DOA5 and Sexualization: Too Much?

Has Team Ninja gone too far with DOA5 in regards to sexualization?

I'd buy DOAX3 if it were a quality spin-off minigame collection... if it featured double the attractions/sports, it included male characters, more interactions, more secrets, more Blanc Manger, Bass winning the butt battle trophies, Gen Fu flying off the slide and XTREME BEACHVOLLEY STRIKES* then I'd spend hours and hours on it.

*: an Xtreme Beachvolley Strike is something akin to those special attacks in Super Mario Strikers Charged. That'd be really Xtreme.

That said, I'm impressed to see how the Japanese DOA fans are in our same situation, but I guess the ones who dislike the exaggerated h-game-like sexualization are a vocal minority over there too.
But... are people who want things to less get exploity really that much of a minority?

So I've been getting the opinions of Tekken players on DOA since at this point Tekken is our current "sister" 3D fighter. Many of them are curious about Last Round especially given the current gen and PC ports. Ironically, the biggest complaint I hear about the game isn't the sexualization but the amount of paid DLC.

to be fair look at GGxrd even recolor cost $0.99 and tales of xilia costume cost $2.99

Well, they have to look at it this way. What is DLC in DOA5(U) doesn't really change the overall gameplay experience (minus the new characters). You don't NEED to buy Private Paradise and you certainly don't NEED to buy every costume to enjoy the game. Tekken Tag Tournament 2 had their "new" characters patched in and the only DLC for Tag 2 is music and videos from the old games. And because Tag 2 also has a robust customization mode, Namco has no reason to release costume DLC, since you can make your own within the game.

Well, in GGXrd, $0.99 nets you 6 re-colors. Meanwhile, there have been times when TN will charge $1.99 for 1 re-color. That's comparatively kind of bad.

I don't know anything about Tales of Xilia, but that sounds overpriced too.

ToX and ToX 2 charging $2.99 for costumes is worse than TN charging $1.99 to put a jacket on Ayane :///////

I don't really care about sexualization in games, but goddamn am I tired of fucking bikinis. I'd like to see them put actual effort into these costumes, instead of going for something so cheap. Also, the costumes need a price gouge. They should cost half of what they do for how little seemingly goes into them.

Huh. Well that happened.

Truthfully, I'm pretty okay with sexiness/sexualization if A: it isn't so heavily weighted to one gender and B: it's not to the point where it crowds out all other aspects of the product (both are issues that DOA perhaps has).

I think that A is kind of important because I don't think that generally the straight male demographic understands how the other side feels when that type of thing is shoved in their face constantly. Telling them to "get over it or GTFO" is always there, understanding can be brought through sharing the pain. Heh heh.
