I understand man, don't worry I think you're doing an amazing job. I'd rather see 100 Bayman and Bass videos from you than the crap from Tougeki and Gamescom.

Hm... what happened to Tina's idle animation though¿ Is it still there¿
