Just thought I would bump this old topic with a link to my Soul Calibur Arcade video featuring Arthur. This character was only in the world version of the board (SOC4/SOC14) and was a pallet swap of Mitsurugi. Until finally finding this board I had only seen videos of this running poorly in mame which just doesn't emulate the game at the proper speed. Enjoy:

Yeah, me too! XD But, I think, it's a good sign, that SC6 takes a little time. Better than rushing the game like SC5, which was for several reasons imho the worst of the complete series. They really need to rethink, were they are going...
Or they pull something similar to a Cyborg Raidou on us... O:

Yeah!! The new generation gets so much hate for dumb reasons. I want all the new people to come back.
Me and my little sister miss the Alexandra sisters. I play as Sophitia and she mains Cassandra, and every weekend after DOA, we play SC4 just to play em again. I find that game better than SC5 imo.
@CFW I think the hate comes from the fact that they replaced the veterans. I myself don't mind the change, but lots of people I know on Gamefaqs constantly complain about them.
SCV's a pretty darn solid game. Wouldn't go as far to call SCIV better, but it definitely has the better overall roster. And majority of the complaints against SCV's cast is about characters omitted and that majority of the new characters are poorly introduced and fleshed out along with being a little on the lame side (Naruto anyone...?)

Don't get me wrong, SC5 is a great game and is vastly superior, but I play it less than SC4 because Amy and Sophitia were omitted(And because Stephanie Sheh's custom character voice wasn't included)...The only characters I really play in it are Pyrrha and Pat, but it kinda feels empty without my stronger mains. Plus as you have stated, the new characters have very little fleshed out backgrounds, which make them slightly underwhelming. I like them, but I know nothing of their full story, and the half done story mode unfortunately didn't give me answers. The game has great potential, but the time constraints and omitted fan favorites really screwed fans over.
Not yet. I wouldn't keep your hopes too high of an announcement at TGS, knowing Hoshino's love for Lost Swords
