Whelp lmao guess I'll just preventively stop watching this thread now.
Why do you keep making the topic about something else? Stay on the topic.of course not. since i fully acknowledged the fact that it's not a cookie cutter textbook scientist, this is a pointless venture for me.
but to begin with, where is this written rule that a character of [occupation] has to look completely the part? none of the female ninja in this game (and any other fighting game) actually looks like a ninja either. but i can handwave it because ~they're grown~ and i have double standards.
though i find it's funny that we have people complaining about "tropes", and then we have people vehemently complaining about it NOT being tropey enough.
find me a stripper hostess that dresses as conservatively as that. go. you'll be more likely to run into nyotengu-lookalikes than any of the characters you're criticizing.
cringeworthy. pixels on a screen don't have controls over anything. it's a conscious decision by her creators.
and a femme fatale doesn't have to be a dominatrix.
you mean the way she has an incredible amount of exposed skin, her navel is enjoying the force of the wind 24/7 and some of her articles being semitransparent?
But I will say I always assumed Lisa was AfroLatina. Her description says her nationality is American, which doesnt necessarily rule it out, but there is no reference to Mexican ethnicity. Her character doesnt have any kind of Latina accent, even though Helena is voice with French, and batman with Russian.
okay.Helena is blah an opera singer blah opera dress something
Tina is a slut blah equally slutty costumes blah
but a scientist that shits out electric dressed in a futuristic longcoat (that i find really sexy btw) oh NOOOOOOOOOOOOO
I-of course not. and since i fully acknowledged the fact that it's not a cookie cutter textbook scientist, this is a pointless venture for me. but to begin with, where is this written rule that a character of [occupation] has to look completely the part? none of the female ninja in this game (and any other fighting game) actually looks like a ninja either. but i can handwave it because ~they're grown~ and i have double standards.

Reading is fundamental.I have no problem with tropey characters nor sexual characters , so long as they are formed convincingly and make sense.
And thats fine, seeing as Nyontengu's face and figure reads like an adult.find me a stripper hostess that dresses as conservatively as that. go. you'll be more likely to run into nyotengu-lookalikes than any of the characters you're criticizing.
I'm referring to how her character is written, genius.cringeworthy. pixels on a screen don't have controls over anything. it's a conscious decision by her creators.
never said otherwise.and a femme fatale doesn't have to be a dominatrix.
I mean, no matter how much you wish to play dumb, SC is not made the laughing stock between the 2. If you cant see why, thae that only says something about your own taste levels.you mean the way she has an incredible amount of exposed skin, her navel is enjoying the force of the wind 24/7 and some of her articles being semitransparent?
Anyway, I wonder if Lisa will get a new hairstyle, one that isn’t like that disgusting silver hair.
You stripped Nico of her traits, the hair, personality, and outfit, to make your point about it being generic, but won't do the same to characters like Kasumi and Ayane, Kokoro and Leifang, or any other characters. Now you bring in fighting styles? I don't know where you are going with this but since you can't think in an unbiased way then I'm done here.Nope. Despite being 2 busty blondes, If Helena started fighting with Tina's style it would look fundamentally wrong. She is a French former opera singer, a form of high culture which indicates opulence and class, she is tempered and seductive and needs a fighting style and costume to match. Tina while also sexual, has a wild and crass personality, she is american and southern and a wrestler.... there is no reason for her to dress in French aristocrat inspired garments. No more than there is a reason for Lisa to dress in a konoichi dress or Kasumi as a luchadora. The same can not be said about Nico who could have very easily been a Marie Rose reskin. Completely disposable and dusty neon wig will not change that.
We should drop it. It's literally just a matter of preference going by what has been posted. Some tropes are believable because it is liked and "generic" and others are not because it isn't liked. The new character's traits were stripped to make a point but when he is told to do the same for the older cast the topic suddenly moved to fighting styles.why am I making the topic about something else? it was a conversation involving multiple people. i wasn't talking to myself. the topic moves on to something else when it's collectively dropped. this thread had "let's talk about..." in the title, anyway.
^^^^i have no idea why you're flip flopping to fighting style and talking about characters wearing others' costumes when the original post was criticizing the way you aggressively defended tropes only when they're your favorite while massively generalizing others and having severe double standards.
okay.
That hair is horrible with every costume, that hair should be forgotten and never be brung up again. Lisa could get something so much better.same. like for the purposes of the gust mashup outfit it got a pass but was otherwise horrible. haha. :-D
there are some really cute hairstyles for short hair that lisa could pull off so i'm hoping they add at least two options this time around.
shit that are formed "convincingly" and played as safe and by the textbook as possible ARE inherently tropey and archetypal. you're contradicting yourself.Reading is fundamental.
so long as they are formed convincingly and make sense.
she didn't write herself. someone at project soul intentionally wrote it to strike the right chords on some people's reproductive organs.I'm referring to how her character is written.
yeah, it wasn't made the laughing stock between the 2 because it didn't have people going to these embarrassing lengths to defend their digital waifu. didn't i say this already?I mean, no matter how much you wish to play dumb, SC is not made the laughing stock between the 2. If you cant see why, thae that only says something about your own taste levels.
I used to think Brazilian too. I wonder why they have omitted this information.I always though of Lisa as a brasilian with residence on USA, for the capoeira techniques in his Lucha Libre

okay.
that's completely false. memorable and believable are not mutual. the entire guilty gear and skullgirls casts (and every 2d fighter, while we're at it) were not believable, but they sure as hell are memorable. You dont seem to understand that in order to create a memorable and believable character in a fighting game, their fighting style, image, personality and backstory to a degree necessitates coherence.
underrated postfunny how the thread itself ended up getting the biggest redesign of them all
shit that are formed "convincingly" and played as safe and by the textbook as possible ARE inherently tropey and archetypal. you're contradicting yourself.
oh for real? who would have knownshe didn't write herself. someone at project soul intentionally wrote it
this statement is not making sense.that's completely false. memorable and believable are not mutual.

this is way too much "i don't like it and it's not old so it's bad" and the thread is going to hell because of you.
"waah it's not doa because it didn't follow this exact same formula"
