    Only in DOA can someone ask this question while trying to learn how to play as one. ;)

    Ryu is high risk high reward. Jan Lee is low risk high reward. For example, the Izuna Otoshi is a powerful move but is a 12 frame throw. Dragon Gunner for JL is an OH that sets him up for great options. Jan also has more delayable strings, and Ryu has one of the worst low-trip mid-string mixup potential in the game.

    Jan Lee is a frame advantage junkie who capitalizes on the DOA5 system with little handicap. Ryu relies more on properly anticipating the opponent than on frame traps.

    Happens with some of us older players too Brute (he sez embarrassed). I like to think that I block more then counter, since the window there is generally reduced from the last game & the online isn't as good... & I use the word "good" loosely.
