Doesn't he have something like that tho? He has 1P which gives him advantage on hit and alot of his attacks like K give him advantage on block too. He's slow but I always saw him as a character who has to Wait his turn to get pressure since once it's in his favor his options are scary but he's a slow grappler so you have to work harder for it, but I always saw that as a way to balance him since his throws and OHs do horrific damage if you guess wrong against him
1P is literal gimmicks believe it or not, even Bladez and Gehaktbal can tell you. It's just gimmicks because people keep defending against Bass when they shouldn't at times. Tick throws are Bass's major weakness for example because it's guaranteed damage due to Bass being too afraid to commence an attack in fear of losing trades. An example:
P > into a i12 mid attack. P from like an i9 character is only at -2 or -3 (If Bass attacks here, he'd still lose the trade from speed or move recovery where he couldn't attack in time, if he continues blocking, it's because it's fear of the follow ups or waiting the person to finish it resulting in guessing too much in free cancelled attacks.)
vs.
P > into a i12 throw. (Bass is afraid to attack now so he defends, resulting in taking big neutral damage from a throw he can't break).
Bass can get stuck into both resulting him to massively guess in situations he shouldn't truly need to, but because DOA is set up to heavy Yomi and massive high risk high reward, it results in this sort of dice toss (which is not good game design). If you fuzzy, you are increasing the risk to get hit on NH crouching or stand up too fast to get hit with an i12 throw. To get Bass to bully someone he has to be at advantage at all times, but to initiate that advantage, he has to start off in a gimmick way because he has no choice due to game speed differences.
A good positive note on Bass is that it's similar to Raidou, once someone is in stun, that's when Bass or even Raidou becomes incredibly scary, but getting those stuns is the hard part since the main cast common can initiate stuns easier and deal similar damage to hardly any effort. Obviously Bass is playable, I mean Gehaktbal won with the character against Siologica at a tournament, but it's also the case that Siologica messed up too much to allow that to happen, but because he messed up too much that's his fault so Gehaktbal earned it. In a tip scale of even matches, Nico would wound Bass in every situation movekit and speed-wise. Thus making Gehaktbal's win all the more glorious and deserving so I was pretty damn happy that he won with Bass on top of being a really good player, but it still doesn't solve Bass's initial problem where he can be common for everyone to play. It's a real problem, not a real balance type thing.
