Well, yeah. I should also mention that some people don't really like "African-American" because most people under the title are pretty far removed from Africa at this point, as well as the fact that not all Africans are black, technically. It's complicated.

We should talk about new characters again.

I used the word "Negro" purely to the meaning of 'dark-skinned ancestry', as it is also a common word used around here (my country) to address this race, instead of calling them by their skin color which is considerably rude.

So, unless you're speaking in Spanish, or referring to older books or organizations or spirituals and stuff, it's a word best left alone. Black is typically all good. Attaching "African" onto to the front of something is okay, e.g. African-American. Try to stay away from "colored", too. Sounds harmless, but...there's history there, too.

Yeah, i never really got why "African-American" isn't considered racist by Americans, though. It feels like people who think this is ok are just blinded by nationalism. A black guy or girl living in the United States in 2015 probably has as much to do with Africa as white guys and girls do with Europe. These people aren't immigrants, they are pure home grown Americans. Labeling them African because of their skin tone and ancestors, now that's racism to me. "You sir, are African. We don't care if you and your family having been living for 4 generations in the USA, you are brown of skin, therefore, you are African before you can call yourself American" How is this not 10 times more racist than just saying black?
...and besides, if a black guy in the US is "African American" how do you refer to someone from Europe? "African European"? And someone from Africa as "African African"?

Lol this discussion. Really enlightening about the reality of what is considered PC or not. It's also kind of hypocritical if you look at it from another perspective, but I'm gonna stop here since this isn't a thread for that.

Anyway TGS may hint a bit more about the character that is more then a few vague remarks, but then again we still have months left so it could be too early.

At least it shouldn't be another mimic fighter. We already got two. If it's Marie Rose tier in terms of refreshing gameplay for the series then I don't care if it's male, female, or robot.

Well, you'd say things like "African-British" and such. So, yeah. Terms like European American, Asian American, Caucasian American, Italian American, German American, Indian American, Native American, etc. are still in use as well, even for those who are a couple of generations down the line. So, it's not like those of direct African descent are being singled out or anything. If they were being singled out, that would be kind of racist. But, that's not really a factor. And like I said, "African" may not mean "black" (e.g. Charlize Theron) so some people would just prefer black.

lol African African

I'd like a horse in DOA. I hope Team Ninja will surprise me with that "unexpected" choice for a fighter.
I imagine all the skins: unicorn, white horse, pegasus, dark horse, etc.

He would jump and charge ennemies, and kick them with his hoofs. Horse fighting is amazing.

And then, his master would appear in a future DOA game (a native indian with a crazy hairstyle), and they would have crazy tag throws! Rodeo fighting!

Remember guys, DOA is about the meeting of western culture (cowboys) and japanese culture (ninjas). It's a crazy universe!

A yanki/sukeban girl would be cool too.

For those who don't know what a yanki is, it's the female equivalent to a bancho. And both are delinquents and/or gang members. A sukeban being the leader of a girl gang. Examples

Seeing how Phase 4 is nothing like the yanki/sukeban concepts (as I am sure she was always planned to be who she is now), I think the concepts under NyoTengu's are of the new character.

Plus since if they use Genra's moveset fpr the new character, it could look right since Japanese gangs usually fight with those bamboo swords plus the rough fighting style could work for the character too. And TN have never went towards the "bad girl" direction so it's possible.
YAAAS to all of this I want that bad ass eyepatch concept please

Kind of sad that people are asking for tired old archetypes and not thinking outside the box. Though I did chuckle at the posts that said a new character should be a cow and a horse.

DOA5 doesn't have the most creative art direction so it would be foolish to expect something outside of the box of anime tropes. I'm curious what your conventional out of the box idea is?

I don't know how a cow or horse could fit in DOA to be honest. A bear or Panda would be interesting, but I'm afraid Kuma and Panda (from Tekken) already got that covered lol

They will cover Last Round at TGS so we should definitely get a tease of the new character then.

They'll likely reveal the Falcom costume pack trailer there and at the end show a snippet of the new character and their stage. Either that or they'll show pics of them and the stage on screen.

Same, the eyepatch concept is my fav among them :)

Considering the new character won't be out until Spring, I'm not so sure they'll reveal much, if anything at this point beyond the vaguest of teases.

The previous characters were only revealed about a month or two out, if I remember right. Honoka may have been teased earlier, but certainly not 6+ months out.
