so it is a new game, on console too. AND still using the dead or alive name. But what actually is it? a dating sim? is misaki the only character in it?

the gag of it looking like it has even less actual gameplay than vv

At first glance, those Misaki pictures were unsettling and I thought they used AI.
It appears that the engine got upgraded for this new game.
Misaki model now looks way too realistic but the previous anime style is still there. This association gave me uncanny valley vibes straight away.

New Game Dead or Alive Xtreme: Venus Vacation Prism

Early 2025 - PS5, PS4, DMM & Steam - Prism runs on a new Engine which will focus more on "Adventures" and "Dates" than DOAXVV. The landscapes also look much better with more adjustable 3D viewpoints which will add to the photography appeal. Only 6-8 Venus will be available at launch. The Dead or Alive name was NOT taken out of the title as projected.

I don't think that I can fault KT completely for this presentation, because interestingly enough we are getting a new engine which could be used with a new fighting experience. Whenever Team NINJA makes a new engine, it is used to the maximum. They'll squeeze every last dollar out of it until nothing is left to be squeezed.

Misaki's image is a little strange at first, but she looks pretty good overall. Especially after some shaping before release of the full game. I actually paid more attention to the backgrounds and vistas which look much, MUCH better than DOAXVV. The beach and ocean water looked drop dead gorgeous.

Considering the game comes out early 2025 i doubt theres time for a poll tbh, i imagine the girls are picked and being modelled/have been modelled already. 6-8 really isnt many but its certainly better then just misaki.

Would it have killed them to just make doax4 though, with jetskis, and waterslides, and something resembling gameplay. They say this is “adventure” but i don’t really see how its gonna be much of that when it just looks like a dating sim

There have been many requests over the years related to DOAX interaction. The first big one that I can ever remember was that people wanted the ability to gamble with the girls and not their portraits. DOAXVV answered this request. The other big wish was that you could actually explore Zack Island for the first time. This is the closest that we've gotten in over 20 years to that reality.

For a long time, we've controlled DOAX through only menu selections. So, when you factor that in you really could call it an adventure.

My guess is that we will get one new character exclusive to this game. Also I was hoping to be one of the girls instead and then hanging out with the others but yeah... Anyway I hope they still add volleyball as a feature

I'm doubtful they're going to make an exclusive character for DOAXVVP, not unless they shut down DOAXVV in the near future, and we haven't gotten any hint at them having plans to shut down DOAXVV yet.

So far as Prism, as long as they don't rehash the same mistake they made with Xtreme 3 by overpricing their DLC and thus singlehandedly killing any chance at more girls getting in (the PlayStation magazine hinted in the interview that they would add more girls and activities to Xtreme 3 down the line), I'll go along with 6-8 available at launch (even though I personally prefer they just release all of them).

The graphics almost remind me of the Resident Evil Engine, though, so not sure what to make of that.

I won't be surprised if they do add jetskis into Prism, though: Sakuta DID indicate that part of the reason he did that Dolphin Wave collab was to test the waters to see if a jetski minigame could be added to the game.

IF this is like an actual proper xtreme game i’ll be happy/interested. And by that i mean jetskis, volleyball. Activities and gameplay. But it just…really isnt seeming like that from what they showed which yes granted was hardly anything but it gave the vibe like that was the beginning and end of “mechanics “ gameplay wise. We stand and we chat to them.

Basically they need to show off more gameplay stat to give an actual idea what you DO in this game

There was more movement involved than standing and offered a more immersive scope. The beginning of the end of mechanics happened seven years ago when DOAXVV came out and allowed the volleyball to be an idle activity. We have a better chance of getting gameplay here than we ever did with DOAXVV IMO.

You could be right. There may not be gameplay as we once saw it, but I think most people would agree it will be more than standing and chatting.

Yeah, I find it a little strange too. I think because I got used to her look in VV and X3.

This is an 'immersive' one because it has 3D graphics, full voice, animations... but fundamentally will be 'you' facing the girl and dialogue, as Sakuda said in the TGS stream. Just a more sophisticated version of character episodes in XVV. So don't expect any gameplay outside of that, probably.

The new graphics engine got a little hyped right now. It doesn't look bad and I wonder how the "3D" exploration mode will be. Might consider to import a physical copy.
Let's hope this updated engine gets implemented in the next DOA fighting title.

And preferably that they don't deflate the girls like last time. Word to the wise, KT, considering the flack Marvel, Disney, WB, and DC are going through, toning down the one thing that separates DOA from most other fighting games is a VERY bad idea.
