News MCV interviews Hayashi and Shimbori on Last Round and PC

I wonder if the guys from TN or TK will have the balls to keep that
"threat" once DOA either sells really well or is the only fighter left out of Steam. I also find it absolutely hilarious that the guy putting jail-bait in bikinis is asking for morality.

Mods will be made. People better start dealing with it... Any attempt to try to make things harder will only make modders all the more willing to do the leg word required to give them the finger. That's how it pretty much always goes. I'm looking forward to the release, as my PS3 went bust last year and I have no plans whatsoever to get a PS4 (or any other console). Hoping it will be a decent port.
Mods will go through their natural cycle. Nudes > Fixes > Embellishment > Original Content

Keep talking people you're sure manage to convince me that PC gamers are being wrongly profiled.

There is a clear line between porn and fanservice and the creators have explicitly said don't turn DOA into a porn game rather than a fighter with fanservice. TN been trying hard to push it in the right direction this last year and while yes Y'all do own a copy of the game, you do not have the right to twist it into something it is not, Because you are not the ones that will take responsibility when this game's credibility as a fighter gets ruined.

If PC gamers want to argue, ignore the warning, and ruin TNs trust in them then that's their dam fault. for you to stick up for that kind of behavior and not even have the balls to criticize your own community it's partially yours as well.

The real point is that its hilarious that they are asking modders to not do exactly what they've been making money off.

And if they truly believe that THIS is what will ruin DOA's rep, I imagine they've never done a DOA image search lol.

I mean, I kinda get what Team Ninja is saying. They don't want nude mods and stuff to ruin the reputation of DOA as a fighter. They worked hard to make DOA a great fighting game series. But at the same time though, when they sell fetish DLC every other month, I'm pretty sure having people mod characters should be the least of their worries considering a lot of people who don't play DOA already think its a hentai game. I've seen comments where people straight up think DOA was a volleyball game first, and it got turned into a crappy fighter. That's obviously not true, but I have to wonder what Hayashi and Shimbori thought would happen when they sell private beach gravure, tiity mouse pads, and beach posters. I guess all that is not the same as actual nude mods though, so I'm pretty conflicted on what to think....

People have to admit that it is sort of hilarious that Team Ninja felt the need to state any of this at all... The fact that it has apparently backfired immensely is far from surprising. People don't appreciate being told what to do; particularly so when such "suggestions" sounds like the highest order of hypocrisy and come with an added (profoundly empty) threat.

Hentai has been around for a while. Searching for Dead or Alive on YouTube is sure to bring up some Ryona (or whatever it's called). I don't see what kind of reputation TN thinks this game has that modding will so firmly destroy. Dead or Alive is not exactly known for its wholesomeness. And that is on them.

You can actually blame that on Itagaki as the Volleyball games was around and was the last DOA game before DOA5. Not to mention it was those games that really tanked it's rep.

Honestly....a lot of the bikinis ARE straight up nude mods. Covering up JUST the nipple isn't enough to excuse that.

At the end of the day, it's obvious that Team Ninja is very new to how the PC modding trends work underground, much like Nintendo are virgins to providing good online netcode for their consoles, even moreso with promoting their best games on Youtube *shrugs*. If anything, they're just in that phase of uncertainty.

Give 'em time, and I'm sure they'll look back at all this and laugh. For better or for worse, nude mods are inevitable when you're bringing something to the PC. But at the same time, I'm not saying nude mods should be promoted everywhere just because. The best people in the community can do is just keep the promotion of nude mods away from sites that're actively representing their intentions for the game, which is a no-brainer.

When I wear a speedo for swimming that JUST covers my junk area that is enough to separate me from a swimmer to a flasher pervert. Nudity means you're in your birthday suit. TN pushed the boundary, but hasn't crossed this. If anything games like GTA pushed the boundary even more.

And they don't need bitchy PC modders making the issue worse "DONT TELL ME WHAT TO DO TEAM NINJA!!!!" too fucking bad it's their game. all these PC modders are acting like children I've never heard someone complain so much from just being asked to act morally.

There was one comedian who said it best, I forget who it was.

Its not like covering your whole junk with a speedo.

Just covering the nipple up, is like just covering the TIP of your penis.

We still see everything lol.

Well not really.

In practice, once a game is on PC, its effectively public domain.

Overall, it's retardation going on between TN and the a lot of people in steam discussions. Had Hayashi kept his mouth shut rather than tell people what to do, he had the chance to make a lot of uninformed consumers take DOA seriously. LR isn't even out yet and it's already subject to controversy.

If anyone from TN and TK is lurking around these forums here's some advice from Bethesda and keep silent over mods so that it stays in that dark corner of PC gaming. Skyrim has more fucked up shit than your typical birthday suit mod yet Bethesda managed to maintain a positive image

On that note I have to say I would've never even considered playing Skyrim had I not seen some of those fucked up mods, so really it's in a company's best interest to make games mod-friendly.

Of course I think their anti-mod stance has little to do with morals and everything to do with DLC sales being impacted. May be tough to convince someone to spend $15 on a string bikini when anyone can mod it into the game.

Look, first things first: TN didn't ASK anything, they threatened. It was a request up until the point where they felt necessary to state their retaliation policy. The internet is not made of sunshine and rainbows. If they weren't expecting this blow back they should immediately stop developing their next salad and look up what the "Streisand Effect" is.

In your own style: PC Modders don't need bitchy Team Ninja making it worse with their "THEY ARE MY DAUGHTERS DON'T TOUCH THEM DESU", too fucking bad it's not up to them anymore.

The only "solution" to this problem now is for them to pull out of Steam completely. And lose what I can only assume is a considerable sum of money in the process, since the pre-order goals were completely reached since early January. In all honesty, that doesn't sound too good a deal for Team Ninja. If their artistic integrity is that high that's great for them. That's a very oddly shaped "moral line" they have going though.

Modding has always been a thing on PC and no franchise that I know of has ceased to exist because of it. This is pure ignorance on Team Ninja's part. It adds a lot of insult to injury that they have been handling information on the Steam version in the most atrocious way. People have been wanting to know since announcement if what we are getting will be the current-gen version (like we should) or a PS360 port, like it was the case with Dynasty Warriors (for whatever reason). So, like, they throw the game out there, get a fancy pre-order counter working and fill the page full of pre-order bonuses. Because GIVE US YOUR MONEY. No word on specs, resolution, version. Nothing. All people wanted was some information.

Instead, they give us a delay, no additional info, and a preemptive slap on the hand.

They deserve absolutely all the bullshit coming their way.

Plus, lets be honest, with PC gaming not really being a "thing" in Japan, it won't cut into their dlc sales too much, because I imagine its the japanese who buy the fetish packs the most.
