Fresh off his win at Absolute Battle 6, Sweet Revenge takes the stand tonight on Lopedo's podcast. Most likely to discuss the clutch matches and hype that took place at that great event. You can watch Absolute Battle 6 at Salty Mayhem, now. Expect a lot less controversy this week, and a lot more gameplay and event discussion.

Team NINJA has updated their Battle Royal schedule replacing the GUTS tournament with Defend the North in New York for the $500 pot bonus and points towards grand finals. The West side also adds California's Paradise tournament to the Battle Royal lineup which also adds $500 to the prize pot and points towards grand finals; NEC 16.

NEC is one of the biggest events in our community and is the grand finish to our Battle Royal. This is an event you are not going to want to miss. There is a 3,000 dollar prize pot, plus the winner is guaranteed a sponsored spot at next years finals which might be the best prize the community has ever seen. Today we witnessed some intense matches in the pools, expanding on the emerging talent we have been seeing. We see Mz. Hoodless get into it with Project Bokuho, and she emerges victorious against his Helena. Another emerging female player, Shazz, wows everyone with her patient and powerful Ein. Even though she lost the set, she did win a game against E-Mann and fought intensely for a place in top 8 against many players, but...

This Saturday will be a good day for DOA players as Pools and Top 8 will all be streamed the same day. E-Mann is the current champion of Absolute Battle, beating Master last year in some of the best matches we have seen in the community. What will happen this year now that Last Round is out?

The Steam will be at 2-4 pm Central for Pools, and Top 8 will be at 8-10 pm. So prepare your day accordingly if you want to see it all. This is the next installment of Team NINJA's 2015 Battle Royal, and Team NINJA offers a $500 pot bonus and points towards Grand Finals.

Tonight @12am EST The Aftermath of a Struggle

In this episode, Darryl Vaughn aka Jyakotu uses the mini-podcast as a platform to speak out on his actions post-TFC. The TFC tournament was held up by him, and it created a lot of controversy within the community. Whether you love the guy or not, he is a part of the community and a valuable contributor. Maybe the community should hear him out in the mini-podcast so you may properly respond during tonight's show in the live chat.

Tonight the show is live at 12am EST/ 9pm Pacific and will pertain to the aftermath of the TFC Controversy and Darryl's message to the community. The show will also feature a few players including: Shazzmatazlss (a female Ein player) and possibly Sweet Revenge and some other names.

Tonight Revolution Continues: The TFC Fallout

The first podcast was a huge success because not only did it shed light on the importance of community, but Kwiggle was given the mic and spoke to us about how he feels as a pro player in the circuit. As a growing community it's important to grow in every way possible. This podcast is all about converging everything we have done as a community and highlighting it.

Who knows about community better than Matt Ponton? Not many. Tonight he discusses current news in the community along with the TFC tournament and possibly some announcements... We have watched DOA and FSD grow from just being a fan site to a hardcore community. We are bonding, writing guides, going to tournaments, keeping up with DOA5 for years and now we have a community driven podcast for your enjoyment.

Today there were a lot of intense matches in Top 8, but above all else, Kwiggle vs XcaliburBladeZ in Winners really showed the importance of adapting to your opponent. We begin to see that Kwiggle has studied the Eliot match-up as he proceeds to hold out of Cali's fighting patterns and punishes him accordingly. Of course Cali has more than one surprise up his sleeve and comes back with environmental awareness and mind games... though it's not enough for Cali to win the set against Christie.

A determined Cali bests a crazed Steady in every match which shocked a lot of the viewers due to Steady's incredible performance against Sonic Fox in an earlier set. It's now time for a final, and Cali and Kwiggle get right into it. Hoping for quick reset, Cali turns to Helena for a powerful mix-up and wins the first match. Kwiggle quickly downloads his opponent and Cali turns to Eliot. Kwiggle goes into overdrive and prevents the reset with his main, Christie, despite some great tech and reads...

Pools and Semi-Finals wrapped up last night, and today we have Top 8. If you missed any of the hype matches, check out the past broadcast at Bifuteki. The video starts for us at about 09:15 in. I highly recommend a viewing before Top 8. Incredible talent ranging new-school and old-school!

TFC '15 has concluded.

Even though NEC is going to wrap up the Battle Royal this year, for the past two years the community has seen TFC as one of our most important events. In 2013 Lopedo won the tournament using Rachel, a character that was considered to be broken at the time because of the stomp vortex. But the set also featured some memorable Alpha mirrors between XcaliburBladeZ and the 2013 champion that got some really big hype from the crowd.

In 2014 Kwiggle destroyed pretty much everyone he fought, including Lopedo. His Christie was pretty much unstoppable as he also won the mini-champions tournament that earned him a dinner with Tom Lee.

Now while TFC may not be the same spectacle as it was last year for DOA, we will still have 58+ players. Including: BladeZ, Crazy Steady (who was damned close at winning EVO) and Sonic Fox. Check the roster list, to see who else from the...

Following the announcement of Capcom Cup 2015's schedule sharing an event date with that of Big E Gaming's North East Championships 16, Big E Gaming had to reschedule their event. The huge Street Fighter IV event supported by PlayStation Experience created a major conflict.
The new date for NEC16 will happen on December 11th to the 13th.

This marks the first time the event has not happened on the first full weekend of December. Due to the conflict between the events, Capcom was able to help Eric Small find a new venue for the event. Eric Small released the new location during last weekend's Summer Jam 9 event.

The new location for NEC16 will be at the Radisson Hotel in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania.

For Last Round, Summer Jam 9 has concluded, and XcaliburBladeZ reigns supreme as the SJ Champion! He was able to capture back his championship by defeating Kwiggle's: Rachel, Phase 4 and Christie all with Eliot.

Though young bladez has won with the ambitious blonde at Summer Jam before, he took that character to the extreme for Last Round in clutch sets throughout the entire tournament utilizing the speed, combos and stun game of Eliot. He sent Kwiggle to loser bracket before winner finals, and also defeated MC Static and Master in fantastic matches.

The bar was certainly raised at Summer Jam this year with all kinds of "heavy-hitters" and "death pools." Though the entry was free, we still had 99 players compete. It's good to see that DOA is still holding the interest of crowds as well. The combination of matches, players, interactions from the crowd, the taunting and a classic...

"Defend the North" is a major on the East Coast that is adding DOA5 to its roster of games this year. If you are in the area or plan to travel; make some time for this event. Pre-registration ends October 1st according to the site. What we have wanted is to see DOA naturally join more and more tournaments, and this is a great sign that our game is impressing people.

Last Round is finally scheduled for updates, detailed in the latest patch notes. This update will not only change the balance of the game, but fixes bugs and adds a stage and some more costume DLC. Be sure to stay up to date on these changes and check out the trailer!

The Free Step Dodge Streams feature (finally) has been fixed and restored. If you would like to submit a stream please go here. I'll be performing modifications as I'm able, to restore full service as it was. This was an issue that was caused by the site database corruption that hit a few months ago. Apologies for taking so long to restore this feature as I'm sure many of you were utilizing it fairly often.

Shortly after @Gehaktbal won his qualifier to the Dead or Alive Festival, @Mr.Kwiggle came out the Dead or Alive 5 Last Round champion at Evolution 2015 in Las Vegas, NV. Today in Paris, France @Gehaktbal was able to defeat Ky-Dragon in the grand finals of Stun Academy #3 and providing him a paid trip into the Dead or Alive Festival tournament being held in Tokyo, Japan on August 1, 2015.

The Dead or Alive Festival will be featuring an international set of players including America's MC Kwiggle and XCalibur BladeZ.

Congratulations to Gehaktbal for his win, and all of the players who attended Stun Academy #3 to support their scene, their game, and their players.

Tom Lee and Big E Gaming have just announced that Kristian "MC Kwiggle" McLean and Ryane "XCalibur BladeZ" Jimenez will be representing North America at the Dead or Alive Festival in Tokyo, Japan on August 1st. The pair will be provided airfare and board by Koei Tecmo.


Ryane was known as one of the early competitors to dominate the Dead or Alive 5 and Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate scene with his Helena, Alpha 152, and Eliot. He's also been known to play a variety of characters in addition to those two so he may have some up his sleeve for just such an occasion. It will be interesting to see if Ryane uses his Alpha 152 in Japan, as it's been reported that Japan believes her to be one of the worst characters in the game...

The genius game theorist, whom is aware of his catching good looks... pastes his face onto Christie and says that the skimpy outfits are distracting and that the community leaders were wrong for the soft ban. My question is, if this is a strategy; shouldn't it be banned? Wouldn't that mean the community did the right thing? Because it's not a fair strategy if it was ever considered one to begin with.

I didn't support the soft ban on outfits, but at this point I'm not sure I really care. Do you agree with this game theorist, or do you think his claims are ridiculous?

Team NINJA has released a new statement for Core Fighters on Youtube boasting the 3.5 million downloads and has announced that Rig will be free for Core Fighters until 7/14.

For Core Fighters on XBOX ONE you can get: Tina, Bass, Jann Lee and Hitomi for 4.99 USD. This is a nice deal for anyone interested in checking out two of the best grapplers. Hitomi and Jann Lee are also great starter characters for anyone beginning.

The Dead or Alive Festival voting has been opened up on Big E Gaming's website. It allows one vote per day per person, and the top two voted players will be flown to Tokyo, Japan in order to represent the North American DOA scene in the DOA Festival tournament event.
