whattdya know Leon got a whopping .5 seconds screen time in the new trailer. a new record for TN in the little fucks they give about him as far as including him in any type of promotions.

The least they could've done is show the full dervish throw

and yet the evolved Bayman clone still gets more screen time than the original

Hopefully the animal pack is real, that pack seems interesting.

I do wonder if they'll be outfits like these

don't play with my emotions. i'll draw every DoA character as a rapper or video hoe and call it the hip hop pack. TN would have no choice but to make it. it's genius.
that would be a hilarious parody. I got a shirt back in highschool where its The Incredible Hulk all "thug'd" out, its funny as hell. "HULK and SMASH were his brass knuckles lol.

If that was serious though EEEEEEEEWWWWWWWWWWW NOOOOOOOOOOO. DOA5 is ghetto enough as it is with the "urban" graffiti looking menus and the bad rap.

Plus Rig's new outfit is all white boy ghetto, that should be enough (oddly, Zack's new costume looks more like....MC Hammer as a raver lol, but still managing to look awesome)

Actually, wait. I take that all back. As much as I personally wouldn't like the outfits, I still encourage it because its better than just another copy paste fetish back.

Still, though *pictures Ein with his pants around his knees and hair styled into cornrows with more tacky gold than an old cat lady*.
baby-laughing-hysterically-o.gif

Screw it I take it all back, design it, lol! And give somebody a doctor seuss hat while you're at it lol And put like, spinners on somebody, lol. Bass' shoulders are as big as tires, throw em on there lol. *pictures Helena with a big ole ghetto girl haircut* (4:05) BWAHAHAHA YES!

Oh, stereotypes, thou art hilarious.

Nothing personal, its in my nature to immediately make everything HILARIOUS in my mind lol.

can we replace the power blows with Def Jam finishers?

I can't tell if this game is SUPPOSED to be funny, but those win quotes are hilarious lol. "Hey man, it aint personal, xcept it is personal, cause I personally don't LIKE yo ass!" wtf lol? Combat looks cool though.

I would just get killed in the ghetto because I couldn't help laughing hysterically at everything, lol.

But anyways, to answer the question...I wouldn't mind that. At least those Def Jam attacks have some weight to them. one of my primary complaints about fighters has been the nonsensical lack of gravity and weight.

Not really. At least they gave a close up on Bayman so you could actually see him. If you didn't already know what Leon's costume is, you wouldn't be able to tell what the hell he's wearing in the short clip of him in that trailer.

At any rate, I look forward to seeing all the new costumes in play in two weeks.

I have to say, I am absolutely in love with Akira's costume:

Not only was the design amazing (@DestructionBomb, @Ghosty-J), but TN really went out of their way, to beautifully recreate it for Last Round. Look at that detail and the wooden prayer beads around his neck. *__*
The more I see these screencaps, the more I can't believe this actually happened XD Did these screencaps come from a video stream?

If it's real, I predict the girls will have bikinis with animal ears and tails and the guys will probably look like Jann Lee's except more stupid.
I hope its not just bikinis. Make it sexy if thats your goal, but just hope its not pallet swaps, and needless fan-service. In regards to that, fan -service is a poor choice of phrase here. Most fans are sick of the T&A, so its more fan-diservice!

I wouldn't really say that with how well those fanservice costumes sell compared to the non-fanservice ones (like how all of them sold so well that not one pack made it in free to Last Round as oppose to the non-fanservice costumes in which the Halloween outfits were the only ones that weren't fanservice costumes that didn't get into Last Round for free) . Lets get real y'all, FSD =/= the entire DOA community.

It's pretty possible, but I also think that Akira is not felt as a simple character for the same Team NINJA: after all Viruta Fighter is uber popular in Japan and TN recognized more times how it's the father of DoA.

On a sidenote about outfits' discoveries, I'm pretty glad to have realized with this last trailer that Rachel outfit kept the "Alma" text (but maybe you had already seen it previously). The name was originally written on the sleeves, but I had noticed how in the in-game outfit this part was completely missing. Now I saw how actually they added it as an embroidered text on Rachel's chest.

I don't know what think the author @Candy Dragon about this alteration, but personally I'm really glad of this detail because not only give the idea that the name was an addition made in a second time on purpose for the outfit (that make more sense to see it printed), but even the placement of it for a time could not be tied to the fanservice but rather to a metaphorical meaning (Alma is written on the left of Rachel's chest, so on her heart).

I'm happy that Almas name is still in there, I saw it in one of the streams (Rachel vs Ryu), it was the first time I got to see that they did all the back detail properly.
I like that they included the name, and your metaphor is really nice (I just thought "boobs, it had to be on her boob"), but I wish they had kept the original. It matched the bra coloring. Too me it all went together. Once they changed the color of the bra and decided to create the pink stripes, the color palette became a little messier. I wouldn't have minded if they removed the name from the sleeves and left the stripes black, it would have matched her pants, but this way around the pink seems kind of random. But it's a small thing, and if anything I'm just grateful to have my design actually make it into the game :)

I totally agree, and like I said in my OP ; "Most fans are sick of the T&A, so its more fan-diservice!"

The bikini and such packs sold well, I bought Tina's one, as I thought it was awesome. However, in relation to the animal pack itself, I don't think people wanna see a character in a plain, skimpy, pink bikini, wearing a pigs nose from a joke shop, saying "Oink! I'm a pig!" But something like @axouel2009 's design for "Cow" Tina or Christie's "Cobra" are great examples. They deliver the skin, aka: fan service, wear what IMO the character themselves would wear in these situations, and are interesting designs.

Then again, we are even 100% sure about this animal set or not so... lets wait and see!

I keep hearing this argument that non-fanservice costumes didn't sell well. They tried one generation of non-fanservice (excluding the ridiculously overpriced Halloween-themed pack) costumes: Casual, Casual 2 and Legacy (one per character).

I'm sorry guys, one generation of costumes aren't enough to say "they sell better" than the fetish stuff. TN has not tried to sell anything else. They did a few non-fetish stuff. No one, no matter what numbers they have, can hope to make a market analysis on this model. I mean where are we getting these numbers? Was there a survey I'm unaware of other than what we see on the PSN? Given this isn't really a fact, but rather speculation (as there haven't been enough non-fetish DLC to test) than we can stop making the assumption that fetish DLC sells better than future non-fetish.

And fan-service fans =/= DOA's only fanbase. They can be given consideration every once in a while but so should DOA's fanbase as a whole. They do not need to Bogart this whole franchise.

But this whole discussion is so unnecessary. We should have a lot more un-sexy options in DOA. We're all set on the sex appeal spectrum for now. I want some actual costumes that require effort.

In any event, this is the new costume thread. I was expecting non-fetish costumes and ideas; not this conversation lol.
