Official Dead or Alive Xtreme Thread

We haven't really seen any gameplay but Prism must be stripped down version of VV or DOAX3.
In one of those interviews, there's no gifting presents! No volleyball or mini games. So I guess each outfit is exclusive to each character. Honestly no idea why DOA Xtreme is on the title.

Prism was meant for people that don't like gacha. So everything should be on disc if that's true.

My impression from the interview is that this is supposed to be a cozy game that's more focused on dialogue and follows the usual dating simulation style of listening/reading and responding, leading to different endings depending on your choices, the difference is that this is supposed to be fully voiced, animated, and "immersive" (which honestly just makes me think even more of Summer Lesson). Other than that you can get them to pose for photoshoots. There's gonna be very minimal UI, so maybe you have to ask/convince them to change outfits rather than go through menus? I don't know if it's in VV, but We/Owner have hands now, so while there won't be gifting, maybe we can at least use items to progress the story? Tbh, the only question I have now about gameplay is whither players can move around on the island freely or not, I don't feel like I should expect much else based on what's been said/shown... This game's development time is gonna be 1 year in total right? Almost seems more like a small/side experimental project tbh, even though they were allowed to make it from scratch (but if you think about it, most games made from scratch tend to be small, and usually they become the base for future games).

And while I still have hope for a new FG DOA game, I have much less hope about DOAX (or DOAXBV). Will DOAX4 ever happen? I don't think we'll ever see a new game in the future where we can actually play volleyball with the OG DOA cast (none of that RNG crap), let alone see jet skiing or all that other stuff return.

I think they intended to take it out but didn't want the NA backlash.

The game is going to make a lot of money. Last time I checked Amazon it was #14 on PS5. Meaning that it will probably be the biggest import in the history of the PS5.

Wasn't this game exclusive to Asia anyways?

Of course it is, but that doesn’t mean NA players aren’t playing it or voicing their feedback.

They don’t want a screwed up launch, but you can tell the intent to take it out was there.

Not to mention to new players that Prism has English subtitles if you buy the Asian version.

To me, still feels strange to have a Dead or Alive in the title, or subtitle, but no Kasumi or Ayane. The crossover games either have Kasumi or Ayane (Senran Kagura, Azur Lane, KOF All-Stars, etc) so I though they are still the Ryu-Chun-Li of DOA. hahaha

Also a cheongsam costume but no Chinese character, no Leifang.

We'll probably get DLC down the line (remember, they also implied they wouldn't add any of the old girls down the line when DOAXVV was still being prepped for release, yet they then released Leifang and later Tina), so chances are Kasumi and Ayane will probably get DLC sooner or later.

Oh yeah, and here's the livestream for two weeks from now:

"This game is not in the "DEAD OR ALIVE Xtreme" series, but in the form of the "Venus Vacation" series."

Also, the name of the engine being used is called the "Katana engine", and there's also more info about the stop watch feature (you unlock it after completing the game, but apparently you can have it from the start if you buy the deluxe version...?)

Yeah I'm sure atm they're going to be quiet regarding the game plans so they can keep interest in, plus the Sony thing. I remember back in DOA5 they claimed they wouldn't have dlc characters but 5U they had 3, and then they went even further in LR and onward xD

I don't know, they might stick to "no-DLC characters" this time. I mean, is there any precedent for DLC characters getting added to a dating sim or visual novel? Actually I can't even think of many high profile dating sims in recent times... the only big dating series I can think of is Tokimeki Memorial and that's pretty old (but coincidentally, one of its games from 1995 is getting a remastered rerelease next year). A more recent one is maybe Love Plus? Love Live? The closest thing to this was Summer Lesson, of course, which afaikl had added DLC character episodes but I don't think any of the characters stories ever intersected/interacted/overlapped like they're saying will happen in Prism.

The change extends to the mini-games themselves, which now serve the story rather than standing as separate activities. “Compared to the previous installment, these mini-games will place a greater emphasis on close interactions with the girls and building affection. The scope of the game mechanics will differ from the previous title,” Sakuda explains. He specifically notes that beach volleyball, a series staple, won’t be included, underscoring the team’s commitment to refocusing the gameplay experience.

“Players can capture heartwarming moments through photography and change outfits to experience the storyline, which is the biggest difference from the previous game,” Sakuda adds, emphasizing how every element now serves the central narrative and relationship-building aspects.

I'm really thinking the "minigames" he's talking about are stuff like getting fed food by Fiona and holding an umbrella for Elise. It's reminding me of what Summer Lesson does to get the player to get closer and more "intimate" with the girls, like sharing headphones, basically designed to make you to sit close and get your face closer to her.

Later he said that there's less outfits for each girl compared to XVV, but there's pallet swaps? lol. Gotta admit tho, if they have dialogue and reactions connected to each outfit they wear, at least that's neat. But imo, they should have at least really done a lot more to push the "genre" of dating sim forward a lot more than what I've been seeing/reading so far.
