True, but I was referring more to rendering methods and programming certain features, rather than support for open platforms like an OS. nVidia looks at their own products only. Very rarely do they do something to move the industry itself forward. See nVidia Hairworks vs TressFX for example. Or Freesync vs G-sync. Things they develop often remain their property and it's not shared for the benefit of everyone, but rather only the ones who use their products. Might be good business for their own company, but bad for progress in the industry. Generally it's either Intel, AMD or other company that come with an open alternative that everyone can use. If it's more successful nVidia will adopt it. If it's equal or worse, nVidia will keep pushing their own thing at the expense of everyone else.

I think it's really important to establish right now that, unless you're non-profit, you have no interest in growth of your industry. Look at lightbulbs.

And which sector will have it's development funds cut first, do you think? The walled-garden, static hardware, low expectation console-driven sector, or the elitist, piracy-ridden, non-standard PC-lead houses? (Indie is not relevant to this discussion, nor is it limited to PC anymore, either.) And when enough shit triple A ports go out, and there's no discernible benefit to dropping almost double the amount of cash on your PC hardware than on a console, how much longer are people going to opt for a PC over a $300 brick?

See my point? The crunch is already here. Ports are already shit. And PC gaming has been contracting internally for ages.

Tell me, do you think Maxis is going to be the last major house to fall this year? I think you'll be shocked by some of the names we'll have carved onto tombstones before the next financial rolls over.

PC can be used for more things. The problem is, this snowballs. As consoles become more and more expensive, peole are less willing to buy them, and the amount of people trying things they're not sure about goes down. Granted, it won't be over night, but it'll hurt. And is it hurting? There are lots of potential customers out there that are not willing to spend money on consoles. This can only crunch the budget into reducing quality, which then causes people to loose interest and crunch even more.

I'm just tired of hearing people talk about how expensive PC gaming is when plenty games can be ran on the average college students laptop.
Not everyone is moving towards DRM. Look at GOG. People that to pirate software weren't going to buy it in most cases anyway. Plenty of single player games are getting released and making money, and even without those, you have multiplayer games that almost no one pirates to begin with. You keep going on about money, but today you're seeing plenty of small projects developed by a couple of guys doing well.

Music is working the same way it's always worked. Musicians make money off of merchandising and concerts while the record label takes the album sales. Creativity in music isn't dead, there's lots of great stuff coming out, and there are still lots of smaller independent guys doing their thing.

Music is dead, but i don't think it was piracy that did it. Turn on your radio and listen. It's all flashy, racey crap. To be honest, i think there's something to be said about belief of an issue.

If companies want it to fail, why bother releasing titles on PC in the first place? PC gaming is trending upwards and keeps development costs down thanks to its tendency to have longer product life cycles (gotta give credit to the modding community for that). But then again, Koei Tecmo has a different model relying on DLC, too bad that's moreso, added expenses on development costs.

Many of the console market shares are steadily moving to mobile gaming, even Nintendo recently jumped to those market shares with the Mario Mobile. I believe we'll see a shift in gaming powers in the near future and hopefully the emerging markets will avoid following shitty business practices that EA, Activision, and Ubisoft are known for.

You notice, the mobile games are often pretty bad, too. Rather than working within hardware restrictions, they just scrap ideas entirely. The idea is, they can make a sacrifice now to look better later.

I really don't get why people say AMD can't compete on the graphics front. Hardware-wise they definitely can. nVidia has a bigger name and better marketing than AMD, and, that's pretty much it. That's why I said they're not REALLY behind, unlike CPUs where they actually are behind in hardware performance.

Sales are indeed sales and nVidia is indeed winning there without question. In that sense AMD is indeed behind. Sadly imo, because I really don't see why people flock to nVidia like that. The GTX 970 fiasco is another example of their shady business practices followed by damage control. And yet people still support them. I've read of people getting a GTX 980 instead, rather than going for an AMD card, even though at resolutions above 1080p (particularly QHD and higher), the R9 290x can beat the GTX 980 in multiple games, despite being significantly cheaper... I really don't get that. It's like no matter what AMD does they'll always be disliked lol.

And this is where the system is failing. Consumers are not worrying about accountablility. This is where the consumer screws themselves.
Going back to the PC version of DOA5LR. I currently only have the X360 version, so, for me, despite the shortcomings it's still an upgrade. So I'll stick with it for now. Is it everything I wanted? No, but it could be a lot worse. I'll keep my pre-order, and I know I won't regret it.

But Tecmo Koei/Team Ninja/ whoever ports the game, if you're reading this, we expect you to update the game for free down the line, to include everything of the XB1/PS4 versions (payed DLC excluded although it would be nice of course). Take the time you need, but DO NOT let us down on this. We all know PCs are more than capable, and we know you are also more than capable. We do NOT want to hear that you won't support PC because of piracy or lack of sales unless you fix these things first. People have the right to receive a good product, so right now, if it fails, it's your own fault. Not piracy, nor lack of interest, nor anything else but you.

And if they fail to meet our demands, then what?

The question is whether we can mod this shit or not to an extent.

If you can't mod this, then this whole game is pointless on PC. (Yes I went there and don't give a damn.)

As it stands now, yes. The whole point of this would utlimately be to play the game without a console purchase.

When did Respawn request players to give TItanfall a pass?

I am a PC Titanfall player and I am satisified for their product, except you know, some quirks here and there.
Hey there. So I guess that is more of an opinion on my part. I just wasn't at all satisfied with Titanfall. The idea of paying for a game that ONLY has an online mode without a story mode or other modes just seems really cheap to me (and no that mode they called a campaign mode was NOT that). In a world where you can buy a COD/batttlefield game with at least a story mode and maybe a bonus coop mode (zombies/horde/coop campaign, etc) for the same price as Titanfall, it just seems like a bad value to me.

I am off topic (sorry about that), But my main point was just the idea of settling for crap games while giving devs/publishers a pass.

Pointless for people with consoles, I'm hoping modding can go beyond texture coloring such as adding those scrapped fan made costumes, moveset swapping, etc.

Some of best music releases i've heard were those from Bandcamp sites, most of them were "free to listen to, pay for download".

And many awesome bands still makes CDs and vinyls.

Well, to put it bluntly, I'll drop DOA and any game by Tecmo Koei. Team Ninja will have to change publisher/owner if they want me to keep supporting their games. In the end it's the publisher that puts limits on the developer, so, I don't exactly want to undermine Team Ninja but if they support nonsense I have no choice but to ignore them along with their publisher.
There are so many games that I love to play. I barely have time to play everything I want. DOA is still on the list. I already boycotted buying any costume DLC. I only bought the characters that I wanted, and that was a long consideration for me before I did it.

Everyone can make mistakes. And mistakes deserve a chance for redemption. I'm not robbing them of that chance. I'm but one person, but, I will still support them this one time with the PC version. It's not the first time Tecmo Koei ported a game to PC, but it is Team Ninja's first game so... Just this time... I'll let my pre-order stand.

I WAS going to make this game my first PC game; seeing as how I wanted to try out mods and what not. But if its going to be delay after delay, and problem after problem with things being taken away.. Well I might as well save my money for MKX and its future DLC.

Sigh, So you know what, I have read through this entire post and I see alot of you talking about disappointment, and being furious and upset, talking about not supporting the game and swearing that you won't buy the game . . . .

But then EVERY one of you will buy the game anyway. TN and TK, just like every other publisher that sells crap to you, will say they are sorry, and apologize all day, but internally they will be saying "We got paid, let's go to VEGAS" (not really). But seriously they will be rewarded for releasing a late crappy game.

What burns me is that we keep letting them do it.

There - the dead horse has been beaten.

Well, I couldn't careless about the soft engine, at least PC has exclusive graphical adjustments (4k resolution & anti-aliasing)
I was highlighting the fact that they'd (intentionally?) missed it off the translated table, not the fact that it wasn't being included in the game. That's gotta be deliberate, surely?

There - the dead horse has been beaten.
Needed saying.

If it makes you feel any better, I'd planned to double dip, and now won't be. But looking at the (not) refund Steam thread, I'll be in the minority on that. Marketing's hooks are way too deep into some people to give the game up.

Do we even have PC specific PR material yet? Screens or videos?

Well I did some reading on the 360 nude mods and it seems TN goes to great lengths to protect their assets. So it might not be as easy to decrypt the game files but hey I know nothing about encryption/decryption lol

heh, you might wanna take a browse through deviantart some time, (with the adult content filter switched off.)

Yeah, TN isn't so hot on protecting their 'assets' :p

Well they did try to sue the person who created the nude mods.

Yea, I saw all them naughty stuff at Deviant Art :p. Got a couple of DOA5 models running in Garrys Mod thanks to some russian uploder who posted all the models as well lol.

Some of it's really quite beautiful - I use the occasional Kokoro or Hitomi piece as a body base for my manga art. Of course, the vast majority of it is just bland porn, but that's human psychology in a sentence, really, isn't it ;)

Anyway i'm pretty sick of that butthurt storm at Steam forums. "You must cancel pre-order, take a screenshot of refund and tweet it to TN" etc. They even demand pull off game from store. C'mon, guys, don't go so crazy with ur "we are THE PC GAMERS AND SHOULDNOT BE TREATED LIKE SCUM!!!1111" hysteria.
