Ninja Gaiden Thread

A zombie ninja that is killed by Busa and comes back to get revenge? The game will end with Hayabusa killing you again, but I'm on board with the idea. I think it's a missed opportunity to not go for next gen consoles as well as current, though.
Lol that's what I thought. And why is a zombie ninja killing other zombies when Hayabusa is killing the same zombies as well? Seems weird and pretty fun at the same time, but I don't know the developer too well. Spark Unlimited, IIRC. TN is probably doing the gameplay, though.

If the story ends up being a good one, I'll be shocked. Pleasantly so, but let's be real, here: none of us is playing Ninja Gaiden with the story coming before any other element.

Brute, you pretty much nailed how I look at Ryu in general. Sure, the man was killed once. But it was a cheap fucking shot from a dangerous, legendary weapon right after having to run all the way back to his village after fighting his way through to Murai and then fighting through a ton of samurai and mages. Hayabusa was tired as hell. If he'd gotten a nap in, the game would have been a single stage long. Just saying.

Even though he died, he just got his falcon buddy to bring him back to life (never really explained, but the camera zoomed in on the falcon and his eye twinkled; he was a magic falcon spirit and that's what fucking happened), tossed on some new duds, and then hopped on an airship going straight at the enemy capitol. Hayabusa is the single greatest action hero ever created and I will do everything in my power to make sure he keeps on getting games and showing us new and creative ways to be a badass.

Lol I enjoyed your explanation of the falcon. I remember the first time I ever played Ninja Gaiden I thought it was an actual ninja simulator, not just some action game. Running across walls and over water, taking out hordes of enemies and single-handedly saving the world with only a few lines of dialogue made that game feel so damn awesome. The first game really put Hayabusa on a pedestal of epicness. Ever since 2, I disliked how they brought in the CIA and whatnot.

I loved how they made Ayane seem like the Robin to Hayabusa's Batman too lol.

Fuck Rachel. Kasumi FTW

I frowned when I saw this. Rachel should continue to be a staple Ninja Gaiden character for many reasons:

1. Alright, when she was first introduced as a fighter she kinda sucked, was slow and had lame evasive properties; but in Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 her small updates made huge differences and made her extremely playable and fun.

2. First off her Type 666 heavy sub-machine gun was the best projectile offense in the game. I mean it could absolutely shred enemies and was a co-op dismemberment masterpiece.

3. Her upgraded Inferno hammer was devastatingly powerful, and brutal.

4. She actually has some great story angles in Ninja Gaiden. Her sister is a fucking fiend! She's a fiend hunter, but is still cursed with Vigoorian blood.

5. She saves Ryu's life, and while Ryu may certainly never care to tap that, ass; the rest of us wood.

One of my gripes would have to be using any of the females in harder mission difficulties. It's pretty much just safe to use Ryu at that point, and I want to be able to use any character I want for any mission I want if I get good enough.

I haven't played RE (I'll wait until April), but I'm going to assume that Ryu will most definitely be the character to choose for mission mode just because he's the strongest, and better balanced character.

She was much better, definitely. But the game's pacing suffered from her inclusion in the main story. I would have preferred her being relegated to co-op, myself.

2. First off her Type 666 heavy sub-machine gun was the best projectile offense in the game. I mean it could absolutely shred enemies and was a co-op dismemberment masterpiece.

It was TOO powerful. On anything below MN you can play her like a third person shooter. Felt out of place to me.

3. Her upgraded Inferno hammer was devastatingly powerful, and brutal.

Yes. Points to this one...but I'd rather Hayabusa wield it.

4. She actually has some great story angles in Ninja Gaiden. Her sister is a fucking fiend! She's a fiend hunter, but is still cursed with Vigoorian blood.

I agree with this entirely. That said, after NG she stopped being relevant at all. We're supposed to believe she can take on Gogohn/Marbus? Come on...

5. She saves Ryu's life, and while Ryu may certainly never care to tap that, ass; the rest of us wood.

Had she not been there to pull him out of the eruption, we would have seen a badass scene with Hayabusa being vaulted out of the volcano thousands of feet in the air, flipping hundreds of times, and then landing in a cool way only to have the camera zoom in on his face as he looked up to face us. That or, I don't know, he could have just FUCKING TELEPORTED OUT OF IT LIKE HE DID ABOUT FIVE MINUTES LATER. That plot point has always bugged me lol.

And she should not be a staple character in Ninja Gaiden for the following reasons:
1. Her personality sucks
2. Her visual design sucks
3. Her fighting design sucks
4. No one likes playing as her, because she sucks
5. She's not a goddamn ninja

5. She saves Ryu's life, and while Ryu may certainly never care to tap that, ass; the rest of us wood.
I wouldn't.
And psh if you're referring to that end part, Hayabusa jumps like 500 feet in the air in NG2 (to reach the archfiend), and can teleport and can turn into a goddamn bird and fly around. She did not save him.

edit; lol, ninja'd by CyberEvil xD

NG2?

I disagree with you, and you can't seem to properly explain anything.

First off, since this one of your easier preferences to attack: RYU HAYABUSA is not a ninja, he's the farthest thing from a ninja. To say that Ryu Hayabusa is a god damned ninja, is to say Barney is a purple dinosaur.

Her fighting design is addicting, and since I like power-house characters, I enjoyed using her more than Ayane (who has to pray she can shave off a limb to survive) and got far with her. But GOD forbid she's not a ninja (or plays Ninja dress-up) just because the title is Ninja Gaiden.

The rest of your stuff isn't worth responding to. xD

Which is the subtitle of that TV show. He's at least called a ninja in-game, and it builds on that idea. Rachel's not even considered a ninja by the work's own canon. In your analogy it would be as if in "Barney the Purple Dinosaur" they featured Bertha the Human Maid.

No, I'm not talking about Ninja Gaiden 2, but Ninja Gaiden.

Rachel is a Vigoorian, so duh she's not a Ninja nor needs to be considered one in the canon because she kicks more ass than the other females available (that are hardly ninjas even in cannon, but a Shrine Guardian). If you're trying to attack her for not being a ninja, that wouldn't make sense to me; because she is cursed with vigoorian blood and is relevant to the NG universe in my opinion because of this.

Itagaki never wanted Kasumi in NG, because she doesn't fit in with that atmosphere, in which Rachel (a character that isn't a ninja) definitely does. Choking out fiends with her warhammer is awesome. I would say Kasumi is "too innocent" (just quoting the creator) and is better off staying in CGI endings where she dreams about dancing in the water with fish.

OK, we get it. Hayabusa and Rachel are badass in their own way and have their fans. Hell, I like 'em both, and I wish they were all playable in Razor's Edge. But given what's in NG3's story, they're gonna have to dig a little deeper if they want Rachel to stay relevant. As much as I like her personally, I don't want her to be there just to be there... I actually want to give a damn about the character beyond her time of redemption in NG1. NG2 - despite cool weapons and new look - wasn't enough to really evolve her character.

If you've seen anything from NG:DS, you'd know Momiji is just as legitimate of a ninja as Ayane or anyone else.

Itagaki had some weird ideas as well as grand ones. He is also now gone from TN, and the way Kasumi is portrayed in DOA5 shows a more mature character than the innocent/kind-hearted Kasumi found before, making it reasonable to have her in a NG game.

But given what's in NG3's story, they're gonna have to dig a little deeper if they want Rachel to stay relevant.
One of NG3's many problems is that it limited itself in the gameplay department to adhere to it's storyline (which no one likes or cares about). I'm not sure this is the best argument for Rachel's absence, but to each their own.

And just adding something... Rachel does not kick more ass than Ayane. She is Hayabusa's fucking sidekick.

The only legitimate Ninja in TN history is Hayate, and I guess Ayane to an extent. She might be Ryu's side-kick, but she's far better suited for intel and giving Ryu Hayate's things.

Not to say I don't like Ryu, Kasumi or Momiji, they just don't fit the description people think.

Of course she doesn't. For example, Ayane doesn't get captured and need rescuing twice in one game.

Damn this is getting nasty. Lol...
To add to my argument, Ayane followed Hayabusa all over the damn world and laid out weapons where only he could find them. She was like 14 years old. FOURTEEN!

And yet somehow had boobs the size of Jupiter!
Well, in 2, anyway. In 1 she actually had the body proportions of a human being. Itagaki blew my mind with that. Wasn't aware he had it in him.
