I know what it IS, I'm just saying what it looked like on Kasumi lol.

Also what the hell is with the skirt being shorter than the bloomers. Is this like, the inverse of kids wearing their pants so low their boxers are hanging out the top?

Its like reverse thug lol

How is this an ugly costume? it doesn't suit her, true. But it's not ugly lol o_o also this is Gracia from SW2/3/4. ( Also Warriors orochi... which these costumes were promotions for. )

Are you kidding me, it's all over the place? XD As a designer I can tell you, it's just tacky and mismatched. Those bloomers under the mini plaid skirt in an otherwise mostly Asian inspired costume looks absolutely ridiculous.

Gracia isn't an entirely Asian character. She's very influenced by western culture and I think it was the Catholic religion? You'd have to read the history behind her. But she is western influenced, hence the costumes she seem to get aren't very... Japanese in comparison to the rest.

And no @Tyaren.... no I'm not kidding you. I think the costume is unique, and quite cute. It just doesn't suit Kasumi. Would look much better on someone like Marie.

Yes, it would suit Marie "better". Still it's a mess. And it also doesn't really matter, if the character is half Western and Asian. Those elements just don't mix like that way.

Man, I wished, I was more proficient in English, to give better explanations and also use the right/professional terminology. :/

You can't really prove me wrong when we're two different people with different opinions. I was an art student, and I've also done several courses in graphic design etc. We just have different opinions on what is visually appealing. That is all.

anyway should probably change the subject to avoid getting too off topic.

Then you should know very well, that there are certain aesthetic rules in art and design. You can't brush it of with: tastes are different. XD If it were that way, why did I study for five years (graphic design, illustration, character design and some fashion design)?

I don't deny, that this costume might be liked by some or even many people. There's nothing in this world, which is either just hated or loved by everyone. But from a designer point of view this costume is still a mess and I too felt the right to express that thought.

I'm just going by how I think they outfits would look on the DOA characters, since I don't know much about DW characters. though i admit, I'm sticking with LuBu/Leon because both are the "Strongest Warriors" just brutal beasts of men lol.

Sigh. Ok and the people who came up with the costume were just randoms off the street. Guess they hire just anybody to design costumes in Japan for a highly respected franchise in the east. this is a pointless discussion. I don't agree with you. Let's just leave it at that.

Judging by these really great pictures, that you guys posted, why did they provide Ayane, Kasumi and Momiji with these super ugly (especially Kasumi) costumes, when there are so much great other costumes? >__<'

This one is is so whacky:

What?! XD Even her iconic blue and white ninja garb and the new black ninja suit? Why do you people have to be so overy dramatic, lol.

That's also overly dramatic. >__>° I guess, even designers sometimes have a bad day...?

And with what exactly don't you agree in my last post? That design follows certain rules, which is a fact, or that I agreed, that despite that some people may still like the design? What's so disagreeable there?

To be fair, I hate the black leather Hayabusa mimic outfit. Doesn't suit her at all.

But with that outfit, the main issue is the bloomers. It just clashes with the rest of it the VERY asian outfit.

All art is subjective. Design is no different. Why do you think there's insane costumes on the runway? Or lack there of? There is no right or wrong. That is art. It's all about creativity.

Don't take 1-2 people's way of teaching as the correct and only way. I learnt that in year 10 art ( eh, not sure what that is in American terms. We have completely different education systems. ) when it comes to school and design you have a set rule so they can grade you based on the way they teach. But in the end design and art are subjective. Fashion designers prove that on a yearly basis.

If you want to continue this discussion that's fine, but I don't want to flood the thread with irrelevant posts so msg my profile or something.

I give up..XD This is probably not the best place to try to objectively reason about (costume) design after all. There are other forums I visit for this.

the sexual tension between you two is real @Tyaren @FatalxInnocence

i digress, all these dynasty warrior outfits and everyone kinda forgot that the only character that'll probably look best in them is pai i think. for the DW outfits to work, there would probably need to be a DW type stage or else they'll all look out of place like kasumi, ayanes and momoji's. idk, DoAs overall tone does make much room for them but as a pack they're a wonderful idea tho. a stage to match would be nice.

i'd like to hope that with the asian pack will come with aerial gardens or something close. truthfully, id like to wish that each pack came with a stage buttttt that'll never happen.
