SCV is way more balanced than this for sure. The majority of the roster is viable, except for like the bottom 3.

I'm mixed. Thing is, every fighter I've played is stupidly imbalanced with its roster, and DOA5 actually (shockingly) does better than a lot do (SCV). They have the foundation of an amazing game, they just make a bunch of stupid decisions that would be really easy to fix, and yet they don't fix them for some reason. It's frustrating.

Then there's shit like Eliot. -_-

Meh. I think Hayate is underrated, but I've already gone over this with Takeda 5 billion times and I have no interest in discussing it again.

At least Hayate plays similar to how he did in the previous ones, albeit nerfed. You're still working with high string mix-ups and similar animation-guessing games with gap-closing manuevers. Ryu can hardly function as a striker anymore (least consistent crushes ever), really relying only on PP4PK and 34KP as decent warm-up safes. But now 4PK is getting nerfed. Woop woop.

I know their logic is "his striking was reduced but his throws are better now!" Uh, no, they're not. He know has half the chance of landing his high/low Izuna holds, the Otoshi does barely any more damage than Hayate's launch-zippy throw (and gets no height bonus damage for environmental falls or floor breaks), he only had one OH, which was terrible (now he has the guillotines which I'm not going to get into again), and his 46T is just... ugh.

I know Hayate players consider Ryu god compared to Hayate so trying to convince them how idiotic Ryu became is futile, but suffice to say I'm ticked. I understand where Hayate players' gripes are coming from as well, but in my personal view, I don't feel he was screwed over any more than Ryu was.

He appears to be similar at least, in that regard I can't argue with you. I will say Vanilla Hayate was utter garbage, I never considered Ryu God compared to him but he certainly was a better character, it didn't take much for a character to be "God" compared to vanilla Hayate. Let's look at the "pros" he had vs Ryu (in 1.00).

- Better Crushes: Awesome, his best crush is -10. Awesome.
- Ceiling game: Ryu's is better.
- Sidestep: True, but it's unsafe, and his other 2 are garbage
- Throws: He's got a better punish throw, but Busa's Izunas and Holds > His Nakiryu
- Tracking: They're about even.
- Safety/Advantage: Both are grossly unsafe but before 1.03 Busa had more going for him there.
- Speed: The only thing he actually had over Busa.

He appeared to be similar and he was in animation but as far as gameplay went it's like they went back to DOA3 Hayate but took away everything that made him good while taking away most of the flash he had in 4 as well as good tools there. Ryu was nerfed from God to mediocre, but not nerfed from God to garbage. Though he might be getting closer to that in Ultimate. All in all I don't think Hayate getting screwed over worse makes Busa's predicament suck any less, but I stand by that viewpoint as someone who TRIED to use Hayate in 1.00.

I'll agree with you for the present though, Ryu is currently getting screwed over even more than he already was. Hayate seems to be improving on the other hand.

Were those the characters you liked or something?
I normally hate Algol, so I dressed him up in a gay, pink stripper get-up with a deer head that made him sort of amusing. Natsu was my favorite (I guess). Super Patroklos I hated. Mitsurugi is boring (as usual).
They just seemed to have the best speed relative to their spacing ability, which is really the cornerstone of SC.

You forgot mix-up strings. With characters as unsafe as Ryu and Hayate, string mix-up becomes rather important.

It's hard to compare them there when they're both so predictable, but Busa was a bit harder to step and one of his strings (previously) actually ended in frame advantage. Hayate on the other hand had faster strings and could 8/2P+KP after a string cancel if he thought you'd press a button. Even that was unsafe though. Hard to really say who has the advantage there.

You guys are complaining about your mains being unsafe, look at (ver.1.03) Zack's disadvantage frames. But yeah, mixing up makes up for it.

Not everything. She doesn't have a reset throw.
Not that it's much of a consequence with Kasumi when she has 33T and 236T, but y'know. It's something...

Off Topic: SC died for me the day I played SCV Ivy, what the fuck happened?!

Bigger knockers cost her 3/4 of her moveset.

OT (except not really), everyone is viable due to how much guessing is involved. Of course, the Eliot player will have to significantly outplay their opponent, but still.

Everyone talking shit about their mains. Yes, it sucks, but be glad that they're even in the damn game.

I have it much worse than all of you.

I feel for you, but one should really manage their expectations if they're going to pick a character that debuted as a nonplayable boss in one game, was NOT in the follow up, and then only appeared as a very hidden, hard to unlock secret character - and so not played in ANY competitive official tournaments.

He's a fun character, but its hard to hold TN's feet to the fire over a DOA4 easter egg
