Competitive balance: DOA5U mechanics changes

What do you guys think of the 5U vids Mr.Wah put up? -props to him for finding them :D- I'm just glad to know 66H+K for Pai is back. And some of Kasumi's new stuns look really nice. ^^ + SS is fixed. (Thank god).

I'm getting tired of carefully attacking opponents in a stun who know that I'm going to attack and are mashing the counter button like there's no tomorrow.
Dude! go and (carefuly) throw them! :) chars used to have a nice throws repertory ;) so you can turn tiredness into fun! :cool:

I think it would be nice if you could throw an opponent in a guard disadvantage. They could work it out so that if the opponent pressed an attack button they would be able to evade the throw (but couldn't obviously hit you). Now I guess they really wouldn't get any reward for it unless it gets them out of the stagger and now puts you in a stagger allowing them to set up a possible combo. Thoughts? Some times I've though throws could connect in stunned opponents as long they got less damage and don't take any counter status if opponent holds from stun. It would be an alternative combo ending in adition to juggles or direct knock downs. Iniatially I've though about 40% of damage just all juggles take.

However I think stunned opponent would be in too much disavantage this way. I also see an epidemic of low holds in order to avoid throws when stunned. Even worse, if there would be a form of throw countering from stun, stunned opp defense will turn harder because they would have to choose between 4 holds levels, slow escape and likely 2 levels of throw countering. It could create a significant unbalance... Also both juggles learning and excuction effort do not compare to easyness of most throws...

But who knows... ;) :)

Rig doesn't have a nice throw repertory...
I've noticed the same about Rig. Perhaps he get new throws in DOA5U. At least he has 41236T.

But please help me to encourage David Gregg to avoid unneeded frustration when playing DOA5. I have fun throwing stunned hold happy players and it helps me to win very much. Or perhaps he already knows it and I missundertood his post...

I still have to ask -and I'm serious, not trying to mess with you or anthing- but where did you see Pai's 66H+K bound?

I re-looked at the video, and made a mistake D:. I thought it bounced again like it did in 1.02. (Still wishes that were back...) D: Don't know if it'll automatically bounce off of a wall still or if it's only during a certain threshold still.

Best case scenario is some gameplay, a few matches or a trailer (or a changelog). I wouldn't hold my breath though. Probably just more costumes/swimsuits/pervert mode videos with more girls or more modes no one actually cares about until the game's release.

I highly doubt we are going to see a changelog. Game is most likely in the final testing stages and sending out a changelog would just cause a slew of problems. Sadly TN is going to do what they want to do and they don't really give two shits about listening to the community outside of fanservice.

They are either going to strike gold like 3.1 did or we are going to get a turd that had potential but they didn't want to take that extra step like DoA5 vanilla.

I'd just like to see everybody's COMPLETE move list back because a lot of moves got removed in DOA5V (Vanilla) due to time constraints and people crying "nerf" everywhere.

List of Things I've Seen So Far
About FT, I realized that FT now only works on strong low attacks E.G Tina's 6H+K, and not all low attacks or attacks that have effects on downed characters. It's not gone, but it's been... Changed.

All Bounce animations from VF5:FS are in, but made longer for more guaranteed combos.

Sidestep has been... Slightly buffed via watching the offline videos. This time, it escapes 2-3 attacks.

Stun Threshold is 3 hits before CB. This is very good and they have listened to the community for this one, because I felt that the CB set-ups were too long. You can also reach max launch quicker as well, equaling the combos to be less predictable.

In Tag Battle, Hi-Counter Throw damage has been raised to about +25-30%pts.

That's it so far. I'll look into it when I get the game and or see more GP this time around.

I was thinking the same thing. With roughly a month to go we, (the western player base) still know barely anything about the game. There's no time for us to see the game before release and offer our input so they can makes any changes that we would like to see.

What's worse is that not only does TN not care about our feedback but they are making every effort not to tell us what they are doing with the game and making sure no information from those who are testing the game makes it out of Japan.

I really don't know what the fuck they are thinking with this bullshit. Ignoring such a large portion of your player base is not only disrespectful but it will also damage the quality of the final product.
