Kokoro with that white facepaint would be insane, although I'm still not a huge fan of the in-game kimono. I can never focus on fights if she's in these unwieldy, over-sized pajamas with her sleeves flying everywhere. The new default isn't perfect but I prefer it a lot more since it's more form-fitting and less marshmallowy.

Edit:
Looking at DOA5's DLC, Kokoro's Summer Festival Yukata does the Japanese style costume right.

Sleeves aren't too ridiculously big. The colors and patterns are much nicer, and the outfit cuts off at her upper thigh which is both functionally and aesthetically more pleasing.

I dig it. In general I like outfits a lot more when the fighters look like they're comfortable moving around in them. If something's too elaborate or cumbersome (or if it looks like their bits are going to fall out when they move), I don't think it's a good design for a fighting character's costume.

i also feel this way about anything with long, almost or already ground-touching articles. there needs to be a fighting game with tripping mechanics so people wearing these get exactly what they ask for

That would be awesome. I also just want to see Hayabusa and Hayate to get some agility penalty for doing flips and rolling around with full sized swords on their backs.

I feel the opposite, I like long dresses in fighting games and I wish they would do them more often. I love the concept of Kokoro's regular kimono, but the way they executed it is bleh so I never use it! The only reason they look like oversized pajamas with huge sleeves is because the physics engine apparently can't handle making her kimono flow like silk anymore so it's like they changed the material to something thicker. Compare this:

to how the kimono looks in that recent Taipei Game Show footage. To me, her sleeves blend in with everything perfectly in DOA4. I feel like I bring up the dress physics too much but man, what could have been... and yes I know why you can't normally use the kimono in DOA4, but we're in 2019 now, not 2005 so they should have figured out a way to make it at least somewhat decent without straining the game.

Man, for it's time DOA4 was a beautiful looking game

I definitely agree the DOA4 version looks much nicer, but I can see why the devs didn't make it like that in DOA5 or DOA6. Real, thick fabric (kimonos, towels, etc.) doesn't flow like silk or very thin fabric. Since the newer games have at least a somewhat realistic style, it would look really weird if Kokoro's kimono was flapping around everywhere like it was made of silk or gossamer. Would be neat if they could make it work though.

Please don't remind me of how cool stages before DOA5 were and how uninspired, generic and bland they are now. The Genetic Biolab his how you do an evil research facility right. Unique, memorable design, insane detail with all the pods, cable salad and floor tiles. It feels claustrophobic, dark and exudes evil.

Now we get this...

and this...

The only thing I would change about Zero is removing the barrier so the the entire lab becomes the fighting stage. That way it's somewhat different from the circular stage in 5. Besides that I like the design of Zero and A.P.O. They both still have the evil science aura and I like how clean they are. Not too many elements but enough to set the tone.

Ill be honest. I really like that song at Zero. If the whole stage was open, itll be perfect

From a visual/graphical standpoint I do agree, but at least in DOA5's defense the stages were excellent in terms of layout/gameplay. The Home and the Oil Rig were pretty damn ugly, but they played very well, with lots of interesting nuances. DOA6 primarily seems to be large, open, flat surfaces.

Like i say all the Time =) The Animation of the Clothes and Hair in do4 are the best animation in doa for sure . I do not understand why its not possible to transfer this to the newer Games :/

By now I am convinced it's simply lacking artistic abilities. I've made a post a while ago talking about this. There are more talented, more skilful artists out there than others. My theory is those left with Itagaki after DOA4, and now with DOA6 I suspect what skill and talent they still had works on the more lucrative and prestigious projects like Nioh 2 (the first part was a critical and sales success, they'll want to emulate this) and the new Marvel Ultimate Alliance ( a collab with Nintendo and Marvel is a big score for Team Ninja, they'll put in a lot of effort).

DOA seems to have turned into the undesirable stepchild of Team Ninja. I wonder if that is also why not Hayashi is directing it anymore.

Aoi is neither a maiko nor is she wearing a kimono, she's wearing a martial arts hakama.
Kokoro fighting Akira is a reference to his fighting style and Aoi being Akira's childhood friend. That I'm sure of. If Akira and Aoi had a kid, that kid would be Kokoro. VF ain't so good at keeping people up with the lore. I don't play Aoi, so, I didn't bother with hers. It's not the outfit per se, more about the theme that I'm getting at. It isn't unique in the sense of the execution. It's like Hockey and Soccer. (Rugby and Football better example perhaps) Looks different, plays different, same execution in concept.

New Gameplay .Looks great =) The Hair ,too :p I dont know ;P

Disagree. Did you not see how Hitomi's hair behaves during her win pose in the last video? The hair strands are flopping down over her shoulder as if they were wet rags. Looks bad. Especially compared to how smoothely the hair fell over her shoulders in older builds.

maybe cause she got into that small river stream

its not affected by being wet, the animations are different than the old builds. on the sort of plus side, they have given leifangs bangs a tiny bit of movement...but its barely noticeable.

The physics aren't that advanced that they change with wetness level, lol, also wet hair would stick to her shoulder and not flop down like that. They simply downgraded the physics as with so much else.
