I think it's more just the early dlc thing they're going through, from what I've seen in T7 and even in other games like SF6 and early DOA5 and 6, they seem like they're trying to play it safe. Hopefully by their anniversary next year when the game originally dropped they'll start to venture out more with their dlc content

^ the ninja pack in Tekken 8 was some of the most generic slop. It's criminal Bamco is charging for this crap. It all looks like generic assets they downloaded for free.
Post launch T8 has been utterly abysmal. I really wish a new 3D fighter would come out to kick its ass.

How so? Loot boxes imo may have special items we can get from modes online or offline, I think Tekken 7 had that too but I think it was just offline and not an online thing. If they contain older costumes and if they're free I'm fine with that. It'll help them be able to make sure fans can have older costumes they can grind to unlock rather than buy since some stuff I don't think should have cost anything. Lili's T5 default being one of them imo xD

I don't think Loot Boxes should even be in Tekken even if they cost real money, like even 100 dollars for a loot box is outrageous for these players. But if it's just Treasure Battle, then we'll definitely see what they're up to.

I was on the bandwagon for Tekken for perhaps the first time ever, but I just don't like the direction the game is going in. Having a main character as a DLC that you have to wait on as long as they make you wait... I just don't see how that's interesting. If they brought Hayabusa or Kasumi in? Now that would be interesting.
Also - I was not impressed with what I saw from Tekken at EVO. Was it just me? I think Street Fighter has had cooler moments in its tournament cycle.

Only play Ranked Matches whenever there is a Fight Pass going on, and once completed I'm out of the game for awhile until next Pass/New Fighter Added. My highest Rank is Garyu with My main character Reina.
Give it a week, someone on TekkenMods will make a mod that will let you use your customs over them, that or Tekken will eventually allow you to do so since they're really getting good at quality of life stuff like the ability to change the time of day thing they added for the designated stages this patch
