Time to come out of lurking to post this.
So I‘m one of the so-called DOA apologists. I don’t mind paying for content because season passes were like $90 in 5 and costume packs have always been like three designs recolored for all the girls.
But this takes the cake.
Ever since DOA1’s off-kilter hair colors (anyone remember blonde Kasumi from the cover art?), I’ve dreamed of a DOA with more customization. Now we finally get it and the price gouging is so severe I can’t enjoy it.
Your ticket gets you one color for one hairstyle for one character. That’s it. The color isn’t even permanent, in that if you reset the color to the default, if you wanted the former color, you‘d have to pay again.
This should have been a coins-based feature, no real money. If we had to pay, surely there‘s a better pricing model than this. Who is realistically gonna go for this except superfans? Hell, I consider myself a superfan and I doubt I’ll use this feature much. It’s just too pricy.
I had such high hopes and I‘m bitterly disappointed. I’m hoping PS4 users are the guinea pigs and maybe the pricing will be changed in the future. For now, it’s a vicious cycle. KT can’t make more money off this game because of price gauging, so when they roll out a new feature, even a very good one, they charge more.
Ugh, I’m so bummed.
