Well they did say this new character was towards a direction TN hasn't gone yet, makes me wonder how they'd turn out.

Did they specify whether this different direction relates to character type or fight style?
I saw a post that hoped for Tifa on Facebook last week. Bring her in, I say. I don't think it's out of the question for the future of Dead or Alive, but I'm not sure I would expect something like that for Last Round.
Genra has not been recycled yet and is the most popular character choice in this poll... combine that with the fact that a girl is highly requested and you have a situation that should cater to the tough guys that want their tough boy style with a female character that will capture some popularity. I know in Last Round they will not bring Genra back... but with the help of some bouncing breasts we could be on our way to slinging projectiles and being way too slow to compete with the other characters!
I hope for that actually. Or Bankotsubo. Well actually that is not even possible.

My country is where a part of pencak silat was originally coming from so I'd be proud if it was in DOA.
Yet I'm sure those white knights from my country will be trashing it in typical fashion like "ow-em-gee our martial arts iz in perverted fightin game dis iz unacceptable"

No more Waif Fu please. I hope the new girl is brutal like Nicole and Mila. Or better yet, Vice and Bullet.
I can see it going to an Ayane clone to circumvent the complaints about kasumi clones.

Hmm speaking of, maybe this character will be Final Fantasy inspired?
With Dissidia Final Fantasy being in development by Team Ninja, I can see this new character being a brand new original character with a Final Fantasy inspired design. He/She would pretty much be like Nicole who is an original character inspired by Halo, not to mention Honoka being inspired by Love Live's Honoka.
Plus with the new character likely having Genra's fighting style, it probrably wouldn't to far fetched of an idea.
This is how Final Fantasy characters look like (and these are some of the ones from the new Dissidia game)
