Alpha hair textures are a mystery in this game. Some hairstyles have and others don't.

For example, most Tina hairstyles don't have alpha textures but her default deluxe costume hairstyle (the one with unique cowgirl hat) does ... why? I guess these are just bugs they don't even care fixing.

The characters just seem to have a difference in quality from model to model. Like the whole navel drama, where in one costume they’d have them miss placed and in other they’d have both. Also, in some costumes they’re darker and more visible than in others lol. I wonder if all these quality differences comes from different people working in different models for each costume?

There are different models, mainly for story mode cutscenes, intros/outros and for gameplay but alpha textures are also applied for ingame models. As I said, Tina deluxe costume with her default hairstyle has the exact same hair model and hair polygon count than her default hairstyle with other costumes, she just have a unique hat ... and alpha textures applied. It's more about they don't paying attention (and don't giving a shit about the quality) than having different heads with more or less detail in each costume.

It's like all UV texture mapping issues or they messing up fire particle effects framerate in stages background in last patch. These are things that they could fix if they wanted because are already fixed in some cases (Tina's hairstyles), were fine in previous builds (fire rendering) or can be fixed by artists (UV texture mapping).

It's usually the case that several artists work on character models/costumes, yes. The "navel drama" is inexplicable to me though. I honestly don't understand how you can first forget them entirely, then once I contacted them and complained, they added navels, but to the wrong spot and of the wrong size and shape, once I complained again they added proper navels to the right spot, but kept the old ones, so now there are two.
Were they expecting me to complain again and explain to them in another infographic that humans normally just have one navel?

The intro and outro models are the exact same as the gameplay models. I was going to say the story cutscene models are too, but I actually noticed something weird about Hayate's story cutscene model. One of my biggest pet peeves in regard to character models are low polygon shoulders. You know, when they are visible blocky, when they should be round. It's such an odd spot to skimp on polygons, because it is so obvious, but developers do it all the time... Anyway, Hayate's cutscene model has really blocky, low polygon shoulders, well visible when he talks to Helena on her boat near the beginning of the story. His gameplay model doesn't exactly have high polygon shoulders either, but they are not nearly as blocky as in the cutscene. Weird, I'd expect the opposite to be the case.

Lol I forgot to reply you, sorry.

I can't prove this because I don't have the tools to look inside the game in my PC but I think female characters have different physics for their intros and win poses.

I noticed some different behaviour with Leifang for example. In her win pose her chest react to her arms hitting her chest but that doesn't happen ingame, at least when I tested it.

Frostbite is a terrible engine for fighting games. And I doubt Team Ninja is large or skilled enough to pull a similar effect on their own. They can't even get belly buttons right.
Yes, but Unreal is not good for FGs too. Still, the devs oftenly choose to heavily mod the Unreal Engine rather than create their own.

DOA6's main graphical problems don't seem to stem from their use of a proprietary engine though, but from the fact that it was not even developed by actual Team Ninja, but a second rate studio outside Japan. Messed up anatomy, unsightly seams all over the characters' bodies, messed up alpha maps on hair, empty backgrounds and the blandest visual stage design since DOA1 isn't primarily a problem of the engine. It only shows that ability and care of the developers is lacking.

at this rate, everyone’s going to be bald in DOA7. ill be satisfied if they bother to give kokoro and kasumi more than 4 strands of hair this time around.

Her proportions are a little strange but I love Pixel art in general! I'm sad fighting games have gotten away from Sprite work in exchange for 3d modeling.

It's obvious they didn't give a sh*t about DOA 6. Nioh 2 looks how it should look unlike DOA 6.

Don't want to be overly dramatic, but this could be the beginning of the end of the DOA franchise. The game had a hard time as it is, without all this kerfuffle.
Now... I can't help but feel that the franchise is close to dying, similarly to what happened to Ninja Gaiden. We don't know if Ninja Gaiden 4 will be announced this year, but Nioh is quite an obvious branch-off to give the franchise a break. DOA needs the same thing at this point. Competition in the fighting game space is only increasing, and DOA isn't doing any better. No one is playing it right now. Everyone is playing Mortal Kombat, Tekken, Smash, SF, KoF, or even For Honor.

I love the DoA franchise but honestly fuck DoA6 for now until we get a substantial update. We still can't purchase individual costumes and honestly as much I hate to admit it the game wasn't finished at launch.

Just look at all the poses that are still being added to the game that should tell you enough. The part that pisses me off as of late is Shimbori stating we will add momiji if DoA6 sells well. Really what kind of shit is that?

How are you just going to put it on the sale of the game when all you've continued to do since launch is make bad decisions after you rushed the game really? Well I guess I'll be waiting and hoping the next version of DoA 6 is much better then what we currently have now.

I know I'm not investing shit in this game until we can purchase costumes that we actually want and get costumes that we actually want. Until things are noticeably improved I'll be playing other games like SamSho.

I can sit here complaining about DoA6 all day but honestly I think the best thing to do for us is to move on until the game is in a state where the game is worth investing time/money into. Game is pretty much dead at this point unless you play competitively.

They honestly wasted money on the DoA tournament and didn't learn from the same damn mistakes CAPCOM made with the SFV launch. It's like TN and tecmo/koei decided hey let's literally try to emulate the SFV launch.

Thing is I'm pretty sure CAPCOM had more money invested in improving SFV over time. At this point I dont see any significant changes happening to DoA6 until possibly the next version is released.

TN and tecmo koei are both to blame here in my opinion. You can't just blame the publisher for all these issues yet I see people doing just that. This has been a poor effort from both sides and until significant improvements are made I'm done bothering with the game.

I've tried to remain positive but at this point why bother. Same with the constant complaining why bother anymore since its obvious TN and tecmo/koei don't care about this game. If they don't care at the moment then why should I?

Fuck the world championships that's the only positive thing they keep bringing up on social media. How about some positive shit about how you plan on improving the game instead.

They keep peddling the DoA world championships like thats the one thing fans keep asking for. That money should've honestly been invested into the actual game and what would be more appreciated is knowing are complaints are being worked on.

Sad part is they probably got 3 guys at most working on the game post launch. Can't wait for SamSho because at this point I'm fed up with them only highlighting the DoA championships and photo mode.

At this point even if they release DLC for vanilla DoA6 who's left to buy it and with the current state of the game good luck with trying to convince any new players buy the game so what's the point of the world championship?

I don't see many new players wanting to play this game period much less competitively in its current state. Well that's pretty much it for me you won't find me constantly complaining about DoA6 I got better things to do than that.

Especially since it's obvious the dev's and publisher don't currently give a shit about the game. So if they don't give a shit why should I? I cannot wait for SamSho to launch I have a feeling that game will be much more solid from the get go.

That's what happens when you continue to ignore complaints and don't at least address them. I do believe there will be an updated version of DoA6 eventually because they've already invested money into the game albeit stupidly.

Now if that version of the game bombs then yeah I could see them taking a break from the franchise. however they've already invested in the DoA6 world championships so I already see a new version of the game happening.

Hopefully that version is the game we expected from the start. Let's be real though do some people really at this point that your complaints will be addressed? Yeah we can complain were blue in the face but I've seen so far has me believing any significant improvements are going to be made any time soon.

I think to myself what a joke as of late when I check out masters or DOA central Twitter page. It's either about the DoA6 championships or picture mode. Wait theres the occasional who wants to jump online and play this dead game.

So disappointing here's hoping the next version of the game is solid.

Mood. It's so annoying to see one of their tweets on my TL and realize is not anything new but, YET AGAIN, another tweet asking people to share their photos. Like girl, is this a fighting game or a photography game? I love photo modes in videogames, but when the only thing your PR account tweets about is to share the pictures you've done in the game via a hashtag on Twitter, you know something's fishy. The photo mode ain't even that good (especially compared to photo modes that came out in this generation such as Uncharted 4's), and considering A LOT of people's complains are about how horrid the game looks for a 2019 release (skin showing through the costumes at the minimum stretch the characters do, noticeable seams, issues with the textures' alphas...), I don't know why they're so annoying with highlighting this feature.
