I know it's disingenuous, it still points out the fact that if there's so many doujins, porn and hentai of these characters, people must find something appealing about the character.

Not to mention, just because games like Street Fighter and Tekken doesn't bank on it's fanservice, doesn't mean they don't have any(which again, only falls to the fact people don't like it because it dares use it as an advertising factor.

And again, just because the developers divulge into it, does not mean the game suddenly suffers for it. This is the thing people fail to mention: The Asuka x Lili shenanigans have never affected gameplay, neither does Julia becoming Jaycee, Blazblue being anime fanservice or Elphelt and Ino in general for Gulity Gear. Sexual Pandering can be a pain, but despite how much I forward it, Soul Calibur is not a bad game and is damn good, so is Blazblue and DOA DESPITE those shenanigans, if they blind people into not playing them simply because of that and not any real concrete gameplay reasons, why should it matter?

I'd rather live in a world of idealism(black and white) then be stuck in cynicism till I commit suicide(color)

Considering they are doing their damnest to make DOA a competitive experience(through their own gain or not), I'm not really sure that's enough to make a statement on it's own past again, those insecure to the fanservice.

Despite what you say, all fighting games do indulge in fanservice(trust me, all the games I stated? I played), DOA being the one that advertises it should not be shamed simply because of it, I'd rather a 1000 times say that countering is not something that will destroy all offense than state 10 times to ignore the damn fanservice and play the freaking game and judge on it's own merits of gameplay.

...I just wanted to clarify my point, you guys can go back to talking about customization and such.

You do know there is like Doujins, hentai, and fanfics of literally everything correct? This isnt really a good example to try to demonize the ladies of DOA. almost every anime if not every anime ever existed has hentai or a doujin of it. ;/ So that's not fair to even use that as an example.

Do you guys think Last Round will add new characters? The game won't come out until 2015 so I am sure they won't just add a couple costumes and stages.

hope so, we need a sexy black girl or a Korean girl who looks like a female beautiful kpop star :)
While I would like a Korean in...
I think having a character with African or South American heritage would be good.

Y'all are still on this shit?

Give it a rest.

Can't be modded for it...nah, I'll stop since it's done and I've lost interest from walking somewhere before Werewolf gave his reply, I only just returned it in kind.

Anyways, I guess at this point Nyotengu changing her fan to different hands isn't a glitch but something TN just wanted to do. And she seems to struggle against the faster characters though, but I was fighting AI so who knows...

The issue is y'all are looking at this from your perspective alone. As I've said many times I didn't pick this up cause I didn't even know it was a fighter and others have said they don't like playing it because it's embarrassing, "But you don't have to buy the fetish DLC" no you don't, but it's still there and if you play this there is no way to keep all of it from showing up on your screen. I still fear the day my dad walks in seeing bunny Kasumi with her crotch in my face.

Not to mention searching DOA or any news for it usually is more likley to bring up fetish DLC than a legit fighting game.

My dad wouldn't give a shit(if I was with him), my mom DEFINITELY wouldn't have given a shit, my brothers basically watch me play the game and he's more aggressive if I actually tried to play Xtreme 2 than tease me about DOA(Hell, he's trying to get into it, but he bought DOA5...not Ultimate) and my other brothers don't care and my sister doesn't care either.

And I was around 9-11 when I got into the series, so I guess I'm lucky(hell, even my friends are pretty understanding so yeah...)

No rest for the wicked, dude. But, I'm almost ready to move on.

Not to mention, just because games like Street Fighter and Tekken doesn't bank on it's fanservice, doesn't mean they don't have any(which again, only falls to the fact people don't like it because it dares use it as an advertising factor.
Believe me. I'm no prude. I think that society has a lot of unnecessary hangups on sexuality. But, what I'm not a fan of is when a perhaps otherwise interesting and multi-faceted character/game is reduced to being just about sex. Yeah, sex sells. But sex isn't everything. Some fanservice is fun when it makes sense, or if it's done in an interesting way (like, say, Bayonetta). But, for me (and apparently some other people), there is a point when it becomes overbearing and too much. It'd be the same for me, for instance, if something were only ever advertised with Michael Bay-esque explosions when there actually were other facets that had nothing to do with that. I'd just rather see a little more balanced marketing style/DLC offering/etc. when it comes to DOA.

Remember that "tournament" advertisement a little while back that just had all of the women in towels on it on a pink background? And then there's a little joking Bass disclaimer beneath it that even though we're showing you this picture, this is about a fighting game tournament and not an H-dating game? WTF?! Why would they make an ad like this? Why would they need to? That is not cool. If TN wants people to think that it's a fighting game, then they should show them that. Why would any passer-by have any reason to think it wasn't an H-game ad if they didn't look closer? Come on, now. That's the type of thing that I'm talking about. There is a time, place, and amount for that sort of thing.

And again, just because the developers divulge into it, does not mean the game suddenly suffers for it. Well, Julia becoming Jaycee did affect gameplay. lol

Gameplay is the most important piece of a game, but there are other things to be considered. Likely the reason why no one is playing with stick figures in fighting games.

You know, they are making an effort in that area. That deserves to be recognized. But, then I'd have to bring up that tournament advertisement again. I think there is a lot to be undone in terms of reputation just from going the beach volleyball route alone. As has been said, some people didn't even know DOA was a fighting game. If that's the case, then some backtracking may definitely be needed.

Despite what I say? Where did I say that they didn't? While it's (kind of) possible to ignore fanservice in a game, some games make it harder than others. I'm not going to say NEVER advertise using sex appeal or don't have it, but balance it out a bit better like I said.

I'm not asking for create a character or anything, but I actually like Soul Cal's customization.
dunno.gif
I have seen the abominations that have resulted from Soulcalibur's customization. Do not want.

Color edit is fine.

Not everyone leaves home when they come of age, and hell, not everyone is able to.

I'm 24 and I still live with my mum lol, if I could afford a place of my own though I'd leave in a heartbeat.

I would I need something called a stable income first though.

I'm 22 and I still live with my family too though, but they've never really given too much of a crap about me playing DOA. The only time my mom did was Xtreme Beach and that was because I was still like 11 LOL... but my friend ended up buying it for me and eventually she let me have it soo yay?

Other than that, I've gotten the jokes about playing it for the boobs and such, but I'm just like w/e ur mad cuz I'm beating ur ass at this game #shrug #hairflip.

Hey, guys, we should, like, stop arguing before a "This thread is locked" memo comes up with a laughing Selena gif.
Or a "I told you so..." Selena gif
Or an annoying, walking away Selena gif
You know where I'm going with this.

EDIT: My parents don't care if I play DoA because they know I'm not into t&a.

It won't be locked, me and wolf is having a convo that isn't making people go nuts or talking trash, if anything, it's annoying but that's it.
But as he said, I'm pretty much done too so this won't last much longer anyways:

And I understand that. I'm not a sexual deviant, sex appeal was NOT the reason I became a DOA fan(it helped, but that's like 20-30%) and TN does need to advertise it like a fighting game at times, which they DO, but I understand it's best to do that all that time and leave the fetish DLC(and DLC in general) as thus and not toss it into the spotlight.

Well, Julia becoming Jaycee did affect gameplay. lol
That's semantics...

Nidhogg disagrees...if it had better netcode

I'll just leave this alone...
Yes, do so...

And looking at their Facebook page, any fighting game footage they toss out is mainly ingame tourney footage or the footage you guys provide them. Them advertising their DLC the way they do isn't the smartest idea, but it isn't the only thing they are doing that.

I must have tossed too much spice in that...
I wasn't saying it as a newsflash, I was saying it in the fact that it's still plenty hypocritical since the only true difference is simply pandering levels, which you have a point...which is similar to how SCV(and maybe IV) marketed itself(haha...I remember how the rode Hilde like she was gonna bring them sales...as the first female to actually wear practical gear...in a game where everyone gets customization)

Back in the day, my aunt and sister were the primary source of fun comments on DOA and Soulcalibur.
"Are those implants?"
"Why do her boobs move like that?"
"Why did you pick that costume?"
"They're like jell-o."
"How do they fight like that?"

As a bonus, my sister once watched me play The Bouncer. I was fighting against Dauragon (the final boss) who removes his coat after beating him once and then undoes the top of his overalls revealing the tattoo on his back after the second time. My sister then says "Is he going to bust out the g-string next?" It was pretty funny at the time.

I don't see anything wrong with having hopes that there will be at least one more character. TN has only given us one trailer (6-8 months in advance of the release btw) XD They've been developing this without the public knowing so clearly they're not transparent with what they do and wouldn't be up front about a new character unless they were ready to reveal him/her. So I just can't accept that LR will basically amount to 2 new stages and particle effects. XD

I'm 26 and I chose to live in my car rather than continue living with family.

Ridiculously boring but first time I got a good nights sleep in YEARS.

My sister asked me, "Where's the jump button?".
That was me first time I played a Zelda game lol.

On topic....nobody else would wanna bug team ninja for blue to be Milas second hairstyle?

I don't even really see the problem anymore, honestly, who's the immature one? The one's who can't possibly see past boobs or the ones who can see and appreciate everything about the game?
I've been beyond done with people who can't take things seriously because of shit like this.
Like if you're getting horny off unrealistic breasts and mechanics of a game that are more hilarious rather than actually sensual or sexy, then you need to just seriously reevaluate your shit.
If someone dismisses a game just because of something irrelevant to the actual gameplay, then go home, you're not wanted anyway.

The female body is a work of art. I think TN does a great job expressing that, I actually don't think it's as sexist as people make it out to be. These women are tough and professionally trained fighters (No foxy boxing here) from a lot of different backgrounds and life styles. If it were just making it seem like all women should act the same, then it's sexist
