Anyone who mentions Bloody Roar has my respect. Long all the way.

Good news for the DOA franchise though.

yeah it kind of gives it a chance for it to have some respect in the fighting game community then again there's Bloody roar series lol, that franchise has it the worst.

Someone needs to pick that up because it literally hurts to be a fan of this series and know we'll most likely never get BR5.

First time in 14 years since DOA2 was released on the NAOMI hardware. Good to see DOA back in arcades!
On SEGA hardware to boot.

EDIT: Since it wasn't mentioned here, the game uses the SEGA ALL.Net P-ras MULTI Ver. 2 digital content delivery system (same as GGXrd). This of course points to the game running on SEGA RingEdge 2 hardware (instead of the more common Taito Type X2).

Good stuff thx for the info! :)

It does make sense now why they reverted life settings back to 300. Matches can end very fast and the average arcade player is going to be feel somewhat ripped off.

This is kind of funny though. If it somehow does well in Japanese arcades there will effectively be a civil war of opinions about the game back east. Arcade audiences want very different things out of a fighter.

No I still don't agree with this logic

Arcade machines can set 3 round matches just like we do on console tournaments
And arcade operators want games to finish so the next person puts their credit through

So the value proposition for customers is still there. And the precedent - and market of new players they will seek to attract - is vf5fs which has been at or near top of charts for a long time and did not compromise the life setting which remains lower than doa's normal setting.

Fast games are good games. Players being rewarded for landing a setup or combo with enough damage to be able to be on point to close out the round is good policy
300 life just loosens things up way too much and they shouldn't want arcade matches to lack this competitive tension

Just seemed out of place. However, I do see the benifit of having one over there. Maybe we can all finally be of one mind.

Well, if damage is being retooled across the board (likely still in progress), it may not be that bad or that different compared to 270. Just sayin'. 300 is only bad by way of other factors.

Now, if people wanted 240..., yeah, can't help ya.

I like their gusto, seeing a lot more work from the developers happening for DoA5 than we did for 4. Can't go wrong with more DoA.

Every other arcade machine is also set to 3 rounds. That doesn't make it a good deal for DOA if the rounds end quicker than every other machine.

But they won't. At all. They'll be MUCH longer. Arcade operators won't like that.

VF is the prime example of short rounds.

I'm gonna have to disagree with Rikuto based on experience with alot of the arcade classics. ST you could die in one combo. VSav is still heavily played (for a 15 year old game) in Japan and it's one of the fastest paced games ever made and matches can be over in the blink of an eye. 3rd Strike can get you killed in two combos, 1 if you're up against Makoto. MvC2 had situations where ypu could lose your entire team in 1 combo. And the list goes on and on.
