I'm glad costumes were easier to unlock in DOA5U, but in comparison, we had to buy more costumes. Either way, the completionist in me did whatever it took to have EVERY costume selectable in the game, no matter how silly or sexist the costume looked. Have a wide costume selection is great for showing off the game to casuals and many of them do end up choosing a sexy outfit, like a swimsuit, when they play.

I wish we could have had the arcade's puzzle piece way of collecting outfits. Granted it would take forever to get all outfits but I think it would have been more fun to have.

DOA2 actually had a fun method, though. Sure the AI could be cheap, but it was never an absurd feat to get the costumes. Just a time-consuming one. And seeing the "story cutscenes" was always kinda amusing and cool as you went through to get the costumes (though some of the chicks still had way too many costumes. As if I wanted to play Kasumi's story 18+ times).

But 5U's story is lame, it's arcade mode is lame, and completing legend survival for one silly swimsuit? I ain't got time for that shit. It's boring as hell, takes forever, and was frustrating depending on how the AI wanted to behave that day and how much inputs it wanted to read and hold. 5U's single-player, unlike the single-player mode(s) of some other games, is shit, and I don't want to play it if it can be avoided.

If they didn't have a compiled story mode, I wouldn't mind re-doing the same routine. What they could probably do to remedy the excessive influx of the girl's costumes in 5U's arcade mode is unlock 5 costumes all at once per level to lessen up duties and get rid of other methods.

the DOA series in a nutshell

:p

For some reason people seem to think nudity is entirely too gratuitous but you can say the word "fuck" 800 times and show enough violence to make even Ted Bundy look at you and go "Boy, what is wrong with you?" -- I think those would be much more gratuitous than any form of nudity.

TL;DR version: 1) please stop acting like this is a bad thing and 2) you forgot the most important part of the female body. :p

I dunno the concept of replayability of fighters somewhat went out the window lately, Since the replayability aspect of it is now online they don't want you to go through all that trouble since it seems like a hassle for 80 percent of players who don't like playing the ai and most of the fanbase in fighters will yell at you for it because the computer teaches you nothing(arguable but just for my point let it slide).

so eh, it's just a bunch of extra work that's not needed imo

It would be great if DOA6 had a DOA5-like story mode with Arcade mode having a classic DOA2-4 style with a couple character interactions and a final boss. Any unlockable characters and some titles would be unlocked through story mode or online and costumes, music and stuff would be unlockable through Arcade Mode.

Getting things online would probably trouble people who had bad connections/no wifi. It's best to kept the offline functions in tact than to be fully replaced by online methods. What they could do is not give an alternate method to the legendaries or have every costume unlocked just in arcade mode.

That's what a lot of anime fighters seem to do these days. They have a traditional console Arcade mode, where you fight around 8-10 people, with some interaction thrown in here and there, with the final boss. Then you have Story mode, which goes more in-depth for the game's story, but the downside is that there's a lot of dialogue and a lot of text to shift through.

YES! everything about the arcade version seems so much funner in comparison to the console version. It's the little things. The puzzle pieces of the costume stills gives a sense of reward when you win. As opposed to just receiving nothing but some points. It's a cool idea that I hope is incorporated in the future. However, there should be multiple ways of doing this... like if you don't have the internet- running arcade should unlock them too... kind of like how it does in the arcade. VSing people obviously being the quicker way, but having an alternate way just in-case.

Lisa's swimsuit isn't unobtainable. If people were able to cheese their way in acquiring Tina and Christie's swimsuits by spamming Leifang's 4P+K exploit, then they are bound to come up with some other exploit for survival if it backfires.
I beat all the Survival modes with Lisa, but it was very difficult and frustrating (I lost to the 100th opponent on two separate occasions!). There was no real exploit for me to abuse.
Fortunately, even on higher difficulties the AI was never as cheap as it was in the Arcade or Time Attack Legendary modes. I just focused on landing Lisas 1p, k or her 7k, p and building as much damage as I could, off those openers.
I suspect not having characters like Gen Fu and Alpha unlocked (and therefore not available as AI opponents) made it a little easier than it otherwise would have been.

Things get pretty nasty around 90-100th fight, I lost to Bass and Kokoro on my first 2 tries. I used Helena. What I did was after defeating one opponent, I "invited" them into the blender with 33P4P the moment they stepped on the stage and went ballistic with juggling. If I'm losing momentum, I push them far away with BKO 4P+K.

The best thing to do is probably not unlock the VFs, Alpha-152 and Gen Fu yet in story mode and just head on survival.

Lol try Kokoro, Sarah or Mila. It felt like their guard couldn't be penetrated.

Kasumi was also batshit crazy for jumping to the other side to evade my wake-up kick.

I must be the only fighter that's happy that modern fighting games now give you access to the full roster from the beginning. I used to hate having to do multiple playthroughs in Arcade/Story mode just to unlock a character or some other feature.

I actually agree with that. One of the faults of the game Girlfight was you were started with only one character and had to beat the game seven additional times to get the other seven characters. What kind of dumbfuckery is this?

but there are circumstances where an unlocked character can feel like a major accomplishment. I personally have already proposed and stand by the idea of an unlockable Tengu, by winning 500 matches in Survival mode as Kokoro (only Kokoro can be selected) and then you unlock him and his attacks all do 1/2 damage.

Competitively speaking, yes having to unlock characters is a huge hassle but as a kid I always remember how an unlockable character from any game automatically made them cooler than any of the default ones. lol.

I like the way DOA 5 did it where tournament mode has every character automatically unlocked but you still had to play the regular game to unlock the characters in other modes.
