Lets talk about redesigns

Let's speculate and share our wishes/hopes for the redesigns of upcoming characters! Do it for your favorite characters or the whole cast of DOA5, it's up to you. Obviously there's no need to include the guests (except for Momiji/Rachel i guess) as they will not return in the main roster and probably wouldn't get redesigned anyway.

Honoka: Drop the school girl and cow theme, at least for her default costume. I really don't like the school girl trope to begin with and the uniforms are just kind of boring. And the cow thing is, and i hate using that word, just really cringey imo and makes me shake my head. Something inspired by Raidou would be cool, but i don't expect them to go full "Martial Arts" on Honoka. Otherwise something along the lines of her 5th costume, the black t-shirt with the crossbones, i think is a good start. I'd also like to see her be a bit chubby, but that seems unlikely too.

Lisa: DOA5s Costume 3/5 are the way to go. Something that looks expensive as hell, fashionable designer clothes. As for the Mariposa persona i'm hoping for no feathers this time lol. Should be colorful. Ponus points if there are multiple masks to choose from! And i lowkey want to see her with longer, curly hair, but the shorter haircut is fine too.

Rachel should get some abs and be a bit more muscley overall.

Well that's what i got right now, i'm sure some of you have some good and more in depth ideas than me, but i felt like a thread like this could be interesting.

Ooh, ooh, I like this topic a lot.

Since Tina is running for office, I’d love to see a tasteful business look or two for her with moderate heels and glasses. I’d also love if she had some big, over-the-top patriotic wrestling looks with arm fringes ala Ultimate Warrior or even cool arm wings like Ricky Steamboat.

I agree that Honoka should dress less like a schoolgirl. Updating her skull logo to look a little tougher would be nice. I like some of her more casual looks from 5, but maybe she could have some sort of bodysuit or even jeans instead of a skirt.

Also yesss to Honoka being a little chubby. I’d love to see a somewhat heavier girl in DOA. I think that’d be hella cool.

I also think Marie Rose should drop most of the loli garb () and the pigtails. More industrial, almost goth costumes would keep her character darkish but less cute.

Maybe Honoka can get her own face this time instead of stealing Marie's.

I want Tina to ditch her blonde hair, go brunette and be an over the top character. For the shits and giggles I want her character do undergo a 180. Zack can make a remark as to why she's covered up, etc. I want her to pull a Melania Trump. At least for the beginning of the story. I want her to encourage the competitors to stop fighting. Power suits and all. Something like Ivory from Right to Censor from the WWE. I want her to ridicule Christie's outfits. Make her the new Zack.

And by the end, she goes back to her classic roots after she fails her political campaign. Forget the USA bikini, I want her old bodysuits back. Make her a legacy character. She decides to purchase DWA or a wrestling company in the final part of her story and becomes the chairwoman of DWA. Make it dramatic like the WWE.

Here's my potential redesign hopes:

~ Make her gone, for good. No more Alpha.

~ Keep the same but make her more respectful to her peers she's closer too, tone down the silly stupid tsundere act. Her father was a rapist, she was an outcast, been through alot of shit... We get it. Grow up and move on, there's no reason to be a bitch when you already had a major come up since your debut, grow up.

~ Make him less overly protective of Tina, make him more a father bear that cares about her safety more or so than her choices, she's a grown woman xD Make him have a more central connection to the plot since him and Rig were friends in DOA5

~ Clean him up a bit, revert him back to his DOA4 design to make him look more sleek and less dirty and unkempt. Make him more suave and less like a dirty hobo.

~ Give her a plot, she really has no purpose at this point since Helena doesn't care about her much anymore. Maybe make her a hired assassin who's going to turn on Donovan for her own ulterior motives. Make her longer hair her default hair too maybe

~Make him a canon disguise for Hayate or maybe even just a clone that Hayate can create at will as a duplicate.

~ Make him more muscular, shirtless or at least close to it, thiccer, and give him some moves from Gen Fu. Make him more confident and maybe touch on his interest in Ayane and Christie

~ Make her appear more different from Kasumi, maybe with shorter hair. Give her more original win poses rather than old Kasumi ones

~ Make her a bit more mature and less cutesy, give her a darker more sadistic personality that matches that of her default outfit.

~ Don't touch her move set, but give her more unique qualities and make her secret power more prominent. Also make her less typical moe and give her more personality, and do away with the uniform and give her proper modern combat attire.

~ Actually making her alive would be a redesign XD

~ Have him retired as a fighter, make him more focused on teaching Eliot his ways in combat.

~Give him a plot so he's not just there as a fan request fighter. Maybe make Lauren have given him a vision on something sinister between how DOATEC is involved with their hardships before she died.

~Make her a normal combatant but make her less ditzy and more aware of what's going on.

~ Make her plot anything besides entering each DOA tournament just for her to get her ass kicked by Jann Lee. XD Give her her old bun hairstyle back and make her more tomboyish like she was before DOA4 came along

~ Finally Give her a plot, and maybe refine her attire a bit

I don't want to say the obvious usual things I say all the time in regards to characters like Ayane, Lei Fang, Zack, etc.

I'd make Nyotengu a more serious character: give her a proper story instead of making her "Cute Promiscuous Tengu Lum Discovers Mankind!^__^". I don't like how her mentioned rivalry with Ryu never happened and got deleted. She has the potential to be cool and a fighting partner to Bankotsubo.
Also don't call her Bankotsuko lol.

Make Marie Rose look and/or act a bit older. I know this will never happen because that's why people like her, but I can dream.

Give Ryu long hair. It's a rather unique trait to DOA/XBOX NG Ryu, and I miss it. It was not just attractive and pretty, it made him stood out from other male action heroes. Also it does take a part in the divide between his looks and his actions.

Also, Hitomi and Bayman aren't people close to her... She always had a rude attitude, and I personally, I like it, at least in the older games, because she was legitimately cold and rude to strangers and people she deemed weak, instead of being some generic tsundere. Lol, if you picked the easiest difficulty in NGB she called Ryu a Ninja Dog and humiliated him regularly.

I think it can easily be interpreted as a defense mechanism, but let's not also forget emotion and attachment are a weakness for a trained assassin like her. This is part of why Kasumi ran away after all, because she could not bear a life of cold hearted killing.

I did enjoy watching her get slapped XD I also hope that Eliot will forget about Ayane and meet Kasumi since I personally ship them with each other. And Kasumi from the looks of it seems to not really care about fighting anymore, I think she doesn't wish to since she'd fuck you up, but if she has yo she will which I like. Phase 4 is basically for players who liked pre DOA5 Kasumi since she's literally a walking breathing version of DOA4 Kasumi who doesn't like being forced into her position

The girls always look good so better just focus on the dudes' faces so they don't look as weird as they did in DoA5. Specifically Brad Wong and Eliot.

Let's talk Kokoro.

Things to be kept from DOA5:
-Japanese voice actress is god tier (she happens to also voice Saber in the Fate series if I'm not mistaken)
-Awesome hairstyles
-Cool casual outfits like C7-C8
-Balanced and well-rounded fighter with average to above average strikes, throws, and holds
-Delayed strings and versatility with heichu
-The laugh taunt

Things to change:
-If the devs want to have her keep her traditional Japanese style of wardrobe have more costumes like C10 instead of C1. I get she's supposed to be more conservative than people like Tina but her default costume is way too big and heavy.
-Give her some real personality and story. I don't really care if they keep her ditzy or try to make her more mature as long as they actually give her a role in the story and something for us to be interested in. They have a great visual design going here but they aren't capitalizing on it.
-More tracking moves (please ;_; )
-Some more middle to long range options, preferably in the form of kicks
-A bit more grace and elegance. She's supposed to be Helena's sister AND a trained geisha so her moves should reflect this better. However I do understand that her fighting style may be prioritized in her visuals.
-If DOA6 had tag she should have gotten more interactions

Id love to see a tougher Mila. Hardened by the tough world of MMA. Covered in tattoos (as most MMA stars are) Covered in sponsorship logos. New rough attitude. Tom-boyish, but not in the cutsie DOA5 way. A really horrible bitch. Not gonna happen, but its what should be done with her. She wont stay innocent and delightful in such a tough environment like the one she is meant to be a part of.

Tina as a failed governor. Broken and disheartened, she finally returns to wrestling to get back to her roots. A business woman pants suit option, but a grizzled veteran wrestler getup. Bun-bag, ripped old jeans, stained tank top, messy hair, Doc Marten's held together with month old wrist tape. The Southern Belle attitude gone, more biker than beauty pagent. Once again... wont see this, but I can dream

Bass, gone pure Vince McMahon. Hes tired of trying to help Tina and now he's pure business. This goes against the purist that Bass is, but good writing to achieve this.

Just gonna stick with the wrestlers for now, they are the characters Ive always loved!

Leifang could use something that's not the dress for once. Well, have it somewhere in the game, obviously. But, something akin to her DOA1 or DOA++ look would be cool to mix it up.

I think everyone deserves a c1 redesign. So far everyone is getting one essentially. If they are going to change Kasumi’s c1, then they will change practically everyone’s c1. The only characters that I would say don’t need a new c1 would be Marie Rose, Rachel, and Raidou. Their c1 matches their characters very well. Though I am open to them getting new c1s.

Individual things I would like:

Marie Rose: I want her to keep her demeanor, but add more elegance. I think her over the top loli personality would be perfect to be juxtaposed against a dark storyline. Perhaps she is orphaned due to Donovan and is working as Helena’s servant as a cover as she works to get revenge on her parent’s murderer. Something dark. I want her to be like a neutral party and a dark horse. Chaotic good type.

Honoka: her current story is meh... I would love to see them pull out more of her ominous power lore. Maybe she is Raidou’s daughter/granddaughter. Her story could be emotional. I also am not a fan of her just being a school girl. Her default should be something a bit cute, but edgy. Like the camo and skull outfit. She probably should have the school uniform, but not as her c1...

NyoTengu: I hope she is a major part of the story as kind of the chaotic character. Like a trickster/joker character. Neither good nor bad. I want her to have some sort of major reason to be in story. Maybe she is getting revenge for her father’s death (assuming that the previous Tengu was her father). She could be very much like junkrat in Overwatch. I want her to have a bad ass c1. She is such a great character.

Rachel/Momiji: they need to be apart of this with a larger role in the ninja story line. Momiji should receive a really cool ninja armor c1 like Kasumi.

Lisa: I love everyone’s same thoughts. Fashion week. Her story has been all over the place. Is she good? Is she bad? Let’s clear this up. I thought she was working for MIST undercover. Like her, Helena, and Miyako could have been working together to take down Donovan.

Christie: She was Donovan’s hired assasin, but I would love to see her turn on him. Maybe her obsession for Helena leads her down to turning on her boss and helping Helena. She needs a really cool edgy outfit, but preferably not on that involves a wide open leather jacket and no bra...

Ayane: I love the tsundere thing, but maybe she could show more maturity this time around just because of her experiences.

Tina: would love to see something a bit more serious for her this time around. Maybe as a politician, she uncovered some darker secrets about Donovan, MIST, and/or DOATEC. The reason Zack is serious this time is because she reached out to him. Maybe they enlisted Helena...?

Kokoro: I hope she has a purpose this time... you know like other than being a clueless cute girl... like maybe she figured out what her mother was up to and has a moral conflict with it and is looking to make things right.

Rig: let’s actually get a real story. They kept acting like we were going to learn more about him, but we don’t. It’s possible that he is just like Hayate, except this time there is a Rig who is oblivious to it and that’s why he has amnesia and an evil clone. Or he could just be evil guy who is good at acting. Is he Donovan’s son and heir?

As for most of the other, we do have to have people who just want to fight in the tournament, but I hope there Is real character development his time, specifically for Mila, Hitomi, Leifang, and Eliot. Leifang needs to drop the I am fighting in this because of a man thing. Find a better reason...

Also I know Naotora won’t be coming back, but they did set her story up to be able to. I mean she got pulled here through a science experiment gone wrong by MIST. Would be kind of interesting if she does come back. ‍

As for preorder costumes: instead of swimsuits, it would cool to see something serious-ish. The idol costumes were cool. I’d love to see casual costumes, classic costumes, bad ass armors, magical girl armor, or idol costumes instead of swimsuits. They are going to need an incentive after all...
