Having and not having modes or data content on the disc would not affect the Peer-to-peer network latency. Additionally, what was said was that the console input lag (offline) is not present in the PC version because the PC version has faster input response system than the consoles.
Also, DOA4's lobby system lagged because the packets were being sent to all players in a up to 16 man lobby system with voice chat and movement packets being sent from any and all players at once to each other. Not because of the assets data size on the disc.
