After taking a deeper look at both sketches, I think I like the second one better. It jest seems more detailed. You should go with that one man

I got this unhealthy obsession for heeled spats at the moment. I just don't know why... Sorry if they look a bit too clunky lol.
As much as I want to put Helena in a dress like most would, I want to revive her "overdecorated extravagance" like a lot of the other costumes she had from the past.
Anyways, what do you think? Should I try other colors? Change the boots itself into something more form-fitting? Change the color of the ermine fur collar and ruffles to white?

I like the design and for me the colors are fine, by the way I think that you should try to make the changes that you said about the boots and the collar, IMO they could improve it.

Hmmm Sarah's outfit doesn't look too similar to Lei Fang's C3, it's okay. However, I think you should give it to Rachel or someone else, as Sarah is probably not part of the event.
I like the idea of reviving Helena from her DOA2 era.
Regarding the drawing itself, make sure to draw the accessories bigger (shoes, locket, patterns on the collar, even the ribbon) so TN can have a real idea of what you were thinking. Otherwise it looks great, I understand what you have in mind. It also reminds me of Ivy's C1 in SC5 and Helena's C5 in DOA2 hehe.
And I like the colors this way. I can't think of better colors actually.. Gold and purple are linked to luxury and extravagance, it's perfect (that's exactly what my marketing teacher said this morning so I'm just parroting her). Here is some chocolate for having worked hard.

I'll get on to that later on. I feel somewhat impartial about the gold pants as well for some reason. In general, it feels like the perfect outfit Helena would wear cheering for the Lakers in a basketball game. xD

You should re-draw it in black and white and bigger, and then color it on the computer in order to test the colors by yourself. ^_^

My computer has been disassembled ages ago. OTL I mostly operate stuff by iPhone. I took a scan of my drawing by using a scanner app.
I think I'll go for white/purple as it is kinda versatile.

I'm really hoping both the Mila and Leon designs will win. @DontForkWitMe technically designed the Leon outfit, but I'm kinda proud of drawing it so ill just call Dibs on any Mila related merchandise rewards if that somehow wins. So i fixed this sketch up a bit and thought some red lace would be nice but now i'm stuck on the color of the buttons and don't know what to do for it, also any critiques would be nice becuase it's helena and it needs to be a bit more extravagant

Don't add more details or accessories, it's enough in my opinion (I don't like overdesigned costumes but that's just me).
Just like Raw, you should draw the buttons and the necklace in details on the side to show TN what they should create.

Nothing was said about, but I could try to ask them if it's possible to draw outfits for the VF characters: if TN will answer to me I will post here their statement.
By the way it's important to realize a thing: until now the contest appear to be just for the best outfits, not for the best outfits in relationship to the character. TN has only said that some creations could become part of the game, but wasn't specifed that in that case the same will be necessarily addressed just to the character thought by the authors of it: indeed I think that would be theoretically possible to draw only the outfit without drawing also the character wearing it.
Generally this should be the rule, even because I think that almost everyone will create an outfit thinking to the characteristics of who in his mind could wear it, but in the contest of DoA4 an Eliot's oufit ended to be weared in the game by Ein:
So what I want say is that, taking the DoA4 contest like reference, even if you are thinking to create an outfit for a certain character, not necessarily it could be weared by it (for this reason it's maybe useless to think if the VF charas can or less to partecipate in the contest).

@Kronin. Do you know if I'm allowed to be the artist of two different submissions? Like Mila is designed by me, Leon by Fork, but I drew both? or would they be disqualified? AAnd am I allowed to resubmit an updated or revised version of an earlier submission? And do the submissions have to be in color? That's an issue for me...

Im not going to bother posting any suggestions until this comp is over, because TN are probably looking at fan art suggestions/entries primarily, for their next costume pack.
