There's still going to be DOA5 tournaments. That's not going to change. Just now, the interest of playing it will be gradually harder since that there's no developing support of sponsorship.

It's up to the community to keep the interest alive, meaning us competitive players as a whole who still wants to play or keep the scene active.

dunno, watching the announcement again, I still get the underlying sentiment of a farewell. of course the DOA franchise isn't dead. If you look at the gaming industry right now, no (successfull) IP is ever truly dead.
And I would be very surprised I they don't milk the franchise with more spin-offs/dating sims or whatever.
But based on the announcement I don't see a DOA fighting game coming up for a long time.

Is kinda hard to keep alive a scene that doesn't exist like in my case, but i doubt there will be any significant DOA major next year, i really do hope i'm wrong, and you guys in the U.S.A. keep the game alive.

I can say i tried hard to make something happen here for the last year, and it didn't work.

Big E's tournaments, Final Round, KiT, & Absolute Battle have always been main circuits for DOA5. Nothing will change if people still play. Personally, I haven't been playing as much (not training full time), but each time an event comes up that I go to, I enter to support it because even though I don't train on it hard, I still have that confidence in myself from when I was training heavily & I want the franchise to do well.

I'll keep doing the same thing just like if someone here asked me to help them understand it, I still do even though I've been labbing other games that I like.

I guess the best i can do is to keep trying to find Brazilian people online and spend some time on the lab or beating the A.I. Nothing will change for me.

I do hope TN announces something next year.

To be honest, that one tweet everyone was referring to (even many game news sites) wasn't at all what got me hyped for a possible DOA6 announcement. I was already wondering why so many saw it and thought it was that big of a deal.
I was hyped and pretty sure of a looming DOA6 reveal, because of the much longer ongoing talk of there being something at NEC, already a year ago. Also the fact that DOA5 is an old game by now and that they finally stopped with the DLC madness. I'd also still argue that sitting out this generation and leaving the spoils alone to Bandai Namco's Tekken and Soul Calibur, especially after Virtua Fighter is dead too, is a huge oversight and a big mistake business-wise. But what do I know, I may have studied marketing, but I'm no fighting game developer or video game marketing specialist. Koei Tecmo probably knows what they are doing. I hope so...
Team Ninja actually didn't really do anything misleading here. I wonder if they noticed all the hype for DOA6 in the last several days and were like: "WTF is going on? Why are they so sure of DOA6? Do they know more than we do? This probably won't go so well...D:"
Poor guys, they were probably really nervous of the fans' reactions after the tournament. Maybe not the higher ups of Team Ninja and KT but the little guys who keep everything running and directly engange with the fans.

I just watched the"announcement" video and didnt really expect any big news before so I am honestly not too disappointed at all this. The way I see it, they were saying thanks to everyone for supporting the game and were announcing moving on to other things could be their way of saying they are putting doa5 aside to get to work on 6.

I personally have been disappointed by a LOT of things doa related for the last few years (i actually joined this site partly to express my disappointment and hope for better things), particularly doax3 and the series 20th so i didn't really expect anything major for their announcement.

If the message was a goodbye DOA5 because we are working on DOA6, the develoeprs in the video wouldn't have gotten so emotional lol.

I think it's a goodbye forever or a long time.

This litteraly ruined my high and my night >.>

On one side I get what they're saying but on the another side though I feel like it's not true. :p You know since the doa series isn't dead and is just on hiatus. ( I think ) And that it's understandable for support to have finally ended for doa5. ( Probably looking way to into a silly joke image though. :p )

I'm at the valley tavern bar with Tom now, we are almost leaving though but just for heads up that the DOA series isn't over. DOA5 series is over so some may have jumped the gun a bit.

They want to look forward to the future is a vague message, could be anything TN related for Fighting Games in general. Same as NG. NiOh was successful separate from NG so who knows...there is also possibility of a whole new fighting game.

DOA is not over. It's probably going to be in a similar phase to VF and they haven't had a game in over 10 years.

Okay well that's definitely good to hear, I definitely in the immediate aftermath got caught up like others in jumping to the idea that they meant that the actual DOA series was over and got worried lol, But the idea that they are going to continue and hopefully not too long release another doa game is good. And even If it's just maybe on a break for a while while they work on other stuff like maybe another fighting IP is much better.

Edit: Hopefully we don't have to wait that long though.
