Crossing my fingers for a DOA spiritual successor one day, I guess.

How dare you say that. The true death of a franchise is when a spiritual successor is appointed. Look no further than my poor Banjo-Kazooie. What did it get for being the best of the best? Yooka FUCKING LAYLEE.

Don't you ever cross your fingers for that. You have lost your way.

Lol, what? I don't believe a spiritual successor kills a franchise. Banjo was dead long before Yooka Laylee, and it was created by ex-Banjo devs. And MS/Rare could totally bring back Banjo right now if they wanted to, even if it's unlikely it'd be anywhere near as good as Banjo 1 and 2. Ex-SNK devs are making a spiritual successor to Metal Slug called Black Finger Jet meanwhile SNK keeps putting out Metal Slugs, even if they're all spinoffs and browser games. A series dies when there's no one left to make it. Who's left at KT that's passionate enough about DOA as a fighting game to fight for it to get made? I'm honestly worried.

But my last two posts were emotionally driven, I'll admit that. I still don't think DOA is dead but my hopes are at a low point, I have to admit. If people outside of KT can make a better DOA-like game than anything KT has put out in the past decade I'm honestly all for it, even if Tina won't be a part of it... I love DOA's characters but I also love the gameplay and I really want more of that and to see it taken into the future.

A spiritual successor would mean imminent doom for our fighter. I don't want any other characters. If it's not a DOA character get it the fuck out of my face. If there is no Kasumi or Ayane or Tina or Bass, it was all for nothing.

You're in a dark place. I understand your issues. The clock is ticking, but we will still be here, and we will fight for DOA I assure you that. There's no leaving now; you're stuck with us forever.

All I'm going to say about the current back-and-forth with the two users above is that the prospect of the cut girls being added into DOAXVV down the line is the ONLY reason I'm tolerating the gacha aspect for DOAXVV. I would prefer it if they never had the gacha in the first place, but it's there, so might as well play by their rules to ensure they get in. Well, that, and maybe an ACTUAL new DOA game.

Besides, at least it's better than stuff like the scavenger hunt Kojima forced in regarding certain DLC items for Peace Walker (the DLC itself might have been free, but you had to pay various products like specially marked 7up cans just to get the code to get them. Pay to play in an even WORSE manner if you think about it), and all so he'd make commentary on "product placement."

The audacity..

Bunch of interviews with Sakuda:
The last one, Nanami, is actually the girl who became a turning point for DOAXVV. The "girlfriend feel" that we were conscious of when planning Nanami was well received by users, and it later influenced the creation of original girls for DOAXVV. And it's no exaggeration to say that that reaction led to the idea of creating this romance adventure game, so we couldn't leave out Nanami this time.

We are of course being careful to make sure that the girls' designs do not deviate too much from the image of "DOAXVV".
We are also making adjustments while looking at the current reactions on social media and other places.

Please, don't stop complaining for the sake of the common good.

Negativity aside the game looks promising, the swimsuits look new and Tamaki seems to imply you can wear shoes with the bikinis now of your own choice, I hope so since I prefer heel sandals with the bikinis over flat feet xD

Mini-games may appear in the episodes, but they are not meant to be a game to compete with, but rather to allow you to flirt with the girls.

There is no beach volleyball, and the main focus of the game is on the episodes with the girls. There is no so-called home screen, and no element of training the girls for beach volleyball.
There is one main storyline, in which you develop romance with the girls who appear. As the story unfolds, you make choices about how to act as the owner.
Depending on the choices you make, the girls' favorability ratings and the development of the story will change, making this a simple adventure.

As with any romance adventure game, you can see the endings with each girl as you progress through the game.
We don't plan to include a clear bad ending. We're still adjusting it, so we can't promise how bad the ending will be, but at least it won't be something where you don't end up with anyone.

We will release PRISM in multiple languages for regions where the international version of "DOAXVV" is available. As announced, the international version of "DOAXVV" has exceeded 5 million downloads and is very popular. We wanted people who enjoy it overseas to also play "VVP" , so we prepared an overseas version.
However, we have not included any elements aimed at making it a hit overseas, and we will deliver "VVP" in its original form as we imagine it.

We would like to continue operating "DOAXVV" for a long time, so we ask current owners to continue and those who have not yet played it to give it a try. The release of "VVP" is still some time away, but we are working on it so that it will be a work that everyone will love. If "VVP" becomes a work that everyone loves, it may lead to the birth of a new series, just as "VVP" was born from "DOAXVV".
We will continue to provide updates, so please look forward to it.

Yeah I was a bit confused by that part... am I crazy or is he saying that they're prepared a release for the west? It sounds pretty clear that he's calling the Asia version of XVV with English the "international version" which he says is being played by fans overseas, but then he says he wants those people to also play VVP so they've "prepared an overseas version", which doesn't sound like he's talking about the Asia version of VVP otherwise he'd have called that "international" too. But I mean if they really were planning on publishing the game in the west, they'd be more clear about it by now and it'd be in the news and not just casually mention it in an interview like that, right?

I think he's basically just confirming that an international version or western release is gonna happen, they know at this point that VV has been played by us in the west and that no matter how hard they try to have made Venus Vacation trickier to attain on western steam, there's still US players who play it, and they're now willing to also include us since they know they will make money from our player base too, they can't deny that there's people like me here in the US who have invested time, money, and devotion into playing the game

I also think that this is a possible hint that maybe rather than just keeping the game Japanese in terms of voicing, they may try and even include an English dub for the game which I'd LOVE immensely since I'd love there to be an English cast.

Kira Buckland would definitely reprise her role as Honoka, and I could see Elise being voiced by a Laura Bailey/Michelle Ruff, Tamaki being voiced by Grey Delisle, and who knows the other possibilities? I don't mind the Japanese voices but I'd definitely appreciate if they went the extra mile like in X2, Dimensions, DOA5, and DOA6 where they had an English cast

I wouldn't want to dampen any spirits, but I feel I have to point out the last bit he said in that quote..

"However, we have not included any elements aimed at making it a hit overseas, and we will deliver "VVP" in its original form as we imagine it."

So even if there they do publish the game overseas sooner or later, I don't think English voice overs is something being considered, but who knows if things will change in the future.

Eh, I don't think "elements aimed at making it a hit overseas" is addressing that specifically. With the type of game this is and the romance adventure setting, I don't think there would be anything they could do to make it a hit anyway, it's gonna be a niche game likely and I don't think English voice acting could enhance it like that either.

I think they mean more making adjustments and toning down the content to make it more possible to be big in the west but even that wouldn't do much, it's gonna be bigger in Japan than here no matter what they do.

If anything I think they mean that they're not toning the game down to appease the masses here to make it more popular since that'd be pointless. Least they can do is add English but I'm not bothered if they don't do it, I'm sure there'll be mods for that on steam.

I don't think so, I remember back in 2013 when I was 15, when Marie Rose first came to arcade in DOA5U, there was alot of requests for her in the west, and I remember Hayashi or some rep from the game said that didn't forget about their fans "overseas", which includes us since she came to the console game with English localization and dub and all.

I'm sure they know US players and people outside of Asia In the west play the game, and now they figure they might as well cash out on us. DOAX3 probably would have gotten alot more support if they didn't make it a hurdle to purchase game for US players anyway

On November 17th, seems like there will be a livestream or showcase.
"Gameplay" would be nice to see.

The nmiagaming interview is giving Me a bad feeling about Prism's directions:

Yasunori also touched on the “Romance simulation” aspect for DOA Xtreme Venus Vacation PRISM, saying to expect less in-your-face fanservice as you instead build relationships with the cast of girls.

“Unlike the more direct sexual encounters in Xtreme Venus Vacation, which had a bolder approach, this game will focus more on subtlety and provide a feeling closer to true romance simulation”

These comments alone is very concerning, and is taking the game in the wrong direction. Building relationship to the girls isn't the bad idea, but having less-in-your-face fanservice or not following direct sexual encounters in VV is just taking away reasons I enjoy DOAX & DOA Mainline Series to being with. All this game may wind up turning into barebones game that may not be worth giving a try and would rather stick with DOAXVV.

Yasunori explained that DOA Xtreme Venus Vacation PRISM’s story is strongly interwoven between its roster of six girls, and that adding a new character would mess with the flow too much.
“The story of PRISM primarily revolves around the interactions among this set group of established characters. If we were to add new or previously popular characters later on, it might disrupt the original story structure and potentially shift the focus to the new characters, which is not in line with our creative intent for this project”, he explains. “Therefore, we currently do not plan to add characters through updates or DLC”.

Honestly, whatever story their going to tell isn't a good excuse to not have the other Venus Vacation girls or other DOA girls as DLC Characters (like Marie, Kasumi, or Ayane for some examples). Considering the Owner was first introduced in DOAX3 as mode where you try to make your girl 100% happy which you get an ending which they would have their love for the Owner (like Marie for example), and DOAXVV Character Episodes, Birthday Cutscenes, & True Colors (which even featured Marie) where they have their dates and express their love with Owner. I don't think Prism's story is going to be more special than what DOAXVV had been doing through out its 7 Year Lifespan.

I'm actually a bit disappointed (I'm sorry) but the reason why I like the Xtreme games aside from the characters is the volleyball aspect/sports vibe that they are showcasing for players so hearing that they announced an updated doaxvv game made me happy. I don't want that to disappear for consoles (Ps/Xbox) I really love the formula before and was hoping for an upgrade with an rpg feel to it (open world island concept with doaxvv girls managing shops/Monica's casino/volleyball matches/Tamaki's fashion store/Sayuri's clinic/ Shandy's bar/ A dance studio and exercise class etc.) but I will still support KoeiTecmo because I really love the characters. I just wish that they would create something fresh (still optimistic though) so I wish them the best for the future of this franchise and hopefully we get to see the old and new characters thrive into something new that hopefully we all will love and enjoy.

Same tbh, unless they'll give us some more game and mini games since I loved the capture the flag game, butt battle, tug of war, and I also like pool hopping and even the casino too since I love blackjack xD hopefully they'll add some side games to replace those, maybe having some that tie more into romance like maybe dating mini games and stuff like that since I like constant engagement when not wanting to really focus on the story but more on extra stuff
