I don't trust you.

To be fair, my biggest gripes were really beyond fixing (level design and the such).

Aside from the turd bosses and level design. NGRE has the best combat system out off all the NG games which I think makes it one of my favs. NG1 being my fav ofc, NGRE 2nd place :p

Razors edge really does fix a ton of what was wrong with 3, it also has a lot of replayability with 3 other characters.

My fav is still Vanilla 2 though.

Yes it does.
NGRE combat is very versatile.

If those can't prove it I can into paragraphs as to how in depth NGRE combat system is compared to the others haha :p

I played the crap out of NGRE.

Edit:

I haven't played in NGRE in years Brute, but if you are up for it we can do some co-op and I can show you! It is really freaking awesome once you learn the mechanics. UN actually becomes fun to play instead of annoying/hard including the trials :p

You are really something else @Fiend Busa.... you're absolutely insane and I like that about you.

Ninja Gaiden Black is a much better game... Ninja Gaiden 2 is also a much better game. The fact that you are still making your co-op requests is adorable, but I know why you said it's the better game now:

I played the crap out of NGRE.

This means you've been brain washed over time.

I'm not really interested in having a back and forth debate on this again because quite frankly I've had it a lot and it's the same shit every time. Just because every weapon has a movelist the size of a Bible doesn't mean its combat mechanics are somehow inherently better than the other games. The Steel on Bone mechanic and instant apeshit modes were stupid, the ninpo system was a joke and AI patterns were more irritating than challenging. Combine that with nauseating aesthetics (don't get me started on that hurt mode camera) boring stages/music/enemy types and you basically have a big bundle of crap that I only tolerated because it seemed decent having just trudged through the even shittier NG3 vanilla.

Even if I wanted to torture myself by leaving Nioh to play NGRE right now, I'm unable, as my PS3 is all packed away. I've been very sad for a very long time with the PS4, as there were no action games on it that I enjoyed. Now there's Nioh.

I'm also one of those NG3RE deffenders

And while i see its flaws, i really can't understand why someone would put NG 2 vanilla over it...

It certainly has better mechanics at its base, but it falls apart when the thing is expanded. Arrow enemies with boderline hitscan projectiles, long encounters with enemies with gigantic health that are no fun to fight against (rasetsu ninjas), commando ninjas destroy the framerate with their bazookas, Incendiary shurikens are 80% of the encounters on Master Ninja, and they are not that hard, but there is a lot of problems on how their projectile works, basically how they can sneak hits on you, or how when one of them whiff and hits the floor or wall, it will explode instantly, and the animation will end, but the explosion hitbox will stay there for a while after the animation vanishes, meaning you get hit by an invisible explosion, or how enemy behavior in general makes the game about chaining i-frames with windruns, guillotine throws, OT's and UT's, and the room to use your weapon's movesetes is not so big. Let's not start talking about shitty bosses, the only good boss in NG2 is Genshin, and maybe Elizebet, i preffer any of the bosses in ng3re over the other ng2 bosses to fight against mechanically in general, But i have to admit, NG2 is a much more inspired game with its designs and soundtrack, it looks really good in general, even being 540p, Oh, let's not begin to talk about water fights.

But to be honest, what really cuts my enjoyment of NG2 is its bad framerate and how unresponsive the game can be because of that a lot of the times.

And while i said that ng2 has better mechanics at its core, i think NG3RE has a way better job expanding on the things you have, even with the nerfing of some stuff, making the gameplay more diverse if you're willing to go ways about it.

what i like is revisiting places in search of item and key in older NG games, sometime enemies spawn in that area..

in NGRE you go all the way like a movie..that what i say about level design.

I think this video can demonstrate that NGRE is more than just having "lots of move-sets"

And this is just the dragon sword alone. If you watch the whole video, you can see how the combat mechanics are just good "deep" enough (Not saying NGRE has an AMAZING combat system) where it requires you to think for split seconds during battles as what to do and what not to.

I been playing NG since I was a kid and have most my hours put into NG black. To say previous gen NG's have a better combat system than NGRE, it is just plain ignorance.

The video provides the exact opposite effect than you intended it to. It's basically just showcasing a giant, fucking movelist/combo video. I realize you can see some game mechanics amidst the combo demonstration but nothing that's more "deep" than the previous games. I may disagree with @Sotherius but at least he defends his position by reviewing and comparing actual gameplay features that differ between each game. You just show random videos and make conceited claims that anyone who disagrees with you is ignorant. I'm fine with people making claims that one game is better than another but at least try to use logic to justify your position. Everyone here has put a great many hours into playing the Ninja Gaiden series. Your personal nostalgia for it alone doesn't give you any special credibility to assert what's "better."

My opinion is not greater than everyone's. I just want to get that straight. Don't want you and anyone on FSD thinking I'm some douchebag lol.

Though in this situation I firmly believe that you saying NGRE is just = a giant movelist is 100% false. I can make a video with commentary going through every aspect of the combat system in all 3 games and then proving why NGRE is better than the previous generation, if, you are willing to watch it.

Edit:

I think @Brute the reason you think it's just me posting random videos is because you don't understand what's going on and why I make the choices I do during battles.

That's my fault

Let me post an example. The last video I posted is not just a combolist.

One move I showed in the video is SS-TT

Now the average person would just do the move.

What makes NGRE combat system so great compared to the previous games is that you have a lot of options depending on how you input the move.

Now the move does not have iframes but you are semi safe after the input. (It has few frames of recovery before you can block)

Someone who spent time playing the game and studying how the combat works has just opened up much more options.

In this situation you are inputting the move and you spot another enemy coming behind you.

Someone who knows the combat would do the following:

Your current enemy delimbs - you delay the last hit and go into an instant OT which gives you iframes.

Someone who doesnt:

1. Shuriken cancel
2. Complete the move (enemy delimbs or doesn't)
3. You get hit

Now the person who knew this technique has 1 less enemy to worry about while the other is most likely dashing around trying to get back and finish the enemy off.

Quick example, probably not the best but I hope it makes sense.

The same type of situation can be encountered in NG2, as well.

I decided to continue where I left off in the vanilla Ninja Gaiden 1 yesterday, and after it ran, on start up I noticed this screen that pops out:
WIN_20170510_15_58_14_Pro.jpg

I dismiss this screen the whole time until yesterday I decided to take a closer look and found out that they are cheat options for to activate while playing the game (Infinite health, infinite water breathing, infinite ninpo, infinite supplies).

I did try out the cheats for a while before deactivating it because it just ruins the challenge and the frustration I had in the game, but I'm curious, does anyone know where do these cheats come from? I tried asking the person who installed the game but he said he forgot because the game was installed like almost a decade ago. Does anyone know the origins of this?
