Who will be cut in DOA6?

idk, i agree with those who think they really won't cut anyone. if anything the characters not included in the vanilla will be DLC down the road because of demand. i mean they could completely overhaul and reboot the series (like mortal kombat) and make it more story driven (or at least the story make sense) and replace half of the unpopular cast with new people orrrrr they could just overhaul the cast because no one cares about the story anyways. but i doubt they do all that. TN is a crowd pleasing company. everything we've come together and roared about has been almost delivered (minus the clipping issues and frame rates and whatever else i missed)

i just don't see anyone really getting cut. each character reaches out to a different demographic in their fan base.

if they do, i just except them to completely reboot the series.

Y'know, I'm kinda surprised I didn't see anyone mention, but there is a pretty good reason they may not bring Gen Fu back: his Japanese actor passed away, and with the story hinting that he's not going to be involved in DoA anymore, they may just take the opportunity to leave him out instead of trying to find a new voice.

Except...

DoA 1 had 10 playable characters
DoA 2 had 12 playable characters
DoA 3 had 17 playable characters
DoA 4 had 21 playable characters counting Spartan
DoA 5 currently has 34 playable characters [soon to be 35] counting the four VF guests.

They added several playable characters not counting the VF since the course of DoA 5 [Mila, Rig, 152, Momiji, Rachel, Marie Rose, Phase Four, Nyotengu, Mecha Raidou, Honoka, and whoever the new one is] and that is not including the obligatory new faces that will debut in DoA 6 to eat up spots which will likely be at least two like DoA 5.

DoA 5 vanilla had a debut roster of 24 playable [that includes three VF guests that didn't take the same amount dev resources compared to a DoA made from scratch so really 21 DoA characters] so assuming DoA 6 has at least that roster size then people being cut in inevitable. As I explained back on page two with this post even if I don't count for four VF, people being cut are inevitable since I don't see them doing a 30+ roster on debut assuming DoA 6 is not pretty much another expansion of DoA 5.

i pray the new character ISNT a VF.

The original Japanese voice actor for Raidou died, but we still got Raidou to come back with a new VA for DoA Dimensions and now DoA 5 LR. While it's true the Japanese VA industry values their voice talent a lot and are very reluctant to find a replacement to fill the void for a character [especially if the fans are used to it], it's not exactly unheard of either since a business has to move on at some point. I agree though TN has been slowly downplaying the role/exposure of Gen Fu and by the end of DoA 5 it looked like he was stepping off stage for good to push for Eliot. Kind of like how Hitomi ended up being the successor of Ein even if they both don't quite play the same.

However even if Gen Fu is irrelevant to the canon now that is not a 100% cut. Like I said, Ein was only relevant to the story in his debut game yet he still came back as a bonus character for the future titles including this one. That said imo he won't make the initial roster simply because DoA 5 LR has a huge amount of characters [it got too big compared to past DoA games and even had to cut Ein from vanilla when objectively he should be the cheapest/quickest to make] even without counting the VF guests/152 that are both more popular and relevant/soon to be relevant to the story. DoA 5 ended at an obvious cliffhanger so they have stuff planned that require the key characters to be present.

I'm not saying they'll cut him just because his actor died. His original actor also died before Dimensions, and he got a new one as well. I was more saying that, since they're already hinting that he's leaving, the fact that he currently doesn't have a voice may push them to say "screw it," and just cut him.

I'm positive the VF characters will be cut from the next installment (if there is one, that is). I honestly hope to god they will be gone, because they really get on my nerves, especially Jacky. Not only because they don't fit in with the DOA cast, I just hate fighting against them. Especially Jacky. Like, holy crap, the guy irritates me in so many ways.

I'm not sure if Rachel and Momiji count as guest characters but, I'm not sure if they'll return in DOA6. I'm really hoping Momiji will be back because I absolutely adore her and, if Momiji is back, then chances are Rachel will return alongside her as well.

I'm also hoping for Gen Fu and Leon. Not because I like them, but because they're veterans, and apart from story mode I don't get why they would cut them. If we take story mode into consideration, then Alpha 152 and Genra in DOAD should not be in the roster.
Speaking of 152, I'm positive she will be absent from the next installment, considering that we now have another Kasumi clone, Phase 4. I really don't get why we need more unnecessary Kasumi clones. Might as well create a Phase 5, shall we? :p

Raidou might return so we can get some more information about Honoka's past, but he could be a story mode exclusive and he could serve as a final boss or something.

Heihachi VA's also died a while back, but since he's the main face of Tekken, he's staying. If Gen Fu dies, there better be another badass humble old man again in DOA just for the sake of variety. =(

Especially Jacky. Like, holy crap, the guy irritates me in so many ways.

Pretty sure the VF characters won't stay, however I do question how business would work since Sega develops the arcade cabinets for them using AM. They need to have some partnership to keep things rolling for DOA's promotional use.

The characters do fit extremely well. It's not even a direct port from VF since they were remade by scratch in DOA style and provided a DOA character model. You have to give props for TN on that one.

No. But since she will be gone, I hope they will be inspired by her incredible moveset/gameplay. We don't have this in DOA.
