Of course Viola is difficult too use, but people still like the character. She's probably the only new entry of SCV that also hardcore fans like

Yeah when I was talking about Hilde I meant mostly her personality and story. It doesn't seem to me she made a huge impact -_-

I loved Amy's fighting style in SCIV, I love fast characters ^_^

Believe me, Zasalamel is very popular ;)

Yeah lol Viola was actually one of my favorite characters in SC5, Also her style is her own thing so they could bring her back for that who knows. It depends I guess what the story's going to be like maybe. And yeah @Argentus I was actually going to say out of all the bonus characters Scheherazade seems to be the one people care about least.

I wasn't referring to her "difficulty to use", which honestly isn't anything special if you've played any other fighting game with juggles in it. I'm referring to how dumb and borderline broken her gameplay is. If I wanted to play Tekken, I'd play Tekken. I don't want fighting styles like that in SCVI.

On a different note, what new weapon styles would people like to see? Looking forward to some dual-lance (double sided sword) gameplay.

Amy was also added in SCIV if I'm not mistaken and she would likely get out-prioritized by Raphael. Though she may still get added if the weeabo... er Amy fans rally enough
Why is Amy a weeb thing? Don't weebs usually like Asian (specifically Japanese) shit, not French lolis?

Well yes, Viola is probably the character in SCV with the most juggle potential (which I don't mind in 3d fighters) to compensate her small damage output. But I don't really know how deadly she can be. I didn't encounter that many online at the time and didn't follow the competitive scene

For the weapons, well... I like fast characters, so I guess I wouldn't mind stuff like double katanas or kodachis

SC1/2 Nightmare just exuded cool. I was never a Nightmare main, but he's always been the most impressive/iconic figures in the FG genre, let alone the Soul series. Then they turned him into a candy-corn monstrosity and I have no fucking idea why.

Yeah usually. They like lolis too like Marie Rose. I was messin' with the weeb thing. But Amy is young (14, younger than Talim even), a loli and has a bit of a brooding personality. Don't get me wrong, I like Amy and wouldn't mind if she returned. Preferably over Viola.

I guess Namco just wanted to distinguish between Nightmare and Seigfried more in post-SC2 installments?

Since the game is basically a reboot and it will revisit what happened in SC 1 and 2 story, I expect a roster very similar to first games, plus some new and guest characters.

So I would say:
-Mitsurugi (confirmed)
-Sophitia (confirmed)
-New character teased in the trailer (confirmed)
-Nightmare
-Siegfried
-Taki
-Ivy
-Voldo
-Astaroth
-Cassandra
-Talim
-Kilik
-Xianghua
-Maxi
-Raphael
-Cervantes
-Yun Seong
-Seong Mi-na
-Newcomer
-Guest Character

There aren't too many weapons types or styles I can think of that we haven't already seen in the Soul Calibur series. A few that might be interesting:
  • Spear and shield
  • Bladed fan(s)
  • Hook swords with grapple/opponent repositioning mechanics
  • Trident and net
  • Kusarigama (sickle and chain)
  • 3 section staff

Doesn't help that a straight up elf is really out of place, even with how fantasy ish the rest of soul calibur is. I mean i can get oni (kamikirimusi), and even lizard men (Lizard man...duh), and we have golems and vampires and ghosts and zombies, but i dunno. An actual elf still feels kind out of place. maybe because you can't explain away an elf because "Soul edge".

Would love to see the hook sword style in Soul Calibur VI. I was attached to Kabal in MK because he used those. Same for the Kusarigama. Very unique weapons.(although the later might be a little OP.. imagine the range lol)

Are you familiar with Ivy?

I think he is talking of something more like a sickle kinda thing, then Ivy's chainsword Looking up Kabal's weapons and what they are called reveals that they are called hookswords, and are swords with what appears to have a giant fish hook at the end of them, more then likely for tearing flash.

Yeah. Kusarigama isnt the same as ivys whip sword. Its the style used by Axl Low is guity gear. It's designed to be mostly range based but can be used up close for parries and can quick attacks. Both Ivys sword and Kusarigama are very versatile and have the same idea but very different.
